McFaddens Restaurant & Saloon

first off...this place is not your typical wall street bar. you will not normally find guys in their versace suits socializing at the bar. This is a place were the bar tenders dance on the bar and serve cheap beer. I have never had the food, but I am sure its not much more than bar food. I always seem to enjoy myself here. Its always packed and not filled with stuffy people. You go to have a good time and maybe dance in the back room. more

SO ive read some of the reviews already written and i think some people have been too snobby, Mc faddens is not for snobby nor picky people i think, i went on a ten day vacation in ny Manhattan, we stayed at the hilton 42nd on 2nd ave, and when we were tired from all the touristic things we've did during the day and where too tired to search for a place to have a drink, all we had to do was cross the street and there we were at Mc faddens. First i got a little attitude from the bouncer coz i had my Lebanese id with me instead of my passport and wouldnt let me in so i had to go get my passport but i do understand he's doing his job, and turned out really nice. The music i really enjoyed, if u come a bit early or during the week its a nice place to chill and have ur drink or watch the game i guess, but on saturdays wow it gets packed crazy packed esp on a friday ( or atleast the firday we were there) girls dancing on the bars people drinking and having fun it was nice but i bailed coz i got there late and there was no place to stand. The beers i loved comparing to the beers we have in lebanon yea, other than that i didnt try. The location is easy to reach yes it isnt too far from times square and for the snobbish people who had trouble at this bar i should say from their attitude they will have problems at most of the places they will visit. besides there are some cool bars close u can hop to when u want a change. cheers and ill deff visit next time im there too many good memories :D more

I get sent to NYC on business every few weeks but this time I arrived on a sunday rather than midweek. My company put me up in the Tudor Hotel on 42nd so I decided to go across the street to Mcfaddens to watch the Yankees. I've gone by there sometimes and thought it was kinda rowdy and not my scene but they must have changed something because I had a great experience. I sat at the bar, ate my grilled cheese for dinner and had to drink away my sorrows at the yankees getting swept by Boston. I was just going to watch the game but I ended up closing the place down, Mary (the bartender) did a fantastic job and I recommend this place to anyone who wants to roll in for some good bar food and a fun place to watch a game. WORST BAR EXPERIENCE EVER! So me and my coworkers saw they had this $20 All You Can Drink for 2 hours Special every friday, we work a block away, so why not right? Wrong!! We get there, where the bouncer checks your ID just to step into the place (haha..big joke since this place is more of a pub) and they tell us that the $20 special's been discontinued. What they have now is you pay $5 , they clamp a wristband on you, and you get drinks HALF PRICE for 2 hours. Sounds cool right? Wrong!! Me and my buddies from work start ordering beers. They order pints of Guiness, myself a Stella. One of them is charged $3 for a Guiness, the other $4 for a Guiness, and I'm charged $4 for a Stella. So my $3 buddy says keep it quiet, he's getting beers cheaper than normal. We say..coool. But after 3 beers, I had to ask. I'm like, so Stella's are $8 normally? The bartender (cute but obviously dumber than a doorknob) says no they're $6. I'm like $6..whoa..I've been paying $4 a pop plus $2 tips on each bottle. She's like well, I didnt have change and walks away. Meanwhile the bar is packed! Come on, you were busted! Rather than her say, ""oooh my bad, next beer on me!"" Or even I'm sorry.. she gives atttitude..so I ask to speak to the bar manager. She whispers in his ear, and vice versa, so it wouldnt surprise me if they were banging each other after shift. Anyway, I'm waiting like 15 minutes..i think he was hoping I would just leave. He comes over and asks if there's a problem. I tell him the whole story, and he's got absolutely no excuse in the world but at the same time still NO apologies. He gives me my $5 back , a business card and tells me I can do whatever I want. It's not the extra $1 I'm paying , but the principle. Charge EVERYONE the same price, this is called discrimination and they were called out on it. We left for another local bar and got a buy back after 1 beer! Bad music, corny crowd and rude bartenders.. be afraid, be very afraid! Pros: The bartenders were cute. This place is great if you want to go and have drinks with your friends. They have good draft beers as well as drinks and if you want to use them for birthday parties or special events Patsy is the girl to call, she handles everything. They are great. more

I just wrote a review and I think the website crapped out so forgive me if this was posted twice. Im rather surprised the review says people in their late 20's-early 30s hung out here. We went last night and Id say the average age was 22. It looked like a fraternity party gone bad. The place was FILTHY, the crowd was immature, sloppy, falling all over themselves drunk, the music was so loud I thought my ears would implode. In at attempt to create excitement the bartenders urged all the drunk little tarts to dance on top of the bar. One girl fell backward and smashed her head. I think that was VERY irresponsible of the staff. This place was absolutely gross, the people there were gross, I wanted to go home and take a hot shower and disinfect myself when Ieft. Pros: If you want to leave, cabs are plentiful. Cons: Everything else. more

In a word: Awful. Although I don't know if that word can accurately sum up how bad this place is. Picture middle-aged couples getting down to the likes of ""The Train,"" being shoved against the bar of an entirely uncharming pub to order a grossly overpriced pint, and music so loud it's impossible to carry on any semblance of a conversation. I've been to this bar a few times, and have always had a good time. It's in a great location, and has the BEST sweet potato fries ever. I recommend this place to young singles. Pros: good location and good food Cons: Small bar area more

Happy Hours are the time to go... great crowd, fun music, and unbeatable drink specials... $10 top shelf open bar! Thurs 6pm is when it all gets going - the crowd gets crazier as the night goes on. Sometimes its almost too crowded - but just go there earlier in the week if you want a less packed place. Good drink specials on Fri/Sat as well. Pros: Happy Hr Specials! I have never had a worse experience...I was there for the first time to watch the Mets game for the $25 drink special. The waitress wouldn't bring us drinks to the table (we had to get them ourselves at the crowded bar) and the bartenders ignored us. After we ordered our food the waitress tried to move us to a different table so we couldn't sit with our friends! She set our food down with no silverware and obviously no drink. To make matters worse, the waitress mouthed off to us after we refused to eat or pay for the food. She walked by my boyfriend and said ""karma is a b*tch."" After we agreed to pay (with the manager) she was up on the bar dancing, and looked at us and said ""who has the last laugh?"" Needless to say we did not pay and I will never go there again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The drink special isn't worth it because the bartenders do their best to ignore you and will ask for tips outright. This place is nothing if not consistant. Been here many times and each time I go I always have a great time. The crowd is always lively, the food is always good, and the drinks are always affordable. Their happy hour is, in my opinion, one of the best in the neighborhood. Great place for a party! Definitely recommended. Pros: Atmosphere, drinks, value more

Awful!!!!! When we walked in, we were ignored for almost 5 minutes then asked if we wanted our check!!!!!! We aksed for a table and the 'server' told us to wait aminute, then proceeded to have a chat on the phone to her friend and clear some dishes the another server seated us..........between them I don't think they could have been less attentive if they tried! I thought this place was the ""it"" spot for after work drinks but when I showed up on a Tuesday night... it was empty. There were only two girls in the place (not including the waitresses or myself) out of the two dozen people. Maybe I should try this place on a Saturday night, instead. They have two for one appetizers on Tuesdays, which is perfect. Their food was surprisingly great. We had the crabcakes and the assorted vegetable appetizers and they were very yummy. the food is much better than you'd expect for a midtown pub, and the weekend parties are always crazy, but the service was probably the best. the waitresses are cool and will chat with you and be honest - and they're hot! hello! more
