Matador Cigars is the best lounge in Long Island. I spend lots of time here and find it to be very enjoyable, relaxing and rewarding. The people working there and also the cigar smokers are all wonderful and very respectable and courteous. Matadors is a tucked away lil gold mine for cigar aficionados! Relaxing, great environment, superbly stocked humidor, pool table, refreshments and pizza next door! It doesn't get much better than that! more

I moved to Roslyn Heights and needed a new humidor. I talked to Frankie and bought a great humidor which he taught he how to "season". He then advised me to come over to meet the gang any night for pool and hanging around. I now go several days/nights a week to hang around and buy all my stuff. I rented a locker--- this place is a must-see for any cigar-lover who needs a great place to smoke with the gang. Boris and the whole staff know their cigars but more importantly don't try to oversell or just give you the highest rated "flavor of the week' they work with you to find what fits you. I am a retailer and I cannot recommend a place more highly !!!! more

This is probably the most magnificent cigar lounge in the NYC metropolitan area (rivals anything in Manhattan too). Handsomely appointed and beautifully lit - you won't believe your eyes when you see it. The owner made a huge investment in this place. An awesome selection of cigars housed in the best possible conditions. They even have special discounts on certain cigars that are fabulous deals. The clientele is a mixed bag of people just like those at virtually every other cigar lounge. Matador is the real deal! more

So its like this, Boris & the boys are great, the selection of sticks there is top flight, the place is kept clean, neat and updated. They host some of the top names in the tabacco industry. They are knowledgeable and friendly. There was an incident where some of the patrons got loud and nasty and to his credit, Boris asked some of these guys to take a powder and not come back. That was a move that took guts and pride. Anyone who owns a public establishment has a right to want his place to be right for the "MAJORITY" and not for just the loudest, crass low lifers. I've been going to Matador for about a year. It's a great place to have cigars. Fantastic atmosphere, great place to go with friends who also enjoy cigars. I was just there and took some out of town business associates there too. Everyone enjoyed the place very much. more

I have been smoking cigars for a very long time, and have visited all the fancy cigar lounges in Manhattan. Matador Cigars gives you the feel of a very high end Cigar lounge without being pretentious. Not to mention the most unbelievable cigar selection on Long Island. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. There are no membership requirements. Just buy a cigar and hang out. This place is fantastic, and very very clean. The girl lounge attendants are a nice addition as well. The best place I have seen in a very long time. more

I have frequented Matador since it opened, and have watched the massive decline ever since then. More often than not, the decline has been caused by the callous owner. The owner, "Boring Borat" constantly has a dumb grimace on his face and usually points to his watch when he feels its time for you to buy another overpriced cigar from his dried out inventory. All the nice people have gone back to TP's or joined Carltun in the Park. Everyone is sitting around watching Mel turn purple when he laughs, hoping for him to stroke out or just have a heart attack and be taken away for good. I have never met a more jealous and vindictive worm as this guy. You make friends here but they all snipe behind your back. We got a guy that brings food for everyone, plays pool and chess, a really great guy, a marvelous guy, but he wears a horrible toupe. The minute the guy walks out the door everyone from Borat on down starts cutting the guy down, make several "rug" jokes: one guy said, "you never have to worry about him getting hair in the sauce". One windy day last month they had a pool going to bet on when his wig would fly off. You come in to relax and you leave miserable, overcharged, and sniped on by guys you thought were your friends. I paid $100.00 for a locker to store my cigars and plan to leave at the end of this rental. Pros: Decor is FABULOUS, FABULOUS!!! Cons: Overbearing, money hungry owner and phony friends. more

Friendly people, great place highly recommend. This is such a great place that I drive 45 minutes to get there. Boris is a real gentleman and the cigars are top notch. My first experience at matador cigars was the friendly staff greeting me as i walked through the door in august of 2008. The fees for their lockers was reasonable so I purchased one for a year. Their prices are comparable to other shops near by, but their large cigar selection is hard to be beat. They also have cigars that are hard to come by like god of fire and opus x. The shop is also located near roslyn high school as well as being 1 1/2 miles from my house, so despite the winter weather, I can always make it to the shop. Also, they open relatively early so when I get out of work, they are open at 10am everyday and 11am on sunday mornings. In the late evenings they are usually open till 1130pm and 1230 am friday and saturday nights...I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a great place to meet new people. more

OK, I have to start off telling you that I am a Veteran cigar smoker and have visited Just about all of the cigar lounges on long island and I have to say that this is the best place to sit down and have a smoke, meet friendly people, and network. I have visited this lounge in the morning, Afternoon and at night and have always been met with a smile, an incredible selection of smokes, and some of the friendliest people to grab a smoke with and shoot a game of pool while watching some television, or once in a while a DVD. If your ever in the area, just off the 495, (Ever stuck in traffic) I suggest you stop in and take a look, Youll be amazed! Pros: Great selection and comfortable atmosphere more
