Awesome food and atmosphere 6/23/2006

My friends dragged me here and now I will go back on my own. The food is a great Pros: menu choices, portion sizes, ambiance more

A plus experience 6/23/2006

We haven't had service this good in years and years. Very accomodating on the phone with Pros: wine prices, food quality, service Cons: parking more

Misleading menu descriptions for tiny portions. 5/25/2006

Veal tenderloin w/potato gratinee means 1 thin slice of potato under the filet. The waiter quickly brought salt when it was requested, but it should be on the tables. 3 people, 3 courses each - good but not sufficiently spectacular to warant the prices. At $7 each, I want my appetizer scallops to be sand-free. Diced artichokes in sauce w/scallops wasn't mentioned on menu, & artichokes are notoriously hard on any wine. Meant we couldn't finish up the champagne with the appetizers. Pros: Nice decor & look, Pleasant hostess, Comfortable chairs Cons: Very noisy, Timing is off, only 1 unisex loo more

Mantra is cool, hip and ecclectic 4/22/2006

As you walk in you are vowed by the beautiful Newyork Look hip bar & beautiful Daru lounge. After having couple of drinks at the bar we were escorted to our table that was located right next to a beautiful fountain. What followed was some the most interesting and tasty food that I have ever had. They serve california/French food with Indian influence. Every thing that we had was beautifully presented. I found out that the chef used to work at French Laundry and Ritz Carlton Hotels. No wonder the food tasted so good. I can't wait to go back . And by the way they have a great wine list. Pros: Great Food, cool vibe, modrate pricing more

Well-executed Californian with Indian flavor 4/16/2006

Unlike so many PA restaurants, the food is just as good as the decor. It's a stylish restaurant more like you'd expect in SF, perfect for nice dates or special occasions. We had the foie gras appetizer (seared perfectly), veal tenderloin (best I've ever had) and sea bass (even better than the tenderloin). Decor and ambiance very beautiful (the pics don't do it justice), and the service was flawless as well. Plenty of menu choices to suit those who aren't big Indian cuisine fans. Highly recommended for foodies. Pros: Service, Ambiance Cons: downtown PA, parking more

Great place 4/6/2006

Great food, and vibe here. Took a client to this place recently, and had a great evening. The staff is very friendly, and the restaurant's decor defintitely impresses. The bartender in the lounge knew how to make a good cocktail, and the atmospehere was pleasant. I loved my main course (the sake baked sea bass), make sure you order it. You won't be dissapointed. A great addition to Palo Alto indeed. more

good times 4/4/2006

definately a different vibe and atmosphere when compared to other restaurants and bars in the area. there is no reason to drive to SF or NY for that matter for this quality of restaurant. i would highly recommend the wild stripe bass on potato croquette, it was a delight. i look forward to going there again. more

Cool vibe and great food 4/1/2006

Made for a great rainy night dinner with the four of us. Definately start out in the HUGE lounge that plays cool world beat music. 20 or so wines by the glass including some unique ones. Friendly bartenders. I guess we rubbed elbows with the ""in crowd"" of hight tech because someone said the founders of Google were there. Overall great wine list with decent prices although the server stumbled on some of our choices. The food--tuna steak over grapes and banananas, scallops with lemon grass, the best shortribs any of us have had and some cool veggie choices. We loved the food and vibe. Some of the most unique food we have had. Pros: hip, ambiance, food more

Great New Addition to the Palo Alto dining scene 3/31/2006

Great ambience, good wine list, very good food with excellent presentation. Very good bar/lounge with a good small plate selection. I took customers for a dinner and was very pleased with the food, the service and the personalized attention. They know their menu and wine list well. For example, the host made two excellent reasonably priced wine recommendations, as well as good choices for entrees. more

Sheek - SF or NYC feel 3/23/2006

The lounge feel is perfect and is a great place to meet people. After walking around Palo Alto to meet with friends I found this place, nothing else can compare. Dinner tables are seperate from the bar area and has an elegant romantic feel to it. Very attentive to details. more
