Good cupcakes, bad practices 2/16/2009

The cupcakes are good but the staff is awful. Every time I go there go buy anything to go or to stay the staff does something filthy that I catch. They sneeze into their hands and then handle the food, I've seen them wipe their noses while they're standing around and don't wash up before helping people. I can only imagine how the rest of the place is run when the people up front aren't aware of how disgusting they're being. Pros: Good cupcakes Cons: ...if you don't mind somebody's snot on them. more

Oh, the cupcakes! 3/10/2008

Being a baker myself, I'm incredibly picky about bakeries. I can't possibly claim to have tried all the bakeries in the city, but I've certainly tried many and Martha's Country Bakery is my favorite. It's simply outstanding! I have yet to try their pies but the cookies are simple (as I believe a cookie should be) and delicious. \r On to the cupcakes-so wonderful! They carry several varieties, from your basic vanilla/chocolate and chocolate/chocolate to chocolate/oreo, chocolate/peanut butter and butter/pistachio (cake/frosting). All of the buttercreams are fantastic (not too sweet, no greasy feeling) but the chocolate....simply divine!\r AND they're expanding-so, yay! Pros: CLEAN!, decor, open late, friendly service, very well managed Cons: I want to eat everything! more

Best Cupcakes EVER 2/21/2008

I am in the cupcake club and must say that this place seriously has the best cupcakes in the city. LOVE, love, love it. Super cute interior and friendly feeling. The most unique cupcake I have found is the chocolate with vanila oreo frosting! A must have. more

Yummy Cupcakes! 2/26/2007

Wow this was a real treat to find. I've tried so many bakeries throughout the city to see who has the best cupcakes and this one is definitely it. It's moist and not overly sweet. They acutally have the best chocolate cupcakes. It's moist and flavorful not dry like most of the more famous bakeries out there. They also got the chocolate frosting right. Acutally out of the 6 cupcakes i've tried , all frosting was superb.. not overly sweet and complimented the cake flavors perfectly. Vanilla was good, chocolate with vanilla was excellent. Pistacio was good, black forest was great. All of them not overly sweet and just the perfect amount of flavor. This bakery has the right balance of sweetness for the cupcakes. SO going back to try the others! Pros: Great cupcakes, pastries, coffee, quick and courteous service. Cons: parking, can get crowded on weekends, small sitting area. more
