Review of Our Dealer 3/28/2012

The dealer that help me and my mother was Jay. He helped us three years ago when she brought her corolla and today she traded it in for a Camry. The service was EXCELLENT, as always. They gave us exactly what we wanted and with a good price. We always enjoy coming to mark jacobs because the service is always speedy and great. I hope Jay is still around when I am able to buy a car. more

NC Department of Justice VehComplaintID 1197 False advertising complaint filed 8-19-2011 with the North Carolina Dept of Justice against Mark Jacobson Toyota of Durham NC and Toyota USA Attached to complaint was Title application showing Prius III, screen shot of Google search for VIN showing the car advertised as a Prius III and the sales contract. Mark Jacobson Toyota of Durham NC is engaged in ongoing false advertising. On their website they claim to guarantee complete customer satisfaction which is not true. My case alone is proof of that. On 6-25-2011 I was sold a 2011 Toyota Prius II that was stated by the sales person and everyone involved to be a Prius III for $29714.40 A few days later I discovered it to only be a Prius 2 even though they even stated Prius III on the title documentation. I have a web printout of a Google search of the VIN that shows them advertising it as a Prius III. While not denying their false advertising they only offered to roll back the deal. That was unacceptable to us because of the time and effort in securing financing and that there were no other low mileage Prius models available. The dealership was well aware of the time and energy we had spent obtaining financing and they were aware that there were no low mileage or new Prius cars available so they knew that their offer to roll back the deal would not be acceptable. To establish that an advertisement is false, a plaintiff must prove five things: (1) a false statement of fact has been made about the advertiser's own or another person's goods, services, or commercial activity; (2) the statement either deceives or has the potential to deceive a substantial portion of its targeted audience; (3) the deception is also likely to affect the purchasing decisions of its audience; (4) the advertising involves goods or services in interstate commerce; and (5) the deception has either resulted in or is likely to result in injury to the plaintiff... more

John always followed up with me at the time that he told me he would. He was never pushy, only provided me with the facts about the vehicle. I was so confident I made the right purchase that when I did learn of the recalls, it did not make me second guess my decision. Great service from knowledgeable and considerate people. more

...but the folks at this dealership are completely clueless about what good customer service means. anyone and everyone KNOWS that the essence of GOOD customer service is forming a relationship with customers – a relationship that that individual customer feels that they would like to pursue. Hint to the "salespeople", you're judged by what you DO/NOT DO. After speaking to one of the "salespeople", they urged me to come in. They met me at the door and sat me down for HOURS. Somewhere along the line, it never occured to them that the key to success for any salesperson is being HELPFUL. I don't think it's too much to ask for them to DO THEIR JOB! It seems the salespeople are BLATANTLY ONLY interested in making the sale. It would be nice if they could just PRETEND to be interested in the CUSTOMER. After all, if it were not for the customer, Mark Jacobson would NEVER be in business. The disorganization and the non-communication that goes on in the place is mind boggling. Maybe Mark Jacobson should develop some type of CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING program for the salespeople. There's tons of other dealers in the area, please visit them. more

This place is awesome, there are a couple loudmouth salesman , but most are good, and the guy named ron up front is quite sociable. bought my car and service my car here, never had any problems. i read these last few, and sure sometime a mistake happens, but you cant count a place out because of one saleman or one bad oil change. I would never take my toyota anywhere else! more

Mark Jacobson Toyota never fails to deliver the best, quickest, and most consistently excellent service. I purchased my 2008 Prius here (my first new car!) from Frank, by far the sweetest, most helpful car salesperson I have ever met, and I have been coming here for service ever since. I've owned more than a few cars in my life and, like most, dreaded it whenever time came around to purchase a new one. Ugh, I *hate* haggling. What's cool about Mark Jacobson, though, is that the whole process is haggle free. They choose a reasonable, competitive price and that's what you pay. It's nice, having that stress out of the way, so they can focus on providing me with excellent customer service. Every year on my car's anniversary, Frank sends me a card with a handwritten note inside. It's a small gesture, but I love it. Of course, setting up the payment info still takes forever, but they're super nice, get you the payment plan you want, and there is complimentary water, tea, and coffee, as well as snacks to purchase if you get peckish during your wait. I find the mechanics competent and informed. I never feel like they're trying to nickel and dime me for things I don't need, like I used to when I went to chain oil change garages. I find the summary report at the end of the service very thorough. Their shuttle service is super helpful if you need to drop your car off in the morning---the service center is open 7 to 7 on weekdays, with only slightly shorter hours on the weekends!---head to work, then get picked up again in the afternoon. The shuttle service is reliable and the drivers are courteous and friendly. There's also the option of hanging in the waiting area, which is comfy and clean, with a big TV and free wifi. On visits during non-peak hours, they can easily change your oil and, say, two tires in under an hour. Also, it's just across the street from TJ Maxx and some other shops, so it's a cinch to kill the time. more
