Upon initial inspection, McNamara employees immediately assessed that our old fireplace was unsafe and dangerous. The main findings were: the fireplace location is inappropriate, the placement of the return vent is hazardous, the duct precarious, and so on. They strongly recommended against its use and made us sign "Do not use this fireplace in this condition" at the bottom of the service ticket. \r
Despite this conclusion, they proceeded to service and clean the fireplace. Approximately one hour and $335.95 later, they left the premises. We would have preferred a thorough explanation of the situation in order to make an informed decision and avoid the unnecessary disbursement. But, apparently, McNamara is hungry for easy cash.\r
\r
We are now looking for a company that will replace this obnoxious, abominable fireplace and replace it with a state-of-the-art wood stove. McNamara definitely will not be considered.
