I just came from lunch at Matthew's 1600 and the ""Parisian"" is my new favorite sandwich! It has turkey, mixed greens, brie and a cranberry-mayo on flatbread! I'm already craving...

We had Dinner the other night. It was Great. The Tuna Tottori was outstanding and the Salmon Special was cooked Perfect. Dessert was the SMith Island Cake, it was perfect. The service was great. We never waited for anything. We are going to make this a regular hang out for us. Keep up the great work guys! more

my sister had her graduation party at Matthew's 1600 and it was a very smooth and easy process to get everything planned. Todd the banquet cordinator was extremely helpful and ansewered all my questions when we got there the room was perfect and set up just as we had request. My family deffidently plans on coming back and having another party at Matthew's 1600 more

I could tell all the food was fresh and they take great care of it! The only thing better than the food was the service. Our server was very accomodating and pleasant. She arrived quickly at the table to greet us and was very knowledgable about the menu. It was a great place to go on a date and I would certainly recommend that anyone go!\r more

Matthews 1600 is a great restaurant to visit!! I will definitely be coming back for the crab dip and the big matt is the best burger Ive ever had! McDonalds could take some tips from them! I could tell all the food was fresh and they take great care of it! The only thing better than the food was the service. Our server was very accomodating and pleasant. My best friend and I met for happy hour at Matthews 1600. What a great choice. The prices were great and they offered several happy hour appetizers as well as their regular menu. The bartender was friendly and attentive. We ordered the southwestern chicken eggrolls which were savory! We also had the crab pretzel which was to die for! We will surely be back soon! more

I booked my wedding reception here, and I could not have been happier with my experience from start to finish. When I contacted them, they were so friendly and seemed actually invested in my big day too! They took time to ask me questions to know exactly what I was looking for… what kind of ambiance, food, music, if I wanted a slideshow, how I wanted to do courses, etc. I got the quote, and the price was so reasonable, I was shocked, in a good way! Then on our actual day, the schedule of events for our wedding got messed up because of the church’s scheduling, therefore our entire party was late coming to the reception. They were super nice and understanding about it, and we were greeted with excitement and smiles when we finally arrived. The room was set up beautifully, it smelled so good, the food looked outstanding, and all of our little requests were fulfilled to a T. The rest of the night went off without a hitch, and the service was just impeccable. I absolutely highly recommend them for private parties, events, receptions, etc. Thank you, Matthew’s for making my big party so memorable! more

Your decision 8/31/2011

I have just returned from one of the WORST lunch experiences I have EVER had! The service was beyond SLOW. After we placed and received our drink order we had to flag down a waiter to find our waitress so that we might place our food order. When the waitress did show up she was INEFFICIENT and SURLY. My companion's rock fish was BURNT and her sweet potato fries ($1.00 extra) were WILTED and TEPID. We were never offered a refill of water, tea or anything else. We were never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. We observed our waitress talking at length to people at one table while holding aloft (and allowing to get COLD) the food order for another table. People who arrived after my party received their food before we were served. We spoke with the manager who, once he listened to our concerns, promptly disappeared and had to be summoned again to discuss and settle the bill (i.e. remove the BURNT, INEDIBLE rock fish). I could go on but by now you should have a clear picture of the dining experience you might have if you make this restaurant your choice of the day...but if you are caucasian maybe not! Mushrooms unwashed; Needs Improvement 12/13/2010

I ordered the Mahi Mahi salad, and was surprised to find CANNED jalapenos on it when it was served, as there was NO MENTION of any jalapenos on the menu. They seemed out of place. Maybe better if fresh. The menu described it as having ""pineapple salsa, cucumbers, atop a garden salad, with a Caribbean mango dressing."" I didn't taste the mango at all. I wonder if they even gave me mango dressing. Even though I picked off the jalapenos and didn't eat a single bite of them, the taste was left behind, overpowering everything. The mushrooms were CLEARLY NOT WASHED. I could see peat moss on every piece of mushroom! Makes me wonder, do they wash any of the vegetables? Probably not. Would they wash all the rest, but leave the mushrooms unwashed? Our glasses were slow to be refilled. My coffee was not once refreshed. My plate was taken away and tossed before I was even finished; the server didn't even ask if I was done. Very unimpressed. I don't know if this matters if you have kids, but I heard someone ask for crayons and they didn't have any. more

WORST EXPERIENCE! 11/26/2010

As a Director of Events for a large hotel in the area, I would say I can sometimes be a little pickier then others but this was by far the worst I have ever experienced. We made reservations for Thanksgving Dinner. Upon arrival were greeted by the hostess, our table was not ready yet so we sat and waited as she seated other guests, our turn came about and she pointed across the room and said go over there through those doors and your table is in there. Here I am with my 6 year old and 80 your old grandmother, lugging around O2 tank and cane. I asked her to show since there were 3 doors and I did not want to drag my grandmother through the restaurant, she said should could'nt and kept pointing. At this point I saw 3 gentlemen sitting at the bar, noticed one shirt said Matthews 1600 asked if I could see the Manager, guess what he was the Manager just sitting at the bar doing nothing. Told him they were not off to a good start, he then apologized and said ""the food and your server will more then make up for this little incident"". Huh! The server whose only job was to get drinks came 15 minutes later (automatically recieved a $22 tip for bringing 3 cups of tea and a milk), that was all she did besided drop a check. Went to the buffet thinking it must be better, perhaps if the Manager was watching the buffet he would have noticed the sterno's were out, the food was cold, the cheese display was non existent, shrimp over cooked, pasta over cooked and the Prime Rib very fatty. About the only good thing was the pumpkin pie which was served on plastic plates with plastic forks! Server dropped us the check and over charges us, I pointed out she charged for 4 adults when clearly my child was only 6, ""oops"" I am used to hitting the adult meal button (wonder how many guest were overcharged that night). To top it off the buffet price of $28.95 per person did not include the beverages they were $2.50 on top, so for $150.00 when all was said and done, my family left hungry and had to go home and heat up something. NEVER AGAIN! more

Great Brunch 9/22/2009

We had a great brunch experience this past sunday at Matthews. The new brunch menu is awesome and full of variety, they even have a kids breakfast to pick from. This past sunday the resturant seemed especially busy, however our service was great, and the food was still high quality. The only downfall of the meal was the table to the left of us that did nothing but complain loud enough for us to hear them. Even after this table tested both the server and managers patience, they still remained extremely professional and continued to give them attentive service. Obviously nothing was going to make them happy, they even admitted the food was great!! Go in for your self and taste the new delicious brunch menu. I highly recommend the breakfast burrito!! Pros: good location, warm atmosphere Cons: nothing!! more

Party Planned 9/4/2009

I have eaten here a few times and have always had a good experience. When it cam time to plan a small party (25 people) I decided to ask. Todd has been great. I have no idea what the ""toobusyforus"" guys are talking about. Very nice at first meeting and has been attentive both by phone and Email. He has helped us plan a wonderful menu at a very fair price. Pros: Good food, prices, service Cons: Thinking...nope, none more

Happening Place! 6/24/2009

I have lived in Catonsville for 2 years and this was my first time at Matthew's! I had been hearing from my friends how great the place is and decided to give it a try. The place is great!!! The bar area is HUGE and so much fun. The food was delicious and the bartenders were the friendliest around. I suggest you check the place out if you've never been there, you won't be disappointed! Awesome Party 6/13/2009

My Mother turned 75 this year so we decided to have a party for her. We called and spoke with a very nice hostess who took down our information and told us that ""Todd"" the Banquet Coordinator would get back to us as he is the person who plans the parties at Matthew's. We heard back from Todd the next day and he was very helpful, professional and patient as we had no clue what we wanted. He took care of all of the details and made it seem so easy. Pros: Easy and affordable Cons: Can't think of one! more
