Mamma Nems

I took my mom to Mamma Dems for Mother's Day and now I feel bad. I wanted to show my mother that I appreciated her but instead I punished her. I want to start out by saying I enjoy good food and i know good food and this establishment doesn't know good food. I ordered the smoothered chicken and instead i got grilled chicken with gravy on top. The mac & cheese tasted like mush with a very little cheese and the corn bread was so hard. My mother had the fried chicken and she said it had no flavor., maybe they weren't ready for the crowd but they have been open for some time now. I think mamma nem need to go back to the drawing board because this food it not good ole' home cooking. I read some of the reviews and I was expecting a upscale restaurant and this is certainly not the case. The restaurant was so hot and dark. I was not impressed at all. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone DON'T BE FOOLED because I certainly was. It's located in a old pizza hut for pete sake why didn't someone say that???? Upscale How? more

I visited on Mother's Day 09 and I was very disappointed. I arrived at my reservation time and I was greeted by the host who informed me that they had to set up and to not get mad and have an attitude. I dismissed this statement because I considered the area even though this statement was very unprofessional. My family and I was seated and ordered our entree's from the limited menu. When our food arrived in segments the food did not have any flavor at all. The cornbread was very dry and disgusting. It was very hot and dark in the restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I thought I was taking my mother to an upscale dining experience however I got low budge bad tasting food. I guess if you are accustomed to good down home southern cooking then this is definately not the place for you because me and my family did not enjoy this dining experience.. Mama Nem need to go back and try it again. Sorry, I trying to support black owned establishments but this one does not have my vote. more

I took my wife on Valentine's Day, we were explained that a special Valentine's Day menu would be presented. The food was good and we had great service. We primarily want to go to a place that had live music. We were not expecting this type of vibe on Memorial Drive, we were very pleased. We decided to return for Sunday dinner since the menu was geared for couples, all I can say is... Oh my God! Great food... the best soul food I've had at a restaurant in a while. Try is out for yourself, I'm sure you'll have a good time. This type of restaurant needs support of the community. Pros: Clean, intimate and great food more

I took my wife here for a Valentines Day dinner. I arrived at 5:45 for a 6:00 reservation only to find the doors locked as a young lady standing outside informed me that they were still trying to get ""prepared"". When we were allowed to enter we still had to wait for a tablecloth and candles to be placed before we could be seated. We were presented with a special Valentines Day menu which offered a four course meal. After the small salad and even smaller appetizer we decided to try the stuffed chicken breast with yams, collards, and mac and cheese.Imagine my surprise when I received a plate with a dry chicken breast without any stuffing and to top it off the yams were also missing in action. Normally at this point I am in the "" I need to speak with the manager mode"", but I am determined to not allow anything to disrupt our evening so I keep cool and try to enjoy the soulful sounds of the young couple that was providing the entertainment. Last but definitely not least was the attempt to order a dessert. My wife chose the peach cobbler and I wanted the banana cheesecake but was disappointed although not surprised that "" the cheesecake was not done yet"". The bottom line is that if I am going to pay five star prices then I expect five star service. I believe in supporting our people but only if they believe in providing good quality service. i give them 5 stars because to get this type of service on memorial dr. was amazing also the food presentation blowed me away ,my fav was the turnip green dip and the chefs grill in which i tried because of their write up in the AJC. Great place for date or family function u will love the ambiance very cozy oh yea i love the fact that the owners r so personel they helped the whole time we were there and even brought our desserts to us and introduced themselves this is one spot that needs to be kept around since our choices for this area are so limited if ur going to the mountain great place to eat its at the west gate entrance.
