Perfect!! 7/25/2011

My parents grew up in the Marina and they have been linked to Lucca's for years. You walk in the front door and you just get enveloped in the smell of the Italian food waiting inside. They have the best deli meats and cheeses and be sure to pick up some raviolis to take home. Mozzarella is shipped in fresh from Italy twice a week as well. This place just reminds me why I like being Italian. more

Marios deli 8/11/2010

I have never been disspointed!!!!!!!!!! ah, their sandwiches are something else. My mouth waters just thinking about it. Get their spicy italian! more

Eat at Mario's 8/3/2010

My husband and I have bought subs from this Italian market for 40 years. You have to wait in line to order at lunch time but it's well worth the wait for a fresh sandwich made with good quality meats and cheeses. Also do a little shopping for dinner while you wait. more

best subs! 6/24/2010

i stopped by one time for lunch since it's so close to my office and i was really impressed on how fresh and delicious their subs are at this place. i'll recommend their spicy ham to my friends- it's really good! more

italian deli 5/28/2010

Great place if you want some authentic Italian Deli foods. Its just like a typical NY Italian Deli...A friend took me here one day since it was near her place and I loved it. They have all sorts of sandwhiches, wines, and pizzas. \r My favorite is the S.O.B. so extremely good. The bread is always fresh and their meats are great. Try their pastrami if you have a chance. it is amazing more

2nd Best Sandwich in LA 5/8/2010

I honestly didn't think sandwiches got any better than the Godmother from Bay Cities, but today I tried the S.O.B. from Mario's and I have to say that this beast of a sandwich gives my all time favorite meaty cheesy drippy veggie filled masterpiece a run for its money. Now while its too early to crown the S.O.B. best sandwich in Los Angeles, I can definitely say that it has what it takes to be named the heir apparent. Its BIG Its BAD and trust me this bad boy will blow your house down. I don't know how else to say except that the S.O.B. is one mean mother bleeper and if your a big boy with a big appetite then the S.O.B. is right up your alley. And for those of you who are wondering just how big and bad this sandwich is. Lets just say that the the S.O.B. is the Big Mac of deli sandwiches. Huh, a Big Mac did this guy just say a Big Mac? Thats right I said Big Mac. No there aren't two all beef patties special sauce lettuce too tucked in between a sesame seed bun. Nope, no greasy beef here just pure nomness, but the S.O.B. does boast a ""Middle Bread"" just like the famed sammy from Micky D's. So I guess I'll end on that... Middle Bread.... Whats up now.... Pros: Awesome selection of sandwich more

Mario's Italian Deli, Catering & Market is good 9/22/2009

Mario's Italian Deli is not that bad, the subs are a good size for the price, I like to buy the pesto sauce thought it is the best and I also like to buy their mozarella cheese more

the best in L.A. 11/12/2008

I worked at Mario's in the 80's and I can vouch for the quality and selection of imported cheeses and groceries available.Homemade sausage is the BEST!!!.Be prepared to wait on weekends,as this place was packed 3 deep (30-50)people on Saturdays from open to close!!!There is also a big lunch crowd so call ahead to place your orders if you are in a hurry. This place is the real deal and I recommend marios to anyone who loves italian cusine! more

Food is Good but it takes FOREVER 11/5/2007

I am from the east coast - so maybe it's a bias I have being used to people moving quickly (especially in the food service industry). The food is good - no complaint there. But it takes way too long to have sandwiches made and it ends up being a 30 minute situation when it should've been 5 minutes... more

Just the Best Italian Deli Around! 5/11/2007

When I first moved to CA, I was constantly on the lookout for REALLY great Italian food. And I don't mean just good, I mean great. The kind of great where you can't really think of anything better. That is how I came to learn about Mario's. The food is superb and the grocery store stocks a variety of Italian delicacies. Though I now live on the west side, if I am anywhere in the vicinity, I make sure to stop and get my favorite meatball sandwich. My family won't forgive me if I don't bring something back for them too.\r \r There is not much ambiance as the deli is located in a grocery store, but the food is AMAZING. I feel contented with the first bite I take.\r \r If you are lucky enough to live nearby, you are in an enviable position. If you don't live close, it is worth the extra effort to get there. more

One of a Kind. 6/4/2006

Phone orders were very welcomed, and what authentic Food. Our kids met with the owners, Italian, and very clean environment. This place just cranks out specialty food product. Great Market. Will consider for our Kids Graduation in the Catering Dept. Pros: seating up to 6, freindly, quality Cons: closes at 6:30, delivery charge more

Pure Italian 1/25/2006

Having been raised in Glendale, my experiences with Mario's go back over 30 years. It still looks the same as it always has and the food is second to none. The sandwiches are fresh and always great, and the Italian groceries are awesome. The place looks and smells the way an Italian deli should--like Italy. It's the best Italian market in the LA area. PROS: The salami CONS: There are none more

Good eats 6/8/2005

If you want to find a place that make a great sandwich...this is it. They have a great selection and give good service. The meats they use are of high quality. more

Editorial review from Insider Pages 10/27/2004

A great place for deli meats, fresh bread, and a more-than-creditable sandwich counter. The Pastrami Bad Boy: it must be eaten to be believed. more

Great Subs 4/1/2003

You will not find a better sub-sandwich anywhere!! Located in the heart of Glendale's metro, these guys have been making subs for about 50 years! If you'd like to go to an old fashioned market and have a truly authentic sub....then this is the place to be. The meat and wine selection is wonderful with an aim towards old Italia. Definately worth a try... i'm sure you'll be back for seconds! Pros: delicious subs, old world accents, great selection more
