The poor reviews about this school are absolutely correct! I can vouch from experience and regret ever using this “school”. Do NOT send your children here! None of the “teachers”...

In the 3+ years that our daughter has been attending Mary Sears, we know that each day she will not only continue to develop her cognitive skills through the personalized attention from her teachers but also that she is spending her time surrounded by nurturing and caring staff. I attended Mary Sears when I was a child and now my daughter attends and loves it. more

When it came time to find a daycare for our first child, we interviewed several in the area. After meeting with Mr. John and his staff, we knew that Mary Sears was the right place for us. We chose Mary Sears for a variety of reasons. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The classrooms are vibrant, well-organized places to learn. The staff gets to know you and your family. They recognize the individual needs of each child. They are always willing to answer questions at any time. Our children love their school and miss it when we are on vacation. In fact, Katie cried for days when I had her stay home with me during my maternity leave with the twins! We also appreciate the academic program found in each of the classrooms. Centers are designed for children to explore their interests, but also to build solid foundations for elementary school. Mary Sears has cared for all five of our children from the ages of three months to kindergarten. Our oldest two, Mike and Katie, are excelling in elementary school and we couldn’t be happier with how prepared they were. Abbie will attend kindergarten at Mary Sears in the fall and Matt and Mia will be in the three year old preschool room. It’s hard to believe that in a few years, our time at Mary Sears will come to an end. more

Mary Sears is a wonderfully caring, safe and nurturing facility that has definitely been an important part of the lives of my children. My 5 year old has been at Mary Sears for almost 3 years and has made friends of both staff and other students. My 2 year old has been there almost 1 year and has flourished into a wonderfully inquisitive little toddler. Both my husband and I have to work full time and it is comforting to know that I have left my girls in the loving and capable hands of Mary Sears and with so many other things in their lives to worry about – I’m glad that childcare is not one of my concerns. I would recommend the facility to anyone asks and further appreciate all the support and empathy they facility provides my family more

Being the mother of three beautiful girls and having to work full time it was very difficult for me to even think about putting them into someone else's care. My first choice was not the right for my family, however choosing Mary Sears in Orland Park was. From the first time my husband and I took a walk through their school and met those whom made the place such a warm, yet outstanding child education and care center, we knew this was the place for us. Although somewhat reluctant due to our previous experience, Mary Sears, Orland Park proved to us we made the right decision this time around. Even though we drive from a distance to attend this center versus the one closer to our home, we could not imagine having been anywhere else. I am sure that any of the Mary Sears locations are just as great, but our family is VERY sad to say good bye at the end of next year to a great staff and childcare center. Trust me when I say, THEY ARE THE BEST and will be truly missed, yet remembered by our family! Thank you for all that you do everyday to make a difference in a child's life! more

Please don't send your kids here! 5/19/2011

The poor reviews about this school are absolutely correct! I can vouch from experience and regret ever using this “school”. Do NOT send your children here! None of the “teachers” are certified and anyone in a position of power is related to the director. They are given carte blanche to do or say whatever they want. They put on a lovely dog and pony show for parents about how the “children come first”. However, after the parents leave they just let children sit and cry, and actually yell at staffers who try to comfort the children! Mary Sears talks about a lot about R-E-S-P-E-C-T but they don’t show any respect to the children OR to the staff! The school “rules” state that children should “never be talked down to”, but this is routinely ignored by bitter and mean sarcastic “teachers” who demean the children and mock them. Screaming at a three year old to “RESPECT!” means nothing if you don’t set the example for them. I recently took a course in classroom management and everything the instructor discussed about having consistent rules and a calm and caring atmosphere was never followed at Mary Sears. They would routinely make up new “rules” on the spot that didn’t exist before, and spend more time spying on each other and engaging in gossip than watching their own classrooms. They break their own “rules” about how males are not to be with the children when they go to the bathroom. What they claim goes on and what actually occurs are completely different things. I know what my children experienced and they are NOT liars. Mary Sears is a terrible institution and more like a boot camp that any kind of loving nurturing environment. I hope this place gets shut down. more

Great School....Highly Recommended! 7/10/2009

My daughter has been attending Mary Sears for 1.5 years. She began there as an infant and is now almost 2. I am so pleased with this school. I am extremely picky and researched many schools before deciding on Mary Sears. The staff is wonderful. They are caring, extremely nurturing and make sure that my daughter always has a happy day. The school is extremely clean and very well run. The curriculum that she receives is fabulous. I could not say enough good things about this school. more

5 star 7/8/2009

My children have been attending Mary Sears for a 5 years now and I am happy to say that they have been well taken care of, well nurtured, and most of all taught respect. People misuse a companies policy and they also are very ungrateful and selfish, because are in this world for themselves and not for the well being for children. Mary Sears' #1 concern is the children and they are taught to respect their peers and they are taught to respect their teachers... I couldn't ask for anything better; the staff are very kind, the education is well taught, the well being of the school, the cleanliess, and the organization and how everything is handled is way beyond what I could ever ask for when it comes to my child's education. I am honored and proud to say that my children attend Mary Sears Children's Academy! Pros: the best education that my child has received... more
