Mc Cauley Mountain Ski Ctr

I am not a huge fan of winter sports. I want to try downhill skiing but haven't done so yet. But that doesn't keep me away from here. During the winter it is open 9:00-4:15 for skiing, with the exception of Tuesdays. There is a ski rental shop along with a lodge to warm up and get a bite to eat. Located in Old Forge, NY at the base of the Adirondacks you will find this a spectacular area to sight see and spend the day. There is a chairlift that operates year round. We visit at least two or three times during summer and fall. To me the very best time to go is fall. The scenery is breathtaking! Pack a lunch, ride the lift and spend the day hiking. At the top of the lift you may find deer, squirrels and chipmunks that will eat right out of your hand! It is not uncommon to see bear in the area, so be aware of your surroundings. more

I came here in the summer and took the ski lift up to the top to see a great view without having to hike up. It was fun. On the way down we saw wild turkeys. It had an ok view. Ski lifts always make me nervous and this one kind of did too, since it is old, but it was not too bad. I would rather hike, but this is great for people that want to go on a mountain without the hiking. more
