mama dips on rosemary st. has great southern food and very good service. They have such great sides (mashed potatos, ocra, corn, peas, etc.) that sometimes i just want to get sides. And guess what?! You can do that by getting their veggie plate (6 sides). you can also sit outside so that's nice during these spring days. more

Pretty good southern cooking 4/15/2006

Alright, I am a vegetarian. So normally, these types of places don't really appeal to me. However, I really like Mama Dip's cooking - althought my wallet doesn't agree so much. It is a little overpriced, but if you're really dying for some good Southern cooking, I would definitely look into it. They have great fried okra, and other vegetarian side dishes. Not to mention, the desserts are awesome. Occasionally, if you're lucky you might catch a glimpse of Mama Dip herself, greeting customers. more

overrated and overpriced 3/28/2006

Mama Dip's is clearly coasting on its name at this point, and it shows in the quality of their food. I just don't think it's all that it's hyped up to be. Compared to places that offer similar food, often at lower prices, the portions are quite small at Mama Dip's. Not recommended. more

Good Country Cooking 2/6/2006

Mama Dips Restaurant offers good home country cooking suited to harden your arteries. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you don't have time to eat-in, the restaurant also offers a take-out menu and picnic baskets to go. For the health conscious, the restaurant does offer vegetable platters and other healthy fare. more

Just like Grandma used to make 9/1/2005

I go to Mama Dip's when I want food like my Grandma used to make. Fried chicken, okra and tomatoes, sweet potato biscuits, etc. The staff there is very friendly. They're mostly Mama Dip's family--even though the place is extremely popular, it's still family run, which I love. If you can sit on the porch, do so. It's such a great feeling to have good ol' southern food on a wide front porch. more

The Real Thing 8/31/2005

You can't get more authentic than the good ol' fashioned southern cuisine offered by Mama Dip and her country kitchen. Whether you're there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you'll have your choice of some of the best down-home country cooking to be found in the Triangle. If you're lucky, Mama Dip herself might come sit at your table for a spell. Make sure and try the fried green tomatoes, and the biscuits are divine! more

Fun place 7/31/2005

Mama Dip's is a great place to take non-southerner visitors. The homestyle cooking and atmosphere is fun. The food is great for both breakfast and dinner. Reasonable prices. Sit outside if you can...it adds to the atmosphere! more

Good food 7/31/2005

This is a very popular local restaurant. The food is southern/homestyle. We've gone for breakfast and dinner. I recommend the breakfast menu. It's large and yummy. I had the chicken and dumplings when we went there for dinner...they were great. Try getting a table on the porch if it's nice out...it adds to the atmosphere. more
