Got the Matco Service name out of Shepherds Guide, a guide for advertising a Christian business. Called and explained problem and asked for bid. Two other companies had bid to repair my problem at almost $1,000 dollars. Jeff came by, looked at my unit and said that there was an easy fix and that he would be done in less than 30 minutes. There was a broken fitting on the end of my evaporator unit and the main drain into my home sewer line as broken. Water was dripping into my emergency pan. Jeff tilted my evaporator housing the other way, reconnected the plumbing into my home sewer system and all is great. Jeff could have quoted me the same almost $1,000 as the others, but, no.... Jeff fixed my problem for an extremely reasonable price, less than 15% of the other quotes, and was done in about 20 minutes. It was great to work with a man having such integrity. Jeff could have told me that the entire evaporator needed to be replaced like the others.... Instead, he got up into my hot attic during the middle of the day and did the right thing. Matco Service is an outstanding company and their owner Gary went the extra mile for my family. We highly recommend this company. We had the same problem with our heater due to the fact that it was a low end model and he explained to us that it would work more efficiently if the unit was moved to the garage. In Texas where the temperatures fluxuate to such extremes his recommendation of leaving the water turned on to drip is commonly used and well known to keep your pipes from freezing. Even the local news stations publically broadcast this information. Thanks to his recommendations our system was moved to our garage and we no longer have any difficulties. Our tankless hot water heater that Matco recommended and installed froze when the temperatrures dropped below 20 degrees. I called them and they sent the owner "Gary"....he spoke down to my wife, she called me at work to try and talk to him. He interupted me several times, and said we should have bought an outdoor unit for our attic? When I told him that his company recommended this unit he said, "no we didn't". He then proceeded to tell me this is not normal weather for Texas? I have lived here all my life and I know that it always gets cold in February....most every winter we have a day or two in the teens!..... We paid them well over $1,000 to install and we got $0 of customer service. He then recommended we leave the water running when it get's this cold....what a great solution! Never leave town when it is below freezing? Sad business management.....I feel sorry for his employees. Pros: He came out right away...only to criticize us Cons: Horrible demeanor more
