Editorial review from Citysearch 11/1/2013

Yesterday, 10-30-13, Mayuri is the only place I ate my only meal of the day. Guess what! I was rudely woken up by violent diarrhea and my stomach feels like I need to be around a bathroom. Prior to eating I had pointed out to the server that the flowed on the table was rotted and would like one that is not. I am wondering if that was an offence punishable in this way? In the past I had complained about a 10 minute wait to pay and leave. Tough place! If you go there, don't complain! more

south indian cuisine too! 11/2/2011

So most indian places in the U.S. have the same food and it all tastes the same. This place has a more diverse menu and features some items you can get in South India and mix it up a little bit. I will return soon!! more

Clean Polite Yummy! 5/14/2009

Just returned from eating here. We got in just as the Microsoft lunch rush was leaving. Staff was quick and clean and very nice. The buffet was delicious. Pretty decent selection. Three salads, Two rices, one appetizer, plain naan, two vegetarian dishes (the paneer was awesome), at least 4 meat dishes and two tasty desserts. Also a selection of sauces and chutneys. The butter chicken and tomato rice were empty when we arrived but everything refilled again fairly quickly. I liked that the hotel pans that the food sat in were small. Even though some dishes ran out quickly, they had to be filled with fresh food again rather than a lot of food sitting out for a long time. Buffet price was a dollar less than others I Googled in the area. I'd definitely eat here again. Pros: Good selection, nice staff, best lunch price Cons: good stuff goes quick more

Used to like the food until a rodent ran through 4/16/2009

I used to eat at Mayuri with friends all the time. The food was good. However one time I was having dinner and a huge r a t ran through the dining area and under my table. One customer ran out of the restaurant screaming and I wasn't too upset really until the waiter said "Don't worry we'll catch it. We have a guy that's good at it".... so that happens often enough that they have a person to catch the r a t s? No thanks I'll be eating elsewhere from now on. I wish this didn't really happen because I loved the place before that. Pros: Tasty Food Cons: Dirty Kitchen / Rodents more

The place to go when craving Indian food 8/30/2006

This is probably my favourite Indian restaurant, so far. The prices are reasonable, though it's not cheap, and the service is good. I don't think i've ever emptied my water glass there. My favourite dish is their rich and creamy Lamb Koorma, seconded by any of the Saag dishes. Usually, my dining partner and i will share one entrée à la carte and then another entrée as a thali dinner, which includes Dal and dessert, among other things. ...And of course, their Naan is fabulous. Pros: Service, Free parking, Model cuisine Cons: Cramped parking lot more

Great food, great service. The first two reveiwes are liars. There is no computer at the front desk, not in 10 years. 8/27/2006

First I have been to Indian restaurants all over the west coast. The only better restaurant I found was the Red Barn, and they are now out of business. The reviewers pointing you to other restaurants, I think work at the other restaurants. The lunch buffet is the best on the East-side, and the place is packed at lunch and worht the 10-15 minute wait. Sundays brunch has Goat, and it is great!!! If anything they are to carefull on the spice for those of us with pale skin, but they are very-very frendly and always great service and taste. more

Better places than here for Indian food 2/24/2006

Been here three times. Only once was the service good, with the waiter seating us promptly and returning to check on us periodically. The second time it was average. But the last time was horrible. Went in at lunch time. Only 3 or 4 tables were occupied. Waited at the counter to be seated while several waiters walked by without a word. The counter guy sat on his computer without even looking. After 10 minutes of waiting, I left to another restaurant. Won't be going back. On the positive, the decoration is nice, and the food is above average. Not cheap but not expensive as Indian restaurants go. Pros: ambience, parking Cons: horrible service more

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE 2/24/2005

I went in for the first time today with a group of 5 and was given disappointing service. Called ahead for reservations driving 20 miles away to bring visting family. On our arrival we went inside...shocked that the place was small! We were abruptly pointed to a table and were not courteosly seated by a host. We were crammed into a small booth table and bascially crammed into the wall no room to move. Then we were told there was buffet only and couldnt order from the menu. What angered me was that we were not informed when we called. With kids in the group a buffet was out of the question. Plus the owner just said "Buffet only!" No apology or sympathy. Very unprofessional. We had family from out of town. How embarassing. Overall, didnt have a good experience. Cons: bad customer service more

Best South Indian in town 1/28/2005

By far the best South Indian food in town. I keep going back for more, mostly for dinner. If you are new to South Indian food, try the South Indian Thali. Pros: Great food, Service, Value more

Can't get enough of Mayuri 1/22/2004

If you want excellent service and delicious food you should go to Mayuri. They have the best 'chicken tikka masala' that I have ever had from any other Indian restaurant. I am literally addicted to it. I've compared it to other places I've been to and they can't hold a candle to Mayuri's. I have been going there for 2 years and always get it and never get tired of it. The waiter knows what I want before I even sit down. The chicken is so flavorful and the sauce is rich and creamy. Their garlic naan has the perfect amount of garlic on it, it's enough to give it flavor but not overbearing. It completes the meal. The service is awesome! The workers are always so friendly to me everytime I go. If you want great service and great food then Mayuri is the place you want to visit! Pros: Prompt service, Inexpensive, Sitar entertainment more

Best Indian I've found 8/10/2003

The lunch buffet is always great, the dinners are always fantastic, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the service is always impeccable. Great Indian food on the Eastside. Pros: Great food, Great service, Good atmosphere more

not great food 2/7/2003

Food is not that good. Kanishka (in Redmond) and Regal (in Bellevue) have better lunch buffets and Udupi Palace has good lunch specials. There are better choices for Indian food nearby. more

Mediocre Indian food 1/13/2003

An friend of mine raved about Mayuri so we decided to pop in for lunch one day. I was sadly disappointed by the quality of their lunch buffet which. while not terrible, was certainly mediocre. For a truely delicious Indian buffet on the Eastside, check out Kaniska in Redmond which is leaps and bounds better. I wouldn't visit Mayuri again with Kanishka's superior food and service such a short drive away. more

Divinely Decadent Dinner & Buffet 9/23/2002

The food at this Indian restaurant is addictive! They serve rich sauces that are creamy and light; lots of fresh vegetabes, meat, and paneer; and whip up some Seattle's best lahsies (sp?) and chai. At lunch, this place is packed, but I've rarely had to wait long for a table. Even so, Mayuri serves the best lunch buffet around, with plenty of options that are quickly replenished (ie: fresh). At night, Maruyi, is a nice place to go for a romantic meal, small family eating, or a relaxing night out. They serve dinners "thali style" (individual cups with yogurt and rice) and service is always polite and accommodating. Also, I don't know if this is every night or just weekends, but I've dined there when they've hired sitar players to play during dinner. Pros: Excellent Food, Great Atmosphere, Plenty of Parking more

great 7/23/2002

this is the best restaurant I recomend everyone going to this restaurant. It has tons of varitys and great chocies of food. more

Wonderful! 7/11/2002

I love this place and I am a nut for Indian food. The chicken tikka masala is heavenly and nicely spiced but creamy, the naan is soft and always warm, and the pappadums are wonderful and so are the sauces (although i wish they would bring back the ones with the caraway seeds). The buffet lunches have the restaurant packed (usually) because it's a great deal with wonderful selection. Have had the tandoori chicken many times as well as many of the veggie curries- all the same high quality. If I had to say something negative, it would be that they use windex to spray the tables- can be an annoying smell when you're eating. Pros: great food, superior service Cons: nothing really. =) more
