Market Place Mall

I am not a big shopper when it comes to malls but I find I really do enjoy the Market Place Mall. I like that it has a nice size food court with many choices (even a family of four can't seem to all agree on the same type of food). Usually we have some lunch then it's time for a spin on the carousel convenient located in the food court area. Then it's time to walk around and see just what is going on. There are quite a few stores around, I usually stick to Children's place, Victoria Secrets, Sears and Walden books, but I don't mind walking around and seeing who has sales and what is going on. It never fails at Christmas and Easter there is Santa or the Easter bunny ready for pictures. The highlight of the even would be taking the kids over to the mall playground for a little play time before we head home. The oldest is almost too old for the playground but I am sure she won't want to go after long anyway, but the little one (18 months) loves to go and play. He can slide, drive the ambulance or crawl through the doctor bag tunnel. He just has a blast. My only complaint would be the front entrance needs a gate for the master escape artists. I am there either my kids, my friend’s kids or just kids there are trying to leave. All in all it is a fun and exhausting day at the mall. more

For the area, this is a pretty good mall. If you're used to a bigger city mall, then you will find it lacking some things you might be used to (Nordstrom, Saks, etc.) but it's really improving. They have several anchor stores - Bergners, Sears, Famous Barr, etc. and a lot of smaller retail stores. Everything from shoes to apparel to sporting goods. They just added a new addition with a food court and more stores. It's definitely a great mall for the area and getting better each year. They usually sponsor a lot of local activities too, like trick or treating at the stores on halloween, art displays for contests of local school children, antique shows, etc. more

It is a traditional shopping mall. It has food, apparel, books, electronics, brand stores, etc, almost everything. But it is not as big as those in the big cities. And many brand stores can not be found here. In different seasons, there are activities inside, such as the children's playground. more

As malls go, this one can't compete with Chicago or St. Louis for unique shopping experiences. That said, it does offer a good selection of regular mall stores. Anchored by Famous Barr and Bergner's-you will find the traditional stores here. So, if you want unique shopping-go someplace else, but if you want a typical mall experience-this is the place. more

Market Place Mall is a great family friendly shopping center. There is a wide variety of stores to select from for clothing, electronics, personal care and gifts. It is family friendly with an indoor play area for younger kids, an arcade, a beautiful merry go round and family restrooms. There is a large selection eateries available in several places for a snack or a meal. The only thing I wish this mall had was a sit down family restauraunt instead of just fast food and I miss the osco's that was once there. There is no longer a place to purchase just everday simple items inside of the mall. Gift certificates from Market place make great gift for many occassions. more
