Good food, but overrun with students. 5/20/2006

Mamouns is fast, cheap and really yummy. It is also overrun with NYU students to the point that it will make you feel really old even if you only graduated last year (add another decade and it's absolutely terrifying). But if you're in the neighborhood, need some quick nourishment and don't know where to go, I highly recommend it. Don't expect good service though, it's too busy for that as a rule. more

Make Mamoun's a part of your life 3/30/2006

Mamoun's was there to feed me and comfort me throughout my freshman year of college, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. It's a tiny little place in the heart of the Village, on Macdougal Street, but there are often long lines out the door of NYC'ers craving some of that nice and tasty $2 falafel. Mamoun's is open almost, but not quite, 24 hours/day, and you'd be surprised how good falafel tastes at 3 AM after a night out bar-hopping in the village, clubbing downtown, or simply writing a paper for class. Oh Mamouns, how I love you! more

Falafal lovers of the world unite 12/22/2005

One of the greates falafal place in the village. This small and so easy to miss restaurant (more like hole in the wall) has an mazing selection of falafals, schwarma and kababs. They located right next to the nightclubs of the village so they are open late usually till 3 in the morning. there is not much place to sit in here so be ready to eat it on the go. more

Excellent Fallafel, Great Prices 9/23/2005

This is a fast, cheap place that clearly hasn't changed since 1974 or whenever they got their menu. That said, the fallafel's are as good as you'll find anywhere in the city and I can pretty much guarantee that you won't find one for cheaper - $2. It's the staple for the area - and deservedly so. The line also gets pretty long as the evening wears on. more

A delightful little place 8/15/2005

Mamoun's Falafel is a wonderful place in the downtown area of Manhattan. Located in the trendy mcdougal st area, known for it's many eateries, entertainment and night life, Mamoun's falafel offers cheap and delicious middle eastern food on a stringent budget. The small, somewhat cramp, restaurant offers falafel sandwiches for two dollars, with out charging tax, in a grilled pita bread with freshly made falafel balls and hot tahini sauce. It has by far some of the best falafel sandwiches ever tasted. more

NYU landmark is totally worth it 6/22/2005

The $2 falafal helped get me through college. It's delicious, and the fact that they're open until around 3AM helps. Mamoun's is a tiny little closet of a restaurant that always has a line out the door, but the line goes quickly. The falafal is the favorite here, but I've heard good things about the schwarma as well. more
