For years I coveted my friend Rebecca's hair. And not just the way it looked. Her experience at the MD Salon. Her cut worked with her, morphing into more fabulous results every season. Her color, top notch, never predictable, never something I'd see on anyone else. But Becca is an artist and chef, with a look I thought would make her salon too cool for me, mother of 3. Not wanting to step on her toes (or chic hair) I avoided trying her salon, and waited till I moved to NC to cut 8"" off my hair. After a series of poor cuts (none of which were edgy enough) I threw my hands up. But on a recent business trip back the MN, I booked an appt at MDS. Now I see what I missed. The first call I made to book was the most warm, delightful interaction I've had with a salon. Daneal, who helped me tremendously, felt like an old friend within minutes. My appt with Hannah/Angie was confirmed ONLINE(!!) and I already felt confident and excited to come. My experience at MDS (3/20) was the best salon experience I have ever had, and I've been coloring my hair since I was 12. Everyone (seriously everyone) that I encountered there seemed to love what they do and seemed to want me to have great hair. I knew they would be skilled, that I'd have great magazines, beverage offers, etc. But I expected a more pretentious experience. Angie/Hannah both consulted with me (and each other) and checked on me throughout the process. They wanted me to be thrilled, and I honestly felt like I could call with a question or concern. My cut/color are unique to me. The color is painted into my hair in a way that flows with my texture and face shape. It is not layers of perfectly spaced stripes. My cut works with my hair so I don't have to fight it to make it work. Angie/Hannah are artists, without the ego. For the first time since one random prom, I left not wanting to 'redo' my hair: it was edgy, cute, fun, and still not looking like a mom trying to be 18. (Noteworthy: It was pouring rain that day and Daneal even offered to give me her umbrella so my hair could stay dry and hot! for my night on the town.) My biggest problem is that I have to find a place that approaches this kind of quality, skill, and customer service in Raleigh, NC. I will need to maintain this cut and color between trips back to MN, and am certain this great experience at MDS will ruin other salons for me. I want to take a salon tour and show other stylists how my hair looks now so that they can match the excellence achieved by Angie/Hannah. I might look a little nutty, however. Thanks MDS! Marc Daniel has brought the urban into suburban. The salon is hip, edgy, clean, high energy and filled with lots of amazing talent. At first you may feel like you stepped into a posh salon in NYC or LA - but soon you will see that everyone is kind, gracious and courteous. They really know how to treat their clients. As soon as I walked into MarcDaniel Salon I felt welcomed; the enviornment was comforting and friendly and I received such welcoming service from them that I felt at home! Everyone seemed well-educated and happy to assist you in any way. It was my first visit and I had bad experiences in the past, so I was skeptical, but I was soon at ease! They gave me a short tour, a menu, hung my jacket for me, and offered me tea, water, coffee, or hot chocolate....it was GREAT! I really felt pampered! I recently visited MarcDaniel Salon and was more than impressed with their customer service and the cut and color that I received. I've been to many salons around the Twin Cities in the past and have changed stylists several times. I was recommended to MarcDaniel Salon from a friend and she guaranteed that I wouldn't be disappointed - she was right! From booking my appointment all the way through paying and making my next appointment, I felt at ease and as though I was truly cared about. The staff at the salon were all very friendly - regardless if they were providing me with a service. The stylists and color techs were very knowledged about the hair products, but not pushy on making a sale. The salon even has online booking from their website, so my future appointments (and yes there will be future appointments) will be booked online at my conveniencce - how great is that!! I have been going to MarcDaniel for about 5 mo now and have never loved a salon more! Being a guy its sometimes hard to find someone who can get your cut and color just right! When i called i was recomended to Kate for my color. She did a great job giving me some style with my color! During our consultation she introduced me to Hans. He suggested some things to me to give my hair the style i have always wanted! I recomended my girlfriend to both of them also! Her color hasnt looked better and she said she was always afraid to cut her hair short, but Hans showed her what would look great with her face shape and still be easy to style! I went to this salon a couple of times for a layered cut and each time I saw a different stylist. Unfortunately, I was disappointed both times. Pros: Salon environment is nice. Location is good. Cons: Stylists need to be trained properly. more

I've been a super-duper long term client of this salon. I was having having hair cuts and colors with some of the staff before Dan broke from the salon he managed and opened MarcDaniel. I tell everyone I know to go to this salon.. I am ALWAYS complimented on how great of a haircut I have, and the color is the best I've had. They aren't pushy about you buying products but are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about what you should use when you do need to purchase some. I recently choose to switch salons for many reasons one was the fact that my previous stylist just did the same old thing every time and never any new ideas. A friend of mine had gone and seen Bella at Marcdaniel Salon and was just amazed at what she had to say and teach. Everything from her face shape to teaching her and showing her down to the T how to achieve that same great look at home! SO I gave it a whirl, made my appointment online (so easy I can even do it :)!) Got an amazing new style and look on what a hair cut should be about! I wouldn't trade my experience for the world! I went into MarcDaniel Salon a few weeks back for my color and it has never looked better! My colorist really listened to what i liked and didnt like then suggested some things that would complement my skin color and face with no forcing tone. The one thing that kind of shocked me was you have to pay for a blow-dry and style with a stylist if you want one(the first one is complementary) but she explained to me that their prices are cheaper for color so it averages out to be the same price as another salon. When i was done i got the blow-dry with one of their training stylist. He was explaining a haircut that might look good on me and explaining some simpler ways i can style my hair and have a salon look that i can do myself, and thats hard to do with curly hair! Neither of them were forceful on selling products but told me just a couple things that would work well on my hair. I am really defiantly going back to the training stylist when he is out of training in September. They also have 2 more in training in styling and one in color and their prices are very reasonable. I originally came to Marcdaniel Salon expecting the same old services, but I left feeling like a million bucks. Marcdaniel was the first salon I had ever visited where the color techs and stylists understood my needs and didn't let me leave until both they and I were satisfied with the end result. Even if you could get as excellent of color and style anywhere else (which you couldn't!), you would never be able to match the quality of service the stylists put forth. I highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for an enjoyable experience, fair price, and amazing hair. more

Well good news for all of us, because MarcDaniel Salon in Maple Grove is our answer! This is the first place I actually felt that the stylists met my needs and wants as a client. My haircuts always look trendy and sophisticated, and when my hair is colored, I feel like I should be on the runway! The stylists and technicians are down to earth and friendly as ever-always willing to try something new and are never too pushy with products or unwanted services. Wow! Finally a salon in Mpls. that rivals anything in NY. It was a great experience to have multiple team members work with me to achieve exactly what I was looking for. From there on-line booking system to there specialized services, everything was a 10! I also love the fact that all of there service pricing is ala-cart, so if you don't want a blowdry with your color service your not automatically charged for it. Now why don't all salons operate that way? And about there pricing, don't tell them, but compared to other salons offering the same high standards-MarcDaniel Salon is a bargain, but lets just keep that our secret. As a very picky hair critic, I have to say that Hannah is an excellent stylist. Her cuts are superb! Whether your hair is straight or curly, she will make it look FANTASTIC. I am very satisfied with the colorist and stylist that I see at MarcDaniel. The one problem I have is that you are either forced to pay $15 for a stylist to dry your hair with a hand held dryer or sit under a ""helmet"" hair dryer that takes forever and makes your hair look flat and dull. If this was remedied with the use of hand held dryers to be used by the customer I would return. I can go 2 doors down and get all the pampering I need. more

This salon is beautiful! They really listen to you & have never had a problem with a cut or color I didn't like. Only problem is the price, it's so expensive! From the minute I walked in until the moment I left the salon I was treated like a VIP. The salon is gorgeous and the staff was great. They met with me to make sure that I would walk out looking my best, and I did. They definately know their stuff!! I usually jump from salon to salon, but not anymore...they are the best by far.
