My 6-year-old daughter has been taking karate classes here for over a year, and we’re very happy with the program. The owner is also the one who teaches her classes. He’s great with the kids. They seem to really like him, and he handles discipline in class very well. The environment there is very positive, which I like. Besides teaching the karate moves, he also focuses on life skills like confidence, perseverance, respect, 100% effort, and they can earn badges in those areas.\r
I’m really glad we started her in the program when we did. She gets kind of restless from sitting in school during the day, and then after karate class she’s much more peaceful. Also, the life skills part has been a great help to us in talking to her about some areas we wanted her to work on. They also talk about self-defense in a non-scary way as part of the classes. They talk about being aware of your surroundings, and what to do if a ‘bad guy’ tries to grab you. I think it does make them more aware and prepared without them really thinking too much about what exactly could happen.\r
