Tex Mex in Weho 1/15/2012

I've been going to this place for quite a while now. The drink specials are incredible and happy hour is a must. The food has been consistently tasty which I commend the place for however I can't say the same for their staff. A couple of their waiters would benefit from classes in social etiquette and common courtesy. This is the only reason I've given them 3 starts. Most of the time I've had a great experience. The place is actually quite comfy. They have a retractable roof which they open when the weather permits and you can actually dine under the stars. Great concept just a few crummy employees. With that said, roll the dice and check out the place. Chances are you'll probably have an above average meal and dining experience. more

Marix is great if you look at the big picture. There is a ton of eye candy, great place to be seen, great drinks and the place can get bumpin. But, the food is average. But the ambiance compensates for the mediocre food. All in all, it's an above average place. For the health concious weho audience - ask for no or light oil on the fajita plates. Pros: eye candy, booze and shake shake shake Cons: can get tight/crowded, food is average more

Really insulted by staff - don't waste your money here 11/28/2008

I recently had dinner at Marix on a Friday night. Our party of three had an appetizer, 2 pitchers on margaritas and 3 meals. Everything was great (food and service) until our greedy waiter asked us to leave after we paid for our meal, oh wait, I mean, after he got his tip. Then he was done. We were informed that there was a 90 minute limit on our table & that we should go. And funny, we were just about to leave so if he could have waited just a few minutes I wouldn't be ranting. It would have been nice if that is an issue there, to have been informed earlier in our visit. We may have ordered less food and drinks so we wouldn't have stayed so long. And on their website it says, ""expect a wait for a table"" so if we're supposed to expect a wait - then why say anything to the folks who are spending money in the restaurant? So we complained to the apathetic manager on duty who listened to us and really didn't care that we were unhappy with the way we were treated. So if you are a glutton for punishment and want to waste your money on an establishment that isn't looking for repeat business - go ahead and enjoy the splendors of Marix Tex Mex Cafe!!!! They hate you already! Cons: Worst restaurant in LA - don't go more

My co-workers and I went for happy hour on a Friday. After a couple of stressful weeks in the office, this was exactly what we needed. The atmosphere was perfect, the drinks refreshing......... And the food was awesome! I would totally recommend Marix to any group looking to just chill out. more

Steak Quesadillas are the 8/18/2008

So we'd gone to this place for happy hour courtesy of our fabulous boss for a job well donet...What a blast! Great margaritas, tasty chips and salsa (no double dipping from the big unity salsa) The appetizers were reasonable priced too....My favorite part of the place aside from those Dang-On Steaks Quesadillas were the retractable ceiling...I had a great time we were able to laugh and joke and the noise level was not an issue..the background music was hot and the people were friendly...it was a very welcoming place for all types of people...very casual place to hang...I would totally recommend this place to anyone and when you go you have to get the ""Steak Quesadillas"" they are FABULOUS!!!!!!!!! Did I mention that? We are totally going back. more

My co worker and I went to Marix Cafe for the first time for happy hour and had a great time. The workers were very friendly and nice. The margaritas were great and the food too. It was pretty packed and it was like 5pm on a friday. I would recommend it Pros: Love it because your inside but feel like your outside. Cons: Not a lot of seats more
