Mario's Mexican Restaurant

This is definitely a favorite locals' hangout. Nice place too --not a dive. Great food, great service, great prices. What more do you want?! There's a lot of good Mexican food around but you won't find any that's any better than Mario's. Great margaritas. Even when they're very busy we have never had to wait long for a table. We go here a lot and highly recommend it. more

I love, love, LOVE Mario's. I've been going since the old location - when it was still named Manuel's, even. There's no doubt that it's not 100% authentic Mexican, and it's too classy to be straight TexMex. It's just... delicious. I live in San Antonio now and have Mario's cravings very often. Every time I visit Houston, I go there if possible. The service is outstanding - everyone is so nice, and Mario himself is a great man. I've never had a bad meal there. The decor is pleasant, and even though it's not in THE most visible area, it still gets a lot of traffic. Most people tend to become frequent customers. My only regrets are that it's not a chain (though it undoubtedly would be difficult to maintain such excellence if spaced out), that it isn't open 24 hours every day of the year, and that I can only eat there so often. I wish more people could experience this restaurant. This is one of my favorites, if not the absolute favorite. EAT HERE! You won't regret it. Pros: everything Cons: not open 24-hours more
