Certainly, the Italian food here is AMAZING and incredibly diverse. Each week becomes a culinary adventure, including goat cheese and fig ravioli (made fresh throughout the day), sun-dried tomato lasagna, Gorgonzola cream sauce and outstanding tiramisu. Don’t miss the seared ahi tuna, aged steaks and home-made sausages. Mazzaro’s makes all of their entrées, pasta, pastry and pizza from scratch and they are astoundingly affordable, heck often a better deal than the local super-giant grocery store!
Find the perfect wine to compliment your meal in their incredibly wine gallery, with two awesome guides to help you through the domestic and global options. The cheese counter gladly provides a sample taste of that cheese you did not know existed.
Still, the true beauty of Mazzaro’s is the community it provides in a city where native Floridians seem the exception. Sitting at the coffee bar counter (they roast their own coffee in house), enjoy fabulous bread or pastry baked in the massive wood-fired ovens, and meet your neighbor. Young couples, WW II vets, individuals and families begin conversations about this delight you discovered here or that amazing pasta, and then branch into local news, podcasts, the weather and life stories.
Every visitor I bring here leaves stunned that such an eclectic, diverse and utterly European market in Tampa Bay. It’s the best kept secret in Florida.
