Great food, fun atmosphere 3/26/2008

First off, our table of 6 was seated immediately on a Saturday night at 7pm. It's a big, semi-boisterus, carnival like room, very nice overall. The menu is huge w/ something for everyone. Usually I'm apprehensive about such large menu's because frequently everything turns out mediocre, in this case all our dishes tasted excellent. The service is very good and they had no problem letting us linger. Also, when I left it up to the waiter's discretion to choose a glass of wine that would go well w/ my red meat, he brought back a great-tasting glass that I was sure would be an expensive cabernet, instead when I got the bill it was half what I thought and his selection was excellent, always a sign of a caring waiter. The prices are expensive but in-line for this type of restaurant in Southern Florida. I don't think one could go very wrong here and I would highly recommend it, enjoy! more

Utterly Disappointing 1/28/2008

First of all, I made reservations for two about 4 days prior. When we got there we were sat at a table next to the kitchen - against a table which was used for putting down wine bottles, plates, napkins and silverware.... Plus we were also seated next to two very large tables of people who - along with the waitresses/waiters kept bumping into our chairs throughout the night. So not only were we frustrated with our seating but when we began our meal we had a waitress who was not very good to begin with but then in the middle of our meal the waitress changed to a waiter...We had one person waiting on us in the beginning and a different person towards the end. How incredibly frustrating! To top things off the food was incredibly disappointing - just like EVERYTHING else! Please do not waste your time with this place. Pros: N/A Cons: EVERYTHING more

one star experience at five star prices 7/8/2007

Wow, we did not expect from the moment our amuse bouche was presented that it would be all down hill from there... Our waiter was lazy at best and did a fine job convincing his tables that he would rather be anywhere and doing anything other than what he was doing at the present moment. Great first impression on a restaurant! The kitchen ran out of several appetizers and several entree choices, which would be acceptable in a restaurant that DID NOT have 35% percent of its tables open from 8:30 pm on.. Ordered an appetizer of mussles that arrived at our table cold and had absolutely no taste whatsoever. When we explained this to the waiter, he commented that he noticed that they looked ""very milky"" when bringing them out to us. What is the point of telling us that he ""noticed"" something if he does nothing about it.? We reordered another appetizer, the clam bake which was mediocre at best and a super rip-off for the 10 or so itsy bitsy clams we received. We ordered the beef tenderloin with carmalized onions and the veal loin for entrees and both were absolutely TERRIBLE. The beef tenderloin was so sweet, as if the cook, to speed up the process, added sugar to the onions and that was pretty much the flavor profile of that dish... beef and sugar... yum! The veal loin came out raw, not rare or medium rare as requested, raw... and seared on the outside to hide the rawness and drenched in a very terrible sauce of some sort... We ate what we could because we were starving and the waiter let us know how uninterested he was to remedy this meal. We paid our $200.00 and got out of there! What a mess. Never again. There are so many better restaurants in the area and they have to be insane to charge prices that rival the BEST RESTAURANTS in South Florida and serve up garbage and has service that would make a Cheesecake Factory look like fine dining more

Disappointment, Bad Service, Overpriced 12/15/2006

We went to Mark's recently with a part of 5 for a birthday celebration. It took 5 minutes of us sitting down to get any water or drink orders placed, and there were only two other tables occupied besides ours. The waiters were unhelpful and unknowledgeable when we asked questions about certain menu items which we did not know about, repeadily they had to leave to go ""ask"" someone. The menu although quite extensive is outrageously overpriced, even for Las Olas. $12 for a small salad and $42+ for most entrees or ""specialities"". The food is presented nicely but thats where it stops. Pros: Unique Menu, Atmosphere Cons: Overpriced, Poor Service more

you get what you pay for 10/30/2006

this place has excellent food, and a varity of unique and tempting dishes. there is something for everyone on the menu, except if your a chicken fingers person-check the kids menu, but if you are, don't take poor buds here. good food only! more

Overpriced, mediocre, colossal disappointment 3/5/2006

I was looking forward to a special evening here. I have heard so much of this Chef, and I was told that this place was one of the top restaurants in the area. I can't believe that so many reviews are so wrong---but they are. Wildly overpriced, the food was no better than what you get at a chain like Outback or The Olive Garden, for double the price. The pasta in particular was outlandishly mediocre without flavor or texture. The ambience is nice, for sure, but isn't that the bare minimum when you pay $90 a head for a place? Stay away. more

Spend your money elsewhere - poor service 1/5/2006

Expecting to spend a couple hundred dollars on dinner for New Year's Eve we ended up walking out. After a problem at the bar with rude comments and poor service we asked to speak to a manager. He came over and spoke over us, was rude, and made it sound like we were lying. We asked him if we owed anything and he said no. We would not spend money with a place that treats customers so poorly. Save your money for a nicer place - this was not it. Cons: Service, atmosphere, value more
