Maher's Irish Pub

My wife and I went on Thursday at 5.30 and It was not very busy. We selected a table inside. It took over 15 Mins for the waiter to bring us a menu, he walked past us at least 8 times and I did remind him but in the end I went to the bar and got them myself. We should have taken that as our first sign!!!! We ordered drinks which he claimed that he knew how to make but no such luck. We ordered 3 items and took one bite from each and we both feel that this has got to be the Worst Pub food that we've tased in 45 years. The people were very nice and really apologetic almost like they are used to a lot of complaints. OMG how can this place continue to serve food like this and get people to go back????? Save you money or go some place else. I just tried to post this and was told that i need to rate this but EH as a rate is way to good.... more

I had been looking forward to eating here since the place looks so great from the outside. It has nice outdoor seating with lights and a garden area and music playing. It turned out to be a HUGE disappointment. The service is terrible, and the food was awful. To top it off, it was overpriced for such small portions and low grade food. I had to ask for menus, after sitting there for ten minutes. It took thirty minutes to get a Guinness, and I had to find a server and ask to order, for the check, etc. The place had a snobby atmosphere, I will never go back. more

The atmosphere of this place is great. This is the type of neighborhood place to grab a drink that LO has been waiting for. Unfortunately, the food ruins it. They are charging far too much for food that is way below par. My wife and I are huge fish and chips fans, so naturally that is what we ordered when we attended to grand opening of the new location. When you order fish and chips at most places, the portions are usually too much for one person. Given this, we usually will split a plate. Charging $16 for one order, we figured Maher's would be a similar situation. Just to be safe, we asked the waitress if the order was big enough to split - she confirmed that it was. What was served to us was a plate full of thick, soggy fries (the type you would get out of the frozen section at Safeway) and 3 very small pieces of fish. Not only did I come away still hungry, but I felt like I had been ripped off. My wife went back a few nights ago with some friends and was they were equally unimpressed with the food. To be fair, I like the surroundings enough that I will go back. I will just be sure to eat ahead of time so that I can enjoy the two things that are great about this place: the beer and atmosphere. . more

This a great place to get together with friends, even if you show up alone! The folks here are friendly and the faces become familiar. Between the music, dancers, and sports there always seems to be something going on. I can't wait for the new space, even more good times ahead. more
