Editorial review from Citysearch 11/17/2016

Great vets...the Adams...father and son! I have been going to them for 25 years plus. First with a German Shepard, Misty, until we had to put her down and then later with two Shih Tzus, Oscar and Lady, until Oscar had to be put down. I am now down to one Shih Tzu. Dr. Adams, both father and son, are gentle, kind and do not charge an arm and a leg for wonderful service to my little ""Lady."" I would highly recommend them. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/28/2012

Have been going here for years. Love them. They care for all types of animals. Yea, don't have to shop around for a exotic. I had a dog that collapsed and died, went there, they were closed, they opened the doors for me to help, I did not take a wallet with me, and they still helped. I did pay when I got home. But how many places will do that? The care and understanding they have is wonderful. Their place is not so fancy, but they don't have to charge patients for that overhead. And care is more important than looks any day. more

Best Vet I Have Found on the Northside of Chicago 5/27/2011

This facility places a much greater emphasis on quality of care than on PR and glitz. Both vets seem caring and highly competent. They don't try to pump your ego by fawning all over your wondrously charming pet but treat the pet with great respect and affection and real skill. They don't try to push you into paying for unnecessary care like most of their competition and will even in many cases suggest ways to economize. The waiting room and examination area are more than adequately cleaned and maintained. The prices are generally lower than anywhere else since you are not paying for bling but for competence. more

Great Great Vets all around 10/16/2010

I have been to many vest over the years for my various cats. Without a doubt Milaknis is the best one for all around value. Many of the other vets I've tried have gotten ridiculously expensive..and the care in many cases is not as good or knowledgable as the Adams (father/son) at Milaknis.. In addition many other vets at newer hospitals often are green/inexperienced and there is a feeling of being rushed when with the vet. Not so at Milaknis. But one of the major reasons I've gone back to MIlaknis (I moved away for some time) is the reasonable prices on lab work and procedures and visits they provide. In many cases their lab work (sometimes done at exact same lab as higher end /more expensise vests) is a little more than half what the higher end (price wise) vest charge. Without a doubt the best value in animal care i have experienced is a Milaknis. But if you are going for fancy decor and artwork on walls of waiting room...this is not your place. more

CARE TAKES PRECEDENT OVER LOOKS 5/22/2009

My experience with my two cats care is that the vets are honest, hardworking, and up-to-date on high quality of care treatments and equipment. I have never perceived any risk to my pets. Pros: Vets Listen Closely, Speak Plainly, Costs Upfront more

Excellent Care! 4/26/2009

I have two large breed dogs that have been patients of Dr. Adams and son for years. This is a small, family operated vet clinic that has evening hours 4 days a week, open on Saturday and will even see you on Sunday provided you have an appointment. The only time I ever had to schedule an appointment was when one of my dogs needed surgery, other than that, I have always been able to walk right in, wait no more than 15 minutes if that, then walk right out. Not to mention that given the location, I have NEVER had to search for parking as there is always a space available on the street right in front. On top of all the many wonderful things that I have said and could continue to say about Dr. Adams and Dr. Adams, they charge far less for their services than any other vet that I know of in the city, that is how I found them, I am a comaprison shopper. Office visits, vaccinations and so on cost considerably less here. Also, at times, I believe that I was cut a break here and there for being such a loyal customer. Trust me, having two large dogs, I will gladly take whatever discount he or his son is offering! Great place, great service, great value! Pros: Uncrowded, Competent Staff, Evening and Weekend Hours Cons: None more

On the other hand..... 1/11/2009

I read the one and only review of this vet and I have to stand up for them. Sure the place is a bit tacky looking and yes the animals relieve themselves inside. But only in the sitting area and everyone knows it and they do clean it up often. The plusses with this business are that you can walk in with your pet at any time during their office hours for service, and often find someone available by phone otherwise. This is a father-son vet team and they are very down to earth and know my dog really well. I feel very comfortable with them. And, their fees are very reasonable. All in all, I feel like they are kind of a 'best kept secret.' Pros: High availability, good 'bedside manner', familiarity with animal, good results Cons: appearance of clinic, casual if you need more structure more
