Matsutake Japanese Steak House

I ordered the Matsutake Lunch Box and Ton Katsu for a grand total of $38. They were to be delivered with no more than 60 minutes of a wait time. I prompltly ordered at 1159am. My order didn't arrive until 130 and it was all cold. I didn't think any Japanese restaurant could mess up chicken terriyaki (the driest coldest fare I've ever been served) I blame this partly on the delivery guy for not having some type of heat retaining container for the food. It may have been hot when it arrived but not when I received it. The lunch was also missing the miso soup so 1/5 for this place. more

It was delightful surprise. I think the New Yorkers will say the same. It was best sushi I had out side of San Francisco and New York City. Young urban, classic, hip decoration. Service was great, too. I went with eight of my family and relatives and we got several items 'on-the-house' as well. I recommand the special rolls. I think the 'YOKO' was hit hard by theses guy's success. Don't pay attention to jealous competitors whos talent (chef's) falls short whether Japanese or Korean, or Chinese, or French.... I thought I was being served by an authenic Japanese sushi chef....oh how wrong was I. These guys are actually Korean. When I asked the chef something in Japanese, he looked dumfounded. The sushi is not the freshest and the service is a rush you in and rush you out. I'll never go there again. I'll go to YOKO's a mile away where I can find real sushi. more

Matsutake has really good food in a great location. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Has both a sushi- and a japanese steakhouse-side of the restaurant. I am more familiar with the steakhouse-side. Prices are similar to other japanese steakhouses. I have never had to wait for a seat (7+ times), the tables seat 8 and they try to fill them up as much as possible. They will start a table for less if they can't fill. Usually I go there on a date, but I have also taken my 4-yr old. Located in the Worldgate Shopping Center, between the cinema and the hotel. Parking is in short supply on the upper level, but there is a large free parking deck below. After dinner it is a short walk to theatres for a movie. The hotel tends to draw a lot of interesting business travelers - good for conversation.
