The most well stocked and fairly priced shop I've visited in a long time. more

A great shop for vintage sport cards. No low grade junk just nice quality vintage cards. I won't shp anywhere else to fill out my 1960's sets. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/1/2012

Good local card store. As a Pokemon card collector, the selection isn't quite as robust as more specialized stores, but there's a consistent supply of the newest expansions, as well as some older, hard to get ones. However, there's a massive amount of comics, figures, and sports memorabilia available. more

A really great store 11/9/2011

I've never seen so much stuff in all my life. It's like a museum but you can touch the stuff and take it home with you. The guy working was nice and helped me find what I was looking for and took some of my stuff in trade. I have no idea how he knew where everything was in the store but apparently he did. I ended up trading some cards to him at 60% of book which was more the I expected since another shop offered me 10%. I was expecting 50%, I was insulted at 10% but more then happy at 60%. I'm into cards and the comic stuff really doesn't interest me but he has an insane amount of that stuff it floats your boat. more

Red Sox heaven 9/3/2011

New to the area and had to check out the shops in town. This shop is my dream come true. I finished my 2004 Red Sox W.S. ball collection and stood there staring at the Fenway Park lighted statue for about 20 minutes. Now I know what I want for Christmas. The kid working was polite and helpful, the place was clean and organized and the only problem I had was trying to get my kid to leave. Not a great shop for a father of a 6 year old who just discovered superheroes. I've never seen so many superhero toys before. I thought that people didn't read these things anymore but I guess I was wrong. I still can't believe how many toys this place has. So overall opinion is that it's a great shop and if you want to impress your kid bring him along. more

An All-Star shop 1/24/2011

A nice well rounded store with the emphasis being on sports cards and comic books. A great selection of older sports cards, both stars and commons as well as newer packs. Autograph memorabilia is everywhere and it's all authenticated by PSA, JSA or GAI so you know it's real unlike other shops. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and prices that are moe then fair, especially on the autographs. Paying $295 for a Steiner Derek Jeter baseball is more then fair. It's funny seeing people set up in the Mall each year selling fakes for $100 and people getting scammed year after year. There's a reason it's $100 and comes with a cert from someone that no one has ever heard of. Go to Matt's or another reputable dealer and save yourself some grief. more

Oh yeah! 12/24/2010

This shop just keeps evolving and I love it. I've been going there for years and one of the thing I love about it is that it changes every year. More collectibles, more collectibles and more collectibles, each and every year this store adds more stuff. It just gets better and better, I mean the layout of the store changes more often then the funiture in my parents house and that's a good hting. The shop constantly finds ways to expand the space that they have, after all more space means more stuff to look at and believe me they fill the space well. Hands down the best and most well rounded card and comic shop in the area. Over 20 years in the same location says alot and I look forword to visiting this place 20 years from now, by then he will have found a way to add a second floor or something. more

Fantastic Shop 11/27/2010

I am new to Enfield and visited the few shops in the area and this one, Matt's, is by far, head and shoulders above the rest. There is a HUGE inventory of comics and comic related merchandise as well as cards and other collectibles. The shop is well organized and the owner, Matt no less, is a super nice guy. He gave me a good deal on bought and I signed up for a comic subscription to get a cool 20% discount! If you live, or move to the Enfield, CT area save some time and skip the other shops and go to this one. more

Amazing shop with a great owner 11/10/2010

Wow, the last guy to leave a review must be a competitor or something. This card store has everything! In the short tome I was there just today I heard a couple people say ""wow, so much stuff"" when they entered the store. On top of that I was immediately greeted by the owner when I entered. He offered many suggestions and was able to work on the price with me. As for the appearance, the store was neat and tidy and anything I asked for I was immediately pointed in the correct location. I hadn't been in the store for a few months, and the look was dramatically different. The space was maximized to make it easier to get around. If you are looking for a place to play or buy magic, comics, new wax, DVDs or video games, matts is the place to go, great selection, great prices and an owner who cares more

Time to Update!!!!!! 9/17/2010

Found this store after the local comic store at the mall closed, Store looks like its been around for along time, time to spend a little money on upgrade (looks like 1980's). Selection good, Service was non existent (maybe because they didn't know me or because they were busy eating behind the counter) \r \r NO 25% DISCOUNT on subscriptions is disappointing. more

A nice well rounded store 9/14/2010

Ok, first off 5 Guys and Fries right across from this shop gets it on my ""must go to"" list right off the bat. Of all the shops I go to this is the most well rounded for my needs. Cards, Comics and a ton of toys. He sells Magic cards and tournaments with pretty good prize support, although I must admit that I go to the Time Machine for tournaments as well. Is he the cheapest around? No, he's cheaper on some item's and more on others. Will he work with you on the price, just ask him. He's always given me a discount whenever I've asked, well to be honest I always ask ;o) Does he have the best selection? Hands down, yes, yes, yes. His DC direct selection is fantastic and I've finished my early 1970's baseball sets thanks to this place. Oh, did I mention 5 Guys and Fries? Mmmmm burger, ok I have to go get me one now, must resist the large fries though. more

Great place 6/29/2009

This guy must subscribe to the ""If you build it they will come"" philosophy. He built a massive collectible shop and I keep going. Very misleading storefront though, the place doesn't look that big from the outside but it just keeps going back and you keep finding these extra rooms. It's like Narnia and I keep going back. Pros: Massive selection Cons: I need another job more

I love it here 5/11/2009

Matt's is by far the most Astonishing shop that I have visited. The owner is polite, helpful and pretty darn cute. This store is crammed to the rafters* with everything your heart can imagine. The toy selection is unbelievable with every DC direct figure in stock. This is one of the few stores where the owner not only collects himself but also loves the hobby. I've been to one too many shops lately where not only does the owner not collect but shows a general disdain for they hobby. I had just left a ""mall"" hobby shop where I asked the person working there if they were going to see the new ""Star Trek"" movie, his answer was ""Star Trek? No, I have a life, hahaha"" he said it with such disdain that I felt embarrassed when I handed him my Star Trek Countdown #4 to purchase. I went to Matt's and found 1-3 and when cashing out Matt asked ME if I was excited to see the new movie. We then got into a 15 minute discussion about it and suddenly I felt better. This was the first time I step foot in the shop and I had a nice, genuine conversation about something I love. He made me feel welcome. This is what a hobby store should be, a place where people can feel good about what they love, not be insulted. I seem to have drifted from my review so lets move on. My husband found some nice Red Sox cards that he has been trying forever to buy. A quick side not for all you ladies out there who are married to a Red Sox fan, I am not a baseball enthusiast but during baseball season that is all that seems to be on my TV and I love it. Why you ask, because my husband and I struck up a deal long ago. If I watch 2 games per week with him I get a movie night for the two of us, 3 games per week =dinner and a move and 5+ is a weekend away. Little does he know that I would watch them with him anyway just to spend more time with him. The store, the store back to the store. Matt's is a collectors paradise with more products then you could dream of. The prices are great-we asked for a discount and got one, it always pays to ask- I cannot stress enough the selection this place has. BIG. This is what a hobby store should be. *Editiors note: The store does not really have rafters but if it did I'm sure they would be crammed. Pros: Astonishing, Incredible,Amazing, Spectacular Cons: There are not open 24 hours more

Best Store in New England. Maybe even the universe! 9/5/2008

A truly delightful place to shop and bring the kids. Just got my kids into collecting and Matt's has the best selection I've ever seen with the best prices as well. Whatever I need, they have it and if they happen to be out of something they will be more then happy to special order it for me. The owner is the most patient man ever and smiles whenever my son empties his bag of pennies and tries to count them. You can always count on this shop to deliver! The only problem is that he has too much stuff, my son never wants to leave. To be honest, neither do I ;o) Pros: Friendly, great selection, great prices Cons: You will never want to leave more

Best shop period! 6/13/2008

Hands down the best shop I've ever been to. They are kind, helpful and have the largest selection that I've ever seen. I can't even begin to describe how much stuff is in this shop. Went there for the 21st anniversary shindig that they held and was impressed all over again. If you're ever in the area you have to stop by. Every time I go visit my sister I make the extra 1/2 hour trip to stop by Matt's. Totally worth it. Pros: Not enough space to list Cons: None whatsoever more

You want it, they got it! 8/7/2007

I've been going to this store almost my entire life, and no matter what age I was I have always found exactly what I needed. From fads like Webkins to the forgotten comics of yester-year, this place has not only a great stock, but a great staff. The owner will order something you want, even if you don't have it while you're standing there. He's a great guy and funny as hell when his helper (the blond girl is NOT his wife) pokes him when he messes up. They treat you like family there and have no problem recommending or even telling you if you pick up two of the same comic for exmaple. The blond girl is funny and is an artist, so she is always dooling ad will even give you a sketch if she is in a great mood (which is most of the time). What people need to get into is their massive manga/ anime collection that is the biggest in the town (even Barnes and Noble) and it's still growing! The card collection is great too, from collectiable card games such as yugioh to the sports I must say they put their best foot forward and try to answer any and all of your questions. This is the best comic/ card shop I have been in my entire life, for service and for content. more

Amazing! 8/7/2007

Matt?s Sports Cards is a small collectible shop in Enfield Connecticut. It may be small but it had about everything you can imaging, satisfying the hearts of any fans. \r \r For comics they have many trades and various titles. There are over hundreds of different back issues, some that date to the 60?s. It is a great help if you are looking for a comic that isn?t sold in most stores anymore.\r \r Not only do they have comics but manga and anime too. A heap load of manga books sit in the back anime room. They have everything from Kodocha, Beserk to the up and raising Death Note. Here they have figures, cards, and collectibles that you usually only get online. This place is great for any Graphic Novel lover and appreciator of good Comic art.\r \r Sports memorbila is basically all over the place. They have autographs, cards, and many other collectors issues. Not just are there sports autographs but other celebrities to.\r \r When you think I was at the last paragraph there is more. Disney collectibles, signs, light switches, Webkins, and everything you desire can be found here. For the card lovers they have Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon and Magic tournaments!\r \r So I?m giving this five stars and encouraging you to check this place out. more

I died and went to heaven 7/17/2007

Whatever your doing right now ,reading this I would imagine, stop right now,get in your car and go to this shop. Don't worry I'll wait untill you get back. OK, back allready. I told you it was worth it, that place rocked didn't it. Without a doubt the best Comic shop I've ever been to in the tri state area. You name it and this guy has it. His wife (?) greeted me the second I walked in and the owner greeting me again when I went into the back room where he was fileing back issues. My Machine man collection is now complete as well as 2001, Eternals and Invaders. His back issue room is pretty complete to say the least. An interesting side note, while he was doing the back issues his wife would sneak up on him and either tickle him or poke him in the sides. The poor guy jumped 20 feet each time, funniest thing I ever saw in my life. This little 5 foot blond making this 6 foot guy jump. Almost reminded me of that cartoon when the dog barks and the cat jumps and is clinging to the ceiling. Funniest thing ever. They way they acted, the way they treated me it's like I was part of the faimly. This place was tthe best part of my day by far. Ok, back to the review. Toys, toys, toys you name it and he has it. He has a room devoted to manga, yes a whole room.More staues thaen I've ever seen in my life and litteraly thousands of tpb's, I would guess 4000 or so. His card selection is a little weaker on the red sox then I would like but apparently he's a Met fan (no taste but a great shop). There were 2 books that I was looking for and he was out of but he went and ordered copies while I was there. I didn't even ask him to but he took the inititive and I appreciate it. Too many times I've ordered from shops only to find they they never placed the order, this guy does it in like 2 minutes. Best shop ever for cards, comics, toys, statues, autographs and the guy even had some disney statues for my wife. GO THERE NOW! On a side note try the pizza from the shop next to him....yummy. Pros: TOO, TOO MANY TO LIST Cons: HE WON'T LET ME LIVE THERE more

Wow!!!! 4/18/2007

This place fracking rocks. You name it and this dude has it. The best comic shop I've ever been in and that says alot. Completed several b list 80's titles-New Gods, Blue Devil etc., and I have never seen more TPB's and statues in one place before in my life. Between Marvel, DC, indy's and Manga this guy has to have close to 10,000 TP's. The best part is that the people who work there are totally cool. My local shop may be close but the owner is a little gruff. These people rock, I only wish i lived closer to this place. more
