I have been trying for a long time to see what all the talk is about this place. LOts OF FOOD, not much quality.

Marchetti's Calamari... YUM! 6/22/2011

I can't believe I now have that famous Calamari Alla Mama recipe from Marchetti's! It was in the Providence Journal today! For those of you who haven't tried it, you are missing out. That dish and the Chicken Farfalle are just heavenly. This restaurant serves up delicious food, gigantic portions with friendly service. A++++ more

Best italian in RI 6/22/2011

I been going there since i was 10 years old thats 26 years now, Its still my number 1. Food is great, Love the decor and the wait staff is so friendly it feels like im coming home when i walk through the door. Now they added the new patio outside I love it especially on the weekends with the live music. A must try. more

My favorite restaurant for the last 15 years 5/3/2011

Marchetti's has been my favorite place for the last 15 years. Food is always excellent and the service is above average. I normally come in with my wife or a couple of friends but most recently we had a large party. It went off without a hitch so I had to share my experience. With over 25 people, we had multiple servers attending to us and never once did we have to wait for a drink or anything for that matter. Food came out timely and was delicious. They do a fantastic job over there. Looks like this will continue to be my favorite place for years to come, keep up the good work! more

Best restaurant!! 4/26/2011

Marchetti's is my favorite restaurant by far!! The food is great, we have been going there for years and always have a great meal. They give such big portions that everyone leaves w a doggie bag!! The atmosphere is great too! Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. My husband loves the bread and they have to fill the basket 3 times for him! They serve it w oil and garlic which is just delicious! I recommend everyone go see for themselves how great this restaurant is!! more

If you like rodents 12/28/2010

I used to love thos place. Had a mouse in the dining room this evening. Lovely. Did they say ""forget the bill""? Nope, not even an apology. I'm not saying a saw a glimpse of a mouse; the wait staff chased it down with a broom and killed it right in front of our party. Terrible, absolutely unacceptable. They offered us a gift certificate. Don't eat here. Its gross. more

Terrible service, bland food... 10/19/2010

First, when we arrived we were told that the wait would be 10-15 mins., we waited 1 hour! Then our waiter came over with a HUGE attitude, trying to rush us to order (we hadn't even looked at the menu), Our food (I had chicken parm) came out COLD and BLAND. Then we were once again out waiter (KEVIN) tried to rush us out the door, didn't even ask if we wanted desert, which we did, so we left. The service was awful and the food wasn't that great. Get better waitstaff (some without bad attitudes) and stop trying to rush your guests out the door. more

The WORST customer service ever! AVOID AT ALL COSTS 8/27/2010

I had the worst dining experience in my entire life there tonight. The manager had to come to our table no less than three times. Yes they give you tons of food. It's kind of bland and the service just flat out sucks. The hostess is just horrible. Even with a reservation you will wait no less than 1 hour. We had a 6:15 reservation and were not seated till 7pm even though we were told just 10 minutes. Then the waiter was just terrible. Forgot the appetizer, served drinks in a glass with lipstick on it with food. Horrible, horrible. I will never ever return and will tell everyone I know the same. AVOID like the plague! more

In these tough econmic times this restaurant is still packing them in. You get great quality and great value. Go see why you won't be disappointed. It will end up being your favorite restaurant too. more

Best Food In RI 1/25/2008

I go out to eat at least 3 times a week and the only restaurant where the food is always unbelievable is Marchetti's. It has a big menu, the prices are great, and the portions are huge!! The staff is always friendly and i always feel welcome. This is a great family run restaurant with great italian food. If you want a great meal go to Marchetti's!! more

Terrible service, management did nothing to compensate us for horrible experience, and the food was terrible. 12/1/2006

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time! First of all, our waiter came to the table, covered in sweat. GROSS. We ordered a beer each and that order was messed up. No bread, calamari came w/no side dishes. We looked like pigs sharing out of a bowl. Then the salad 1 min later, then BAM, 2 enormous plates of dried up chicken parm was plopped in front of us. Mind you, we still hadn't finished the calamari! We asked why everything came out all at once and he said, ""it's busy in here and we need to get the food out ASAP"". (Which means food out=you out as soon as possible). We complained to managment, and the OWNER and we were not compensated in any way. Just 'oh, i'm sorry'. Well, we can get chicken parm anywhere in the state of RI...without the sweat. more

Was good years ago 2/10/2006

10 or 15 years ago this place was A-1. My wife and I would eat there on a regular basis. We had some problems with the food and the owners/managers couldn't care less! It is true, they give you a LOT on your plate but if it is swill, who wants it? Others that we know noticed the quality go down also and now (for us and people in Cranston that we know) this place is ""OFF LIMITS"" more

Marchetti's=my favorite restaurant ever 8/17/2005

This restaurant is my absolute favorite and mind you I am very picky. How can you not like it here? The food is excellent! Some of my favorites, that are just to die for are the Calamari Alla Mama, Chicken Milanese, Stuffed Mushrooms and Baked stuffed Shrimp. The prices are so reasonable too! The hostess could be a little friendly, she seems a bit stuck up, but the rest of the staff is pretty good. The best salad I have ever had! Huge portions!! I have never once finished a whole meal, I always have left overs! You will not be disappointed! Pros: Huge Portions, Fantastic food, Good prices Cons: snotty hostess, diet pepsi not coke, small bathroom more

One of the best in Rhode Island 4/27/2005

I had to write a review after reading all the horrible reviews I read. I have lived in Rhode Island my entire life and my husband is VERY Italian. His family owned an awesome Italian restaurant for over 50 years and this is one of our favorite Italian restaurants to go to. The food is AWESOME, the value is INCREDIBLE and you cannot beat the service. The margaritas are delicious and cheap. We go there all the time and we have never had a bad experience. If you are a person who likes a LOT of food (but you don't much care about the quality) .... this place is for you! The service is rushed when you don't want it to be and slow when you want to get out. Pros: Quantity, Inexpensive Cons: Quality, Service, Parking more

EXCEPTIONAL 5/19/2004

I am originally from Rhode Island and I always make sure no matter how short my visit I have dinner at Marchetti's. The food is exceptional, It old Italian and you just do jot get that in any other state. People try to duplicate but they can not come close. I tell everyone to make sure they experiance this resturant. Pros: great food, good parking, good value more
