Manhattan Textiles is more than ""a cut above the rest"". I lived in Brookfield and Elm Grove for 35 years and have yet to find any shop that can come near to keeping up with the selection and service of Manhattan Textiles in Wauwatosa. When we moved to North Carolina, I bought the fabric for my dining room draperies (which are stunning), dining room chairs, living room chairs and decorator pillows from Manhattan Textiles.\r and they made it effortless to do. They helped me choose paint for the dining room and foyer and living room, all painless. I taught clothing and decorating at a high school in the area and was and still am very impressed with their selection, quality and service. I stopped in the other day when I was in town and chose curtain material which I am very happy with, easily. I need more for another window, so they are sending it to me, no problem. \r \r A Very Happy Customer in Chapel Hill, N.C. more

They have been extremely helpful, and have offered very worthwhile suggestions (while keeping costs in check). Highly Recommend. more

I have been shopping at Manhattan Textiles for over 15 years and this is above and beyond the best store in Wisconsin for amazing, unique, funky fabrics, rugs, tassels, trims, you name it. The customer service I have received over the years has been outstanding, always willing to cut large swatches, offer friendly advice, and even offer the option of in home service assesment visits. My visiting friends from other states have admired all the window treatments so much that it has gotten to the point where I had to go in and get swatches for them mailed out for home projects. Luckily the addition of the website has solved that issue, it is very user friendly!! I also think its important to support a family owned local business who definitely take pride in making the shopping experince fabulous! more

Best fabric in WI 12/8/2010

Everytime I walk into this store its like walking into a Neiman Marcus, its one of those "eye candy" stores that can literally lift your spirits even if you are just trying to get the motivation to start a new project. The service has always been very customer focused as opposed to a chain store where this a literally no service and just a person at a cash register. I appreciate that its always a friendly greeting, and help if I need it, not a pressure sale as are most boutique stores these days. I highly recommend this store to anyone who wants their home to have the feel of eclectic fabulosity and extra flair!!!! more

Great design, great servcie 11/16/2010

I have used Manhattan Textiles for multiple projects in my home including draperies, blinds, rugs, upholstery/reupholstery, and for accessories. I received excellent customer service for all parts of my projects from planning to ordering and installation. The designer staff are able to guide me and advise decisions, without making me feel pressured. It truly does make a difference in the final outcome of a project when you work with professionals. The work speaks for itself--you will be welcomed into the store by a flat screen with images of some of the beautiful work done by these talented designers. Quality and selection can not be beat anywhere else in the city. Prices are reasonable and deals on beautiful fabrics can be found in the great back room area. Rather than shop at one of the "shopping mall" stores that carry furniture or draperies, check out Manhattan Textiles. more

Expert design, great service 11/16/2010

I have been shopping at Manhattan Textiles for years. The fabrics, rugs, accessories and trims offered there can not be found anywhere else in this area. They are displayed beautifully! I have always found the staff to be professional, kind and helpful. The staff has assisted me in designing window treatments for every room in my home. I am always complimented on them and give all the credit to the fabulous designers at Manhattan Textiles! Installations provided by Manhattan Textiles are perfect. I have been assisted by the designers in choosing fabric to reupholster several antique family heirlooms, and have had the upholstery service performed by the store as well. These items are truly show pieces. I would strongly recommend the fabric, the design service and the installation. We are lucky to have this great business in our community. more

Great fabric store 10/23/2010

Their fabrics are beautiful and unique, and I've never found the staff to be rude or condescending. Their 'back room' deals are phenomenal, and I always find something that is one of a kind, and of very high quality. If you want ordinary, go to the big box stores, but shop here to find only the best. I think some of the negative posts are from people who don't know the real value of high quality fabrics. Try shopping in New York! more

Terrible service 10/2/2010

I went in today with my husband and son hoping to find some fabric to reupholster a chair. The two women working in there were incredibly rude. I ended up not being able to decide between fabrics, asked for swatches, and the lady came huffing along, seemingly annoyed to be bothered. She basically threw each of the 3 swatches at me after cutting them. I couldn't believe their attitudes toward a potential CUSTOMER. My husband I decided that even though we really liked the swatches, we would not be giving our business to rude people. Off to Joann we went, where the staff is always friendly. more

Another Great Experience 9/27/2010

Wow! I am stunned to read these negative reviews. I have used Manhattan Textiles several times over the years, and have always had a great experience! I guess it can seem a little pricey if you are used to shopping at places like JoAnns or Calico - but come on...you go to Manhattan to find something truly beautiful and unique. I've even scored a few really great deals with remnants for smaller projects! Plus, I really like that they don't pounce on you the minute you walk through the door. I like to go in and browse until something catches my eye. (So many pretty things!) Hard to do that at other shops, when you are fending off the staff. For the people complaining about a 20% restocking fee...that has never been my experience. Was it a special order? Then, that might make sense. more

5 star treatment 9/21/2010

This was the best fabric store I have ever visited. I was greeted by a smiling friendly clerk. All of the fabric was so beautiful, it was difficult to select. Thankfully the clerk was an interior designer with up to date fashion sense. She was extremely helpful on assisting me with a perfect selection for my window. Definitely go to Manhattan Textiles; great fabrics; great workmanship; helpful staff. more

I am always so excited to visit Manhattan Textiles. The staff is friendly and always gives me wonderful design advice for my home. If you want great designer fabrics for the home this place is a must. As soon as I walked into Manhattan Textiles I was greeted with smile and the staff was so inspirational and excited to help me with my project. Best fabric store ever. more

Hip, current goods with a young, friendly staff that really knows fine fabric and fashion. We heard about this store from friends in Lake Forest. It was definately worth the trip. The flat screen video of past design projects just took our breath away...as well as the video of extreme makeover of which they partnered. We are anxious to send our friends to Manhattan Textiles. more

Fab fabrics, poor customer service 4/30/2008

Unfortunately, the Manhattan Textiles website is of poor quality, leaving those who visit to wonder what they truly have to offer. My own experience is that they have more to offer than anyone else in the area - high quality textiles to fit every taste, be it traditional or modern. Their displays are well done, with an explosion of color when you first walk into their store. They also have plenty of eye catching children's textiles, in bright colors and clever patterns. I would recommend them for high quality textiles not high quality customer service. Their customer service, or lack thereof, is the only area in which I have reservation. The sales clerks/co-owners are rather unhelpful and snobbish, which can certainly turn your shopping experience into an unpleasant one. more
