WPI lives in the long shadow of MIT, as the "other" technical college in Massachusetts. Although it may not be as esteemed as MIT, WPI is well-known for producing graduates that are primed for entering the workforce as productive employees. WPI stresses project work and team work, and requires that its graduates finish 3 major projects before graduating (known as the Sufficiency, IQP, and MQP). Professors are very dedicated and the unique 7-week quarters are unique for a college. WPI also emphasizes co-op and practical experience for students, which makes students more marketable to companies that are familiar with WPI.
