Best Kept Secret in Tampa Bay 3/19/2007

Certainly, the Italian food here is AMAZING and incredibly diverse. Each week becomes a culinary adventure, including goat cheese and fig ravioli (made fresh throughout the day), sun-dried tomato lasagna, Gorgonzola cream sauce and outstanding tiramisu. Don’t miss the seared ahi tuna, aged steaks and home-made sausages. Mazzaro’s makes all of their entrées, pasta, pastry and pizza from scratch and they are astoundingly affordable, heck often a better deal than the local super-giant grocery store! Find the perfect wine to compliment your meal in their incredibly wine gallery, with two awesome guides to help you through the domestic and global options. The cheese counter gladly provides a sample taste of that cheese you did not know existed. Still, the true beauty of Mazzaro’s is the community it provides in a city where native Floridians seem the exception. Sitting at the coffee bar counter (they roast their own coffee in house), enjoy fabulous bread or pastry baked in the massive wood-fired ovens, and meet your neighbor. Young couples, WW II vets, individuals and families begin conversations about this delight you discovered here or that amazing pasta, and then branch into local news, podcasts, the weather and life stories. Every visitor I bring here leaves stunned that such an eclectic, diverse and utterly European market in Tampa Bay. It’s the best kept secret in Florida. more

I live in Palm Harbor, but make it my business to get to Mazzaro 3 or 4 times a month. I work in a doctors office which closes at noon on Fridays. The Doctor and a few of us, go to Mazzaros for lunch. We all just love it. The sandwichs are fantastic. The best bread made anywhere. All I could do is brag about the entire market. more

A huge Italian Deli & Market 5/15/2006

This has to be one of the biggest delis/markets I have ever walked into. I have to say the meat display case is fresh and everything looks wonderful. There is a deli counter, a bakery, a cheese and wine area, a meat counter and they sell produce and other things. I do have to say its one of the high end places. I guess you are getting what you pay for. It cost me $12.99 for one NY strip. 10.99/lb for filet mignons. They are good size. $5.99/lb for chicken oscar. Medium size cooked shrimp for $9.99/lb. I'm just giving you an idea. Don't go in there looking for bargains because thats not happening. They do a good business. I went in at 12:30 in the afternoon and could hardly get a place to park. The stuff is good and its fresh. At the deli they have a lot of NY meats and cheeses. All very good. The question is can you afford to pay those prices to feed your family? Steaks seem to be expensive no matter where I go. They might have a sale at Publix but the steaks there are a joke and still highly priced and you will not get the quality of meat you would get from a place like Mazzaros. And Walmarts meat just turns me off looking at it in the display case. I wont even go there. I have never eaten in Mazzarros so I can't give you an opinion on that. My husband and I love good steaks. If its not good and its going to be rubbery and chewy well I don't even want it. That is meant for stews and such where you can tenderize it by different methods of cooking. For good quality steaks I do recommend Mazzaros. For around $35.00 I walk out with a couple of filets, a couple of stuffed chicken breasts and a NY strip. Its a big one though. Enough for my husband and I to split. I don't eat a lot of meat. So I don't need a steak that big. I do like good quality and I can't emphasize that enough. Without the quality whats the sense in buying it. more

Perfecto 12/29/2005

Mazzaro's is a delight! It is authentic Italian food at a great price. When you walk into the market, you will get a feeling of being in a northern marketplace. It gives you a warm feeling to know that places like this still exists. With so many chains out there, Mazzaro's gives you something out of the ordinary! The food is amazing! Mazzaro's have limited hours so if you are planning on driving out to visit them, make sure they are open. They have a wide variety of pasta, sandwiches, bakery, bread, wines, coffee, and much more! You can eat on the back patio, at the coffee bar, or take the food home! Where you go, you are in for a treat! more

Great place to stop 12/3/2005

Recently remodeled to provide more parking and easier access, Mazzaro's is worth a stop. Located near industrial/big box stores, it's a bit out of the way, but worth a trip or a stop on the way to/from Home Depot or Lowes. Offering a large variety of Italian specialty foods, as well as fresh baked breads and of course, coffee, the smells alone will drive you to make a purchase! Deli sandwiches are available for a quick stop during a shopping trip, and big enough to grab one to take home for dinner. If you are seeking Italian sausage, cheeses, and items not to be found in your local grocery - Mazzaro's will fill the bill. more

All your Cooking needs 11/12/2005

Mazzaro's is a wonderfully aromatic place to visit. They have many products all of which make making an authentic Italian dish much easier. They have a meat/ cheese department which has a wonderful selection of imported cheeses and great cuts of meat. They have an olive and antipasto bar. They have some premade foods that you can buy to take home and cook. They have a very nice area where you can sit down and have coffee or gelato if you wanted to. Right next to that is the imported Italian goods. Wonderful selections of noodles, sauces, olive oils, vinegars and many many more. My personal favorite area is where they have the breads and cookies. The bread is made in a stone oven and always crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside. The cookies (And other desserts) and DIVINE. Mazzaro's is a wonderful market where you can stop and eat, or pick up what you need to make your own Italian feast. more
