The name says it all! 10/21/2008

Margaritaville, New Orleans, was a surprise for me. Never having visited more than the Las Vegas location, I wasn't disappointed in the drinks, food, or service. In fact, the coziness of the N.O. location made it feel a little more ""homey"". The drinks are always top notch, the food is...well, some items are just plain bar and pub choices, while others are a little more involved. There is something on the menu for everyone. The service was good but a little disoriented when we were first seated; I never had to wait on anything so no complaints, it just took a while to figure out who our actual server was. Each member of management came by and checked on our satisfaction; some hung around and had ""tourist"" conversation, which I personally welcome although some do not. Everyone was friendly as I expected, and yes there are alot of tourists there so the crowds come and go. The gift shop is like any of the other locations, a little cramped but had plenty of choices for merchandise. I recommend going there if for nothing else than to see the decor, have yourself a 'rita, and enjoy the tunes! more

good bbq shrimp 6/18/2007

any new orleans native knows that bbq shrimp isnt slathered with bbq sauce, instead it's covered in an oily spiced up mix that keeps the shrimp moist and delicious, this is what this place provides. the service was a bit slow and the atmosphere is toristy. Pros: good bbq shrimp, nice enviorment for familys Cons: slow service, sometimes crowded more

I am a local and well... I LIKE IT! 11/6/2006

I walk in there and I feel like I'm in another world. One made out of beaches with sand and plam trees. Surprisingly, this place isn't really a tourist trap. Their food is moderately priced and they serve the BEST MARGARITAS EVER! Pros: VIP cards for Service Industry workers Cons: Bunch of tourists hang out there more

Good Food Fun restaurant 10/22/2006

Fun place to eat casual. cheesebugers, ribs and beer. parrotheads will love it or anybody who loves margaritas and sand between their toes. more

Not a fast food joint 10/8/2006

I used to live across the street from Margaritaville in New Orleans. The food was always GREAT and the music as well. more

Extremely disappointing food.... 9/20/2006

I ordered takeout: corn and crab bisque and conch fritters. When I arrived at my hotel, a ten minute walk, I opened the bag to find a fork and knife, but no spoon with which to eat the soup. So I pulled out the fork, took a taste of the soup, and lo and behold, it was barely lukewarm, which tells me it was not properly heated before being put in the container. It was then on to the fritters. I opened the styrofoam container to find seven greasy, nearly burned fritters. The edges were actually black. This was 14 dollars worth of food. Because I was starving (and had just spent 14 bucks) I ate the now room temperature soup and a few of the fritters. I would have enjoyed a happy meal more and saved 12 bucks. more

Excellent Mojitos and Margaritas 4/26/2006

As a local, this isn't a place I would go hang out at, since I consider it a 'tourist trap.' Also, the thought of listening to nonstop Jimmy Buffet music makes me want to gag. The decor is cheesy and commercial. I can't speak of the food, I've never tried it. HOWEVER! The margaritas, and especially the mojitos, are absolutely EXCELLENT. makes it worth a stop in there, to get a drink to go and walk around the quarter. a bit pricy, but worth it. and they have a nice balcony upstairs which gets crowded, but if you can snag a seat there, a good view of Decatur St below. the real fun for locals is at Molly's across the street! Pros: great mojitos, drinks are pricy, great balcony Cons: touristy, no variety in music more

GREAT FOOD GREAT SERVICE -SKIP THE STORE 6/19/2005

61905 GREAT DINNER EXCELLENT SERVICE SKIP THE STORE 945pm, I interupted some one vacumming the carpet at the front door. When I asked if they were still open, I was told yes for a few more minutes so ""MAKE IT QUICK"", we went in, I was reminded by the sarcastic salesladies that the store closes at 10pm. It was an indirect comment, they were making amongst themselves. So I decided to leave. But my KIDS were heartbroken. So I asked for the manager, to my surprise she was the ring leader. She was rude and could give a flip about any of my complaints. Luckily my wife remembered seeing some shirts in the resturant for sale. So we went back and the friendly folks in the resturant helped us. As we left the store the manager locked it behind us, it wasn't 10pm another group was trying to get in. Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Kid Friendly Cons: Store was a wreck, Staff was smart asses, Manager was rude more

Rude staff! 5/18/2005

Were yelled at and refused service! Upon entering, followed sign to balcony. Before we got in elevator, hostess grabbed us, said we weren't allowed upstairs without approval, then she said we could go up. When we got upstairs, saw no employees or customers inside. Sat at one of MANY empty balcony tables. Another employee came to our table and told us we had to leave since staff hadn't seated us. We commented we'd seen no employees. She snapped, said we were wrong and 5 employees are on duty at entrance to prevent people like us from entering on our own. Said only place we could sit were tire swings at inside bar. Having been yelled at and not allowed to eat or drink, we left. We looked around entrance, again saw none of the employees who were supposed to have been there. Why spend money where the customer isn't appreciated? Cons: Rude staff more

Drinkin'& Dinin' in 3/4 Time 12/28/2002

Whoever the reviewer was on the home page must have had bad taste buds. I was raised in the South and everything at Margaritaville Cafe meets or exceeds the finest of taste buds. Everything is fresh, even the salad dressings are made daily. The gumbo is a delight, the pasta dishes are mouth watering, and, of course the Chesseburger in Paradise is The best. Every drink at ""the island in the city"" is an exceptional treat. Please Mr/Ms Reviewer, pay another visit. You won't regret it. Pros: Fresh Food, Great atmosphere, Great drinks Cons: Parking more

Third time's a charm... 8/25/2002

And I say that because I wanted to reserve judgement until I'd been there enough to know if one or two good experiences were just flukes. Although I have definite Parrothead tendencies I am leery of places that rely on their ties to someone or something famous to bring in the crowds. Margaritaville does not do this; it works hard for it's patronage. Comfort, value, and entertainment are first in mind when I think of this place. I guess most impressive about Margaritaville is it seems to be somewhere that Jimmy himself would like to hang out--not just a ""If you build it, they will come"" proposition. Oh, and the margaritas come with little toys. Pros: margaritas!, value, live entertainment more

Pirate Looks at the Menu 8/22/2002

Great food selection here! There are so many things to choose from, and everything I have ever tried was delicious and very generous. The spicy crawfish dip is great as an appetizer, as is the spicy shrimp. The jalapeno macacroni and cheese is definitely addicting, and the soft shell crab pasta is to die for! There are many drinks to suit your taste, and they are all fixed generously and served with a smile. The people who work there make you feel at home and appreciated, unlike anyplace I've ever been. THe live music, starting at 3PM each day, is awesome local musicians, and there is no cover charge. Spend a day on the balcony enjoying tthe view of decatur street, or swing at the tire swing bar!Something for everyone. Pros: ambiance, prices, live music more

Wasting away again.. 5/29/2002
