I was extremelly disappointed with this restaurant; especially after hearing so many rave reviews about the place. The ambience is great and I could possibly go back again, but...

Num Num. I Love Thai 6/18/2010

Malee's recipes are top notch. I have been a fan of theirs for years. I can't remember their soup's name, but if you go there. Ask them for the soup with the coconut milk. It will make you salivate just thinking about it. They have another location by desert ridge too. Pros: great thai more

We Like It ... A Lot 7/17/2009

My wife and I eat there regularly, we especially like the green peppercorn seafood dish and pineapple curry. Wings are spicy and our favorite appetizer. It's VERY good, what we call Thai home cooking (meaning unpretentious), and a decent value for Scottsdale. Spotty as a venue for intimate seating for two, but both indoors and the patio area are nice, as is the ambient piano music on certain nights. Service generally on the dot. Pros: Great Thai, easy parking, on the old town art walk Cons: No lunch menu on weekends more

Great Food but Beware of your credit card number! 4/13/2009

I never have had a bad meal here and I miss their location in Desert Ridge. I would give it 5 stars however because I was making a reservation for a group of 15 people, I was required to leave my credit card number. I then found out that my card was compromised and used locally. When I called the restaurant, I found out they just write the card number in their reservation book which is out for the entire staff to see or anyone walking by the hostess stand. When I asked if I was going to be compensated for this, I was given $13 off a $200 bill (that was after the discount and the free meal we had with a card that came in the mail). I felt that for all the trouble I have to go through canceling my card, etc. that I should have been compensated for more then $13. So if you have to give them a credit card to hold your table, make up a number! Pros: Great Food - Great Prices! Cons: Beware of your credit card number! more

Best Thai food in the Valley! 10/19/2008

I LOVE this place. I go there at least once a month and think their food is delicious. Service is great and the ambiance is very intimate and welcoming. I usually order the Thai basil chicken (from the lunch menu) over angel hair pasta. The sauce is rich and it is seriously addictive. I've also had a lot of items from their menu and haven't been disappointed by anything. High quality meats and spiced just right. Every friend I've taken there has gone back on their own! I read some of the other reviews for the restaurant and I think it is authentic and better than any other thai restaurant around here. This would be a good date place and is also unpretentious. On the weekends they often have a pianist there which is very cozy and nice. You won't be disappointed by Maylee's! Pros: Tasty and delicious, good ambiance, great service more

Best Thai Food (Gringo's style) of course 7/27/2007

Went there on Sat night, no reservation though, but got seated right away. The hostess was very nice and accomadating. Server, litlle blond lady, very down to earth, very knowledgeable about thai food as she were from Thailand. Mango magarita and papaya mango salad (very creative) were delicious. Pad thai was nice, shrimp was little over cooked but over all flavor was definitely wonderful. Coco chili fish, recommendation of our server was out of this world. I have never seen this dish in any other Thai Restaurant before and I do eat Thai food all over the world including Thailand. Coco chili fish, oh, how I am still thinking about you!!! To end the meal, we ordered sweet black sticky rice, what's a twist from an old white sticky rice, served with green custard, was also wonderful . Over all , Malee's still got it after I don't know how they have been here. Pros: creative menu/ unpretencious service Cons: men's room need atttention more

Not Authentic but Delicious 7/10/2007

I agree that this restaurant is not authentic but the quality of the food and cooking style makes up for it's lack of authenticity. This is a far better restaurant than Swaddee and the Pink Pepper. Unlike those restaurants, Malee's food has flavor. I would best describe this restaurant as a west coast fusion Thai. The chef is extremely talented and created. The drawbacks to Malee's is the price and sometimes stuffy service from the 30 thousdand dollar millionaire fake Scottdale waitresses who feel they are too good to be a waitress. Pros: Food, Ambience Cons: Price, Service more

Nice, but pad thai needs a boost 5/8/2007

Only tried the pad thai dish, the sauce was tasty and was not as spicy as expected. Loved the red garnish (red beet?) on the dish. However, the dish could have benefited from more color and depth of flavor. Whole peanuts and cilantro/other herb could have boosted this dish because the pad thai got a little boring towards the end. Shrimp were large, but a little overcooked/dry for my liking. Both shrimp and chicken in this dish could have been juicier. The server/possibly owner? was very nice. Drinks were filled promptly. Loved that Malee's seemed to lack the usual pretentiousness of Scottsdale. Overall feeling of restaurant was cozy and clean. Pros: nice server, good ambiance, outdoor seating looks great/clean Cons: pad thai lacked depth of flavor, overcooked shrimp more

The place for Thai 10/2/2006

Looking for great Thai food, this is the place. Great location, great service, cozy atmosphere. The crispy thai chicken is great. Lunch or dinner, this is a great option if you are looking for spicy asian. Pros: location, food, service Cons: restrooms need to be updated more

Best Sushi 10/2/2006

This place is awesome!!!! I couldn't have asked for more, friendly staff and the food was great. I will go back. more

A smoke free Scottsdale Institution. 7/22/2006

Get reservations and go. Trust the wonderful wait staff with recommendations but be careful with spice level. I wouldn't go higher than medium spice unless you have an ice cream chaser. You are guaranteed a wonderful dining experience. Pros: Wonderful food and service. Cons: Can be a little warm in summer and not for the late night diners. more

Harumph! 5/12/2005

Well, I've been here before but last Sunday was a terrible experience. The wait was unbearable. The waiter forgot our drinks, if you can believe that, and the food took FOREVER! Once we got it, it was delicious, and we were satiated but then the wait for the check almost put me over the edge! The waiter compensated, which was GREATLY appreciated, so overall, it was a very mixed experience. That said, we will return. Pros: cool rooms Cons: slow staff more

Not authentic at all! 2/17/2005

I was extremelly disappointed with this restaurant; especially after hearing so many rave reviews about the place. The ambience is great and I could possibly go back again, but definately for the drinks and sushi, and not the thai food. Pros: ambience more

Scottsdale meets Bangkok 9/27/2004

I've heard much about this restaurant prior to visiting it. I've been to more than 100 Thai restaurants in the US, and so I we expecting traditional Thai decor, something to prepare my senses for the dining experience. At Malee's, however, the decor and the wait staff atire are traditional Scottsdale-ish, although the aromas are definately Thai. At first, this lead to sensory confusion, but when the food arrived, I knew exactly where I was. I like my Thai food ""Authentic"" (that's two notches above hot), and the curry was smooth and was not overpowered by the spiciness. Pros: Scottsdale-ish decor more

Best Thai On Town 11/8/2002

An exciting and fabulous restaurant. The menu is first class with tons of variety, and the waiters are as knowledgeable and friendly as it gets. They will gladly point you in the right direction for your taste in food. Don't wuss out on the HOT curry scale. Go for it...the taste and flavoring will never be drowned out by the spice meter at this place. It's the best in town, AND you can show up on a Friday or Saturday night and be seated with out a reservation. And the prices are reasonable. I can't say enough about this place. ENJOY! Pros: food, ambience, wait staff Cons: parking more

Magical Malee's 8/19/2002

Walk in to Malee's and you are graciously greeted. The warm atomosphere and friendly staff only compliment your dining experience and are second to the traditional and innovative menu. When you complete your meal you will truly know the Thai dining experience. With my belly full and a smile on my face I was ready to come back to Malee's for seconds the next evening. more
