I am not a huge fan of winter sports. I want to try downhill skiing but haven't done so yet. But that doesn't keep me away from here. During the winter it is open 9:00-4:15 for skiing, with the exception of Tuesdays. There is a ski rental shop along with a lodge to warm up and get a bite to eat.
Located in Old Forge, NY at the base of the Adirondacks you will find this a spectacular area to sight see and spend the day.
There is a chairlift that operates year round. We visit at least two or three times during summer and fall. To me the very best time to go is fall. The scenery is breathtaking! Pack a lunch, ride the lift and spend the day hiking.
At the top of the lift you may find deer, squirrels and chipmunks that will eat right out of your hand!
It is not uncommon to see bear in the area, so be aware of your surroundings.
