This was the first experience w/ Magruder Eye Institute for my husband and me. The office staff were cordial and efficient, and the eye tech was sweet and professional. The physician, Dr Donald Centner, spent less than 5 minutes w/ each of us, and did not introduce himself. He made no attempt at friendliness. Please keep in mind that new patients are made much more comfortable w/ a simple handshake or smile. more

This note is for mco_consulting who wrote a review about the Eyeglass Boutique in August 2007. I am the practice administrator at Magruder Eye Institute and I wanted to apologize, although rather late, for the behavior displayed by our ""former"" employee. I had a patient come in to the Kissimmee office on Friday who told me about this review. I was unaware of this until that time. Anna is no longer an employee at the Eyeglass Boutique as of June 3, 2008. We are currently interviewing for a new optician at the Kissimmee location so things are a little hectic at the present time but we will hopefully find someone soon who is professional and who has the required customer service traits necessary to take care of our patients/customers in our Kissimmee location. With the exception of one SUPER RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND INCOMPETENT employee -- ANNA in the eyeglass boutique at the Kissimmee office --- this is a generally nice, professional place to go for an eye exam. I was impressed with the doctor and he took a lot of time and care when he screened me. He recommended progressive lenses for me. However Anna ruined my experience. She screwed up my prescription order and ordered the completely wrong kind of lenses, which resulted in me having to wait a month and a half to get my glasses. After numerous delays I called the Kissimmee office to ask that my eyeglass prescription be mailed to me so that I could get glasses somewhere else. Someone at the front desk told me that was not possible; that I could only pick up my prescription when my lenses finally arrived. (Huh???) So I called Anna and politely asked if she could mail it to me. Anna flipped out and went off on me. She obviously was having a bad day and decided to take it out on me. She subjected me to a two- or three-minute long tirade during which I was unable to get a word in edgewise. Apparently she was furious because I DARED to call several times to ask that my prescription be mailed to me. At the end of her rant, she told me she had no idea what I wanted from her, so I had to repeat once again that I would like to have the prescription mailed to me. She said she would do it and then hung up on me! I am positive that there were no doctors or office managers nearby when she said these comments to me over the phone, otherwise she would have been fired. Her behavior was so shocking that I took the step to contact her manager to complain. If you go to Magruder, I recommend choosing one of the other locations. Because if you have to deal with Anna, your order is likely to get botched because she is certified bi-polar!
