Max's Best Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop is a family owned ice cream and small food item shop in Glover Park. They have a wide variety of ice cream, everything is very tasty but it is not my favorite place for ice cream in the city. I go here mainly when my wife and I feel like getting a sandwich and ice cream. Having an option other than just ice cream is great. The prices are very cheap and the service is always stellar. more

I don't know how I never knew about this place until after I moved out of Georgetown. Their Swiss Honey Malt is to die for, and the prices are great! They have a variety of traditional and nontraditional flavors, as well as frozen yogurt and coffee drinks. While Thomas Sweet remains the place to go because of their mix-ins, if you just want a simple scoop of ice cream, try Max's. more

This family-owned ice cream shop on Winconsin Avenue near Glover Park boasts not only a wide variety of homemade ice creams but a signed photo with Mr. Al Gore himself. You can usually find Max or his wife behind the counter, ready to delight your taste buds with Strawberry Daiquiri or Ginger flavors. Try the Pumpkin Spice in the fall or the Mint Oreo Cookie anytime. A sure winner at a reasonable price (less than three dollars for one scoop.) more
