another mediocre spot 4/4/2003

Sadly like too many of the ""hot"" restaurants in the Nashville area this one is underwhelming. While the staff seems to think they are on the cutting edge the food is average and the while it is not as overpriced as some of its peers in the hot category -- remember Saso and 6 Degrees among others -- it has all of the same shortcomings: Understaffed, average food, unsubstantiated ego. T Pros: decor, bread, servers positive Cons: average food, understaffed, poor value more

absolutely inspiring 2/11/2003

margot cafe is the very best thing nashville has going for it. the bar is quaint and comfortable, the serving staff is hilarious and personable, and the food is perfect. even with a menu of only 5 or 6 entrees it is hard to choose one. i love the open feel of the restaurant and how you can see into the kitchen. it's just perfect, unlike anything else nashville has to offer. more

Awesome!!! 11/11/2002

I went to Cafe Margot on 11/8 and was very surprised by the restaurant. Being jaded by everything else in this city, I wasn't expecting too much. However, I must say that this place wowed me and my roommates beyond all expectations. Everything from the service, decor, appetizers, drinks and food was truly exceptional. It is by far the best restaurant I've been to in this city and I will keep going back. more

A fresh dining delight every day 9/25/2002

Open for diner Tuesday through Saturday, this restaurant earns the title of ""Nashville's best restaurant"" all over again each day. The menu inever gets stale because it is different every day. From appetizer to desert, the food is always a delightful surprize and the wine list is second to none. Add to this the superior service at surprisingly reasonable prices and it's easy to see why this East Nashville establishment has so many regular patrons from all parts of Greater Nashville and beyond. Pros: delightful menu, excellent service, great value Cons: parking more

Great Expectations 9/5/2002

We enter with expectations, knowing that we will see a different menu upon each visit: a different list of appetizers, different entrees, different desserts. The chef changes the menu at Margot's daily. And we look forward to what we know will be a tasting delight. Ms McCormack always has something to please, be it the superb treatment of fish or the pommes frites with flavored aoli. On the last visit, we brought a visitor from Oklahoma, and he feasted on a new dish for all of us, a rabbit lasagna, primed with a wonderful pate' appetizer. Our guest was pleased, just as we are after each and every visit. And we will return again, and again. more

quaint boite 9/4/2002

Cafe Margot is cozy and Mediterranean in feel. The wait staff are friendly, relaxed and well-informed. The ingredients are fresh; it's great to know that there's a new menu selection based on what's in season each time I visit. Wines are pretty pricey, but the entrees aren't bad. Overall, it's a great place to eat! Pros: great setting, consistent quality, friendly service Cons: expensive wine, bad parking, crowded more

big fan 8/15/2002

Excellent atmosphere and food. The best margarita in town. Creative menu. The only negative is that drinks are pricey, particularly wine. A welcome addition to the neighborhood! Pros: food, atmosphere, attention to detail Cons: wine prices more

simply delightful! 8/11/2002

Atmosphere was comfortable. We had reservations and were seated immediately(not like some restaurants that still make you wait a while!) Food and service was worth the extra dollar. We will definitely go back again. The wine was excellent. Waitress very knowledgeable about menu and wine. I can't say enough wonderful things about Margot's Cafe and Bar. Fantastic! Pros: friendly staff, excellent food more

Stay Away 7/30/2002

This place is trendy, that is all. The food was mediocre at best. I will give credit to the cheese selection the night I ate there, but it was, of course, prepared elsewhere. Worst of all, the service is horrible. Somebody needs to tell those people that this is Nashville, not New York. Just because you work in a trendy place does make you so cool you can't be polite. I felt like I was eating in that SNL skit where the store clerks are way too hip to deal with their customers. I am never, ever going back. You should never go. Pros: Ambience Cons: Service, Service, Food more

Ooo la la! 7/30/2002

Everything about Margot is unique and comfortable. The food beautifully combines many culinary styles and we loved that you can look into the kitchen and see Margot working her magic. The most important thing to remember is to NOT deny yourself dessert...the Blueberry Port Wine Cinnamon Cake will change your life! Pros: unique recipes, subtle lighting, Provencial decor Cons: no vegetarian menu more
