McIntyre & Moore has two things working in its favor: it has a truly unique selection of books, ranging from academia to U.F.O. theory to experimental psychology and counterculture; and it's open late, every night. You have to check your bag at the front desk. There are both hardcovers and paperbacks and you won't find the latest bestsellers - there is a lot of nonfiction here. Memoirs are cleverly lumped into the "death and dying" section. Essays are largely academic. The religion, feminism, psychology and foreign language sections are fabulous. If you want to sell books to them, call ahead and see if there's a buyer on that day. Don't just show up. They will ask for some titles and subjects so be prepared.
