Rude & Dishonest 12/29/2010

Do not bring your clothing in-you will be taken advantage of. Worse-you will be robbed. After bringing in such items as Chanel, Prada, Armani, etc. in nearly perfect condition, and getting $57... I can never find all the pieces they claim they didn't sell on my behalf. And shoes and coats are hard to miss-they don't have that many of them. Where do they go, if they didn't sell and weren't donated? After a few ""business"" transactions with McShane's it becomes apparent that they determine the absolute minimum to pay out to those who bring in the merchandise before the merchandise even sells. Like the Chanel booties I brought in that they say they ""donated"" against my will, before their time was up. Now I see my Chanel booties are being sold on eBay for $629. Hard to tell if the owner is in on it, or if it's the girls working at the store. And they've been consistently rude. Quite odd, considering the economy. Very unpleasant experience. more

Best shopping customer service experience i've had in a long time 4/27/2008

I come in to McShane's quite a lot- to both locations- and while the clothes are great and the girls are always helpful and friendly, I recently had a couple of amazing experiences at the Webster location. A pretty, young saleswoman (who later introduced herself as Isabelle) greeted me both times the instant I walked through the door. She was charming, polite, funny and made nice conversation, and let me shop without being pushy in the least. Every now and then I would hold up an item and ask for her advice. She answered honestly and was very articulate about certain styles and trends, which showed she knew a lot about fashion and what looks good on several different women's body types. I felt confident in her expertise so I modeled a few fashions for her from the dressing room and she truly helped me find the right items to fit me and my style. The second time I came into the Webster location, Isabelle was there (and remembered me) and even though it was considerably busier than the previous time, she took time to stop what she was doing and help me find more great clothes. Not only that, she assisted several other women in the store the exact same way. She took preference over no one and was always smiling. On top of that, I found at least 6 or 8 pieces to buy that day and only spent about $75, too. Both these experiences at McShane's were of such high quality that I went home and bragged to one of my girlfriends on the phone about what a great store it is. When I mentioned how pleasant Isabelle was, she immediately knew who I was talking about and told me about a similar experience she'd had with her at the store. This young woman makes every customer feel special and important and truly feel beautiful in the clothes they are wearing, no matter what age, color, size or shape. I hope that if you haven't been to McShane's, you will consider stopping in not only for the excellent deals on great clothes, but to enjoy a truly personal shopping experience! Pros: excellent customer service and amazing clothing selection/price! more

Not that great exchange 1/13/2008

I think the clothing is overpriced, considering the quality of clothing. They may have some big lable items, but that doesnt matter when an item is threadbare and stretched out. There resale system doesnt make sense, you dont get anything itemized. I would rather go down the street and get a little less money, but get cash right away at the other shops around there. The have a nice clearance area, but you have to be lucky to find something good. Pros: clearance, location Cons: expensive & fair condition items more

Staff is AWFUL. Horrible experience as a seller. Good place to shop at, but not to sell at. 1/12/2008

I had a horrible consignment experience.\r \r I brought in over 200 items to consign. The staff was very nice when I dropped off but extremely rude and unhelpful when I wanted to pick up my items. Their consignment system is extremely archaic and unprofessional. The owner has NO sense of integrity or professionality in her operations.\r \r NOTE IF YOU WANT TO SELL THERE: This is practically the only consignment store in town that doesn't use an electronic system of inventorying their items. What I mean is that when you drop of your items to consign, they do not write down what you brought in, how much it sold for, or if it sold at all!! When I went in to pick up my check and what was left of my items, I spent over four hours going through their racks. All they could tell me was that 42 items sold and that I had made $305. That's a measely average of $7 per item. I had no clue what items were sold and which ones were left. \r \r The worst part is that I came home with only about 80 leftover items as opposed to the actual 150 that I should have come home with. The staff offered no help in finding what was left--they simply said ""that's our policy.""\r \r For all I know, they could have kept some of my good items and said they ""sold"" them. Overall, it was a horrible experience and I will never consign there again.\r \r If you want to consign clothing, I would recommend taking them to ANY of the other stores in town. They might be smaller and have less exposure, but at least they run on computerized systems. That way, you know exactly what sold, exactly how much it sold for, exactly what is left, and exactly how much money you made.\r \r McShanes might be a good place to shop, but if you want to sell, beware!!! Pros: Cheap designer clothing Cons: Horrible service, even worse if you want to sell your items there more

Watch the prices! 5/2/2006

You can find great prices on items that are in the clearance room or on sale...but I have found the items at regular price are often priced around or more than the retail price from the store the item came from. I agree with the other reviewer that the service is not good. Pros: Deals can be found Cons: No parking, Bad service, Too cramped more

Amazing Finds! 2/14/2006

I am almost hesitant to spread the word about this store as I don't want the 'secret' out. There are some truly amazing finds in here. Real designer and upscale clothing at fantastically low prices (its like heaven!). The only downside is the lack of hospitality. Most times I am never even acknowledged when I'm in the store and one day I was on the 2nd floor (all sale items) and was told to leave because they were closing (2 hours before they were supposed to!). In all honesty, the service is horrid but the deals are most definately worth it. Pros: High fashion labels, Dirty cheap deals Cons: Unhelpful/rude staff more
