DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE LYING CROOKS!!! I bought a car from them (horrible experience as I was told everything was ready to go, all approved, etc just come in and pick out your new car...LIE #1) and after all of the paperwork was done and I finally drove the car home I get a call 2 weeks (yes over 2 weeks) later that my financing had could not be approved without more money down. Unfreaking believable! \r
\r
They jerked me around to the point where I told them I would just give them the car back and then they informed me they would have to charge me some unGodly amount per mile (which would have resulted in nearly the same amount they wanted to add to the down payment) which I now know is very commonly referred to as a ""Spot Delivery Scam"". \r
\r
My attorney said I could return the car, but the very fine print on the contract that I did not read could land me in court being sued (which happened later) if I did not pay them the mileage or the rest of the down payment they were entrapping me to pay. \r
\r
So I finally went to the dealership and told them again for the 20th time that I could not come up with any extra money so they added on a bunch of stuff like warranties, GAP, etc. I feel like I was being forced at gunpoint to comply with these slimy almost illegal tactics. \r
\r
The next day I called my attorney who drafted some letters to cancel of the the additional crap they added on (the hoops you had to go through just to cancel), and to no avail nothing has been removed from the loan.\r
\r
They ended up taking me to court for the down payment (I couldn't afford to pay the attorney for more than the letter writing or I would have hired him to fight their attorney as he said their attorney has a reputation in town and especially with the courts), and upon further review of Jefferson County court records as Mazda of Lakewood apparently takes numerous people to court on a weekly basis...see for yourself as civil proceedings are public record and you can pull them up online after you're done reading this! \r
\r
Gee, what kind of attorney would take money from a business who makes money doing borderline fraudulent/illegal transactions? Ding, ding ding...he must be a criminal attorney. The court would not grant me a continuance for the court date (I went out of town right after I was served) therefore they were granted a judgement against me which entitles them to garnish my bank accounts and/or paycheck. \r
\r
So in my goal of trying to be sensible and buy an inexpensive economical car (which I am grateful for, but really dislike). I have paid financially $25000.00+ for a $17000.00 car that was overpriced to begin with...and Mazda of Lakewood knows I am a single mom starting over and just diagnosed with cancer.\r
\r
I have purchased over 15 cars from dealerships in my life (I'm in outside sales and can't do the only job I am trained for without a reliable, safe vehicle) and never had anything like this happen before. I wish I would have done research about them before dealing with Mazda of Lakewood because I would have never gone there if I had read reviews in advance. Perhaps I can help others by paying-it-forward forewarning people.
