Maimonides Medical Ctr

Let me start with...I will not recommend this hospital to no one...EVER!!! I took my wife to the emergency when she was pregnant (5 weeks). They took our personal and insurance information very quickly, but that is the only thing that was done fast and efficient! We spent the whole night there and had to go through nurses training on my wife, taking blood...etc. Poking her veins many times without success, until I said something about it! We left more puzzled then when we went in. We didn't know if the baby was safe or if we lost it. Anyways, we scheduled an appointment to go and have a visit at the Labor and Delivery department (not the ER [you'll see later why I mention this] ) and have them check her with the big sonogram. This was two days after we were in the ER. We had to give them the info again and register at the desk and spend another whole day of waiting, witnessing pregnant women that couldn't find their doctors since it was some kind of holiday, and students exercising again on my wife as if she was a medical dummy (there were only one or two doctors available in the whole hospital!). We still didn't get a definite answer again since the big sonogram was closed that day because of the holiday! After we set up another appointment the next day (again not on the ER) we finally got the bad news that we lost our baby, again after spending the whole day waiting there... This doctor (the only one in the whole hospital, on a Saturday) was kind enough to calm my wife down by letting her know that we are young and we can try again. That was the only good thing of my whole experience... The next thing is receiving the bills!!!!!! The three bills I received were for ER visits, when in fact I was only once on the ER! After calling many many many many many many times, they wouldn't admit that they are wrong and they put me on a collection agency! I had to pay the bills since even my insurance company wasn't doing anything about it, as if they didn't care. This was a pure case of hospital fraud and God knows to how many people they do the same... DON'T GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT! more

I had the opposite experience with Mrs. Lila Shams Rn She is a great nurse she made the whole experience at Mamio great. She was very caring She was there for me all the way. She was the only one who came and cleaned me and offered me the bedpan where some nurses were too proud to do it She is a hard worker she went out of her to be there for me and put a smile on my face daily I wonder if there are two Lila Shams working there because my Lila was great more

I couldnt agree more with the other person, some of the nurses are heaven sent and wonderful...others are just HORRIBLE!! There's one in particular, Lila Shams- steer clear of this nurse, shes the nastiest, most arrogant person I think I've ever come across in my life!! Shes in the wrong field, to be helping people is not her strong point! more

This is my first time ever rating anything on line, and I am not enjoying the experience. I have a dear friend of mine who had open heart surgery, this took place at Maimonides Medical Center/Maimonides Hospital, I honestly think the doctors saved her life. However the heart breaking thing was after the surgery, when the nurses and other technicians had to do their jobs. Some of the nurses are like heaven sent, caring, kind and loving, unfortunately this was the minority. Most of these people have no compassion for a persons fear, nor any understanding that it takes more than medical care to get a patient well. They are nasty, uncaring, and at times seems spiteful. They show no concern, or have no understanding of their patients fear, or mental frailty. They rule their little domain like some small minded dictators. I urge you if you have love ones in this hospital, try to stay with them over night, that's when these vampires come out, when their is no family members or love ones their to defend the defenseless. The hospital needs to get out the staff who are only on the job for a pay check. For a heart hospital, it's staff show very little heart.
