I can think of no better place to go for a Juicy Lucy with a basket of fries and a pitcher of beer to wash it all down than Matt's Bar! It['s neighborhood places like Matt's that I hope people in the Twin Cities keep visiting rather than boring chains like Applebees. This place has character, good food and is frequented by good people. Don't go looking for anything fancy - just order the basics, sit back, talk loudly and become part of one of the best dining atmospheres in town!! No Dive 4/3/2003

In America, you call it a ""dive"", however, in the rest of the world where everything is not torn down immediately, it would be referred to as a place with ""character"". I've been going to Matt's for 25 years and very little changes. Character, great Juicy Lucy, great fries and great service!!!!!!! Fear the Cheese!!!!! Bad Service at Matts 2/18/2003

Waitress walk around with an attitude, if you ever get one. Hard to get wait staff attention even when going to bar. Great food...love the jucy lucy but hate the awful service! more

they are the best. You will get hooked and crave them later. We took it for granted when we lived within walking distance. Now the kids beg to go and we make the one hour plus drive just for the burgers. Pros: taste, price, service Cons: variety, location more

Good food, bad service 1/4/2003

Ate at Matt's for the 3rd time the other day. Service is usually so-so. This time, however, we waited over 30 minutes for 2 jucy lucys and a basket of fries. We recieved our food AFTER a couple that came in after us got their food first. The jucy lucy's are great...just don't expect the red carpet treatment, but I guess you get what you pay for. more

i live about 4-6 blocks from matts and i have been going there since i was a small kid..i still love it!! even though when i was young i was too little for a jucy lucy ( the hot cheese ) but when i tryed it i fell in love with them!! i still love 'em!! the people, the service and the food are a 10!! i love it!! try it!! stop in for a visit, friendly serivce and the best burger in town! more

Great burgers,good memories 10/4/2002

I love Matt's. The burgers and fries are done just right and you don't (can't) spend hours poring over the menu. When I got old enough to drink, my dad used to bring me to Matt's to have 'talks' and pass on words of wisdom. more

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Kind of the place you walk in to and think... ""They have the best hamburgers?"" The answer: Absolutley! The servers are quick and to the point, but they have to be... The place fills up fast. The Jucy Lucy can't be beat!! And you gotta have the fried onions!! If your going to go... no need to dress up (Ya can if ya wanna) just go as you are and have one of the best burgers and fries you've ever tasted!! I am in no way connected with Matt's Bar... Matt's is like taking a step into your unhealthy--but oh soo very good alter ego! The food is greasy, but scrumptious. The Juicy Lucy will keep you coming back and don't forget a basket of Fries. more
