Magno, Rose, Dds - Emeryville Dental Care

\r \r My mother is 80 years old and on a fixed income, and came in for a 6 month check up. I'd expect this to be in the $150 range (what my dentist would charge for exam and cleaning).\r \r She was charged $285! \r \r Here's what she got:\r \r $120 for the exam\r \r $45 to have her dentures cleaned.\r \r $120 for the teeth cleaning....but wait....she has ONE TOOTH! That's $120 to clean ONE TOOTH!\r \r When she told me this I called the office to ask for some fairness. I figure, they clean 34 teeth and charge $120, it seems fair that to clean one they should charge $4, right? Well, after a week of trying to contact them, and then being told that the Doctor (Rose Magno) had no control over the charges (?) so there was no need to discuss it with her, and basically not allowing me to talk with the person (Christine) ""IN CHARGE"" of making the billing/refund decisions, they would only allow my mother a $60 refund for the service.\r \r Bottom line is this:\r \r $225 for a cleaning for an 80 year old woman with ONE TOOTH! \r \r If you patronize this business, I highly recommend that you ask for the charges up front! \r \r \r \r \r more

To start with, Emeryville Dental Care has an 'unsatisfactory' rating with the BetterBusinessBureau. If you read reviews on-line, you'll see a pattern of over-charging, exceedingly high prices, and what seems like unnecessary recommendations for procedures. Make no mistake, this office is out for money...as much as they can get. The staff spend a great deal of time refuting claims on these online forums. If that doesn't alarm you, then you're Emeryville Dental Care's perfect sucker...err...I mean 'patient'. more

I left this office huffing and puffing. To be fair, I?m writing up a review to clear Dr Magno & her staff,& my conscience. I was pisted that they were charging me to get copies of my xrays since I was moving to another state. I recently got a copy of my itemized bill and realized that they NEVER charged me for taking xrays in the first place, so it would only be fair for them to charge me to use it at another office. I found that it is California state law that they are not suppose to release original records anyway. Also, I completely forgot that the Dentist didn?t even charge me for some fillings and some other freebee dental works that she did for me over the years that I?ve been her patient. I forgot that I?m always getting compliments on her dental work that she did on my mouth. My insurance company (Delta Dental) didn?t help either by saying I should go somewhere else. I realize now that they said that because Dr Magno does not bend to their whimps and is not owned by the insurance company. My current dentist doesn?t tell me what I need. He looks at what my insurance wants to cover and he goes from there. I see the difference in work and quality. I remember that she would recommend what she thought was best for me and I was given the option to get the best or do something for less. The Doctor seems to really enjoy her work and is very passionate about making sure I do my job of taking care of my teeth.I miss the great staff service and superior dental work I got from Emeryville Dental Care and Dr Rose Magno. I feel completely stooopish. This is my way of apologizing to her and her staff and I think she?s one of the best dentist that?s ever layed hands on my teeth. For those searching the net looking for the Best Dentist, Dr Magno is it! Her work is sooo worth it and I highly recommend her. I found a true gem. It is rare to find a dental office that have great dental work with great customer service. Not the cheapest in town (I wouldn't go there! Hey, you can pay a little more for better), but fair in price. I can say I got more than what I paid for in the best dental work I ever got! They spend alot of time explaining everything since I am so particular and picky in everything. Not just that, I don't fear going to the dentist anymore. I actually look forward to coming here. Seriously! Pros: Customer Service, Comfortable, Personalized, Expertise & Knowledgeability. Cons: None. All is great. more

I?ve never had a cavity in 8 years, but the Dentist found one! I must admit I am a dental phobic, but I must say the whole experience was PAINLESS!!! and I actually enjoyed coming here. The people were GREAT!!! They were very attentive and caring. They made sure I was comfortable and made me feel very relaxed. So I?m coming to get a regular cleaning and check up every 6 months from now on. Pros: Everything Cons: None to complain about more

I went somewhere else because I thought I could get a better deal. My mistake! I ended up paying more because the other service was crappy! they didn't know what they were doing, etc. They took my insurance alright, right to the cleaners! I came back because this office is genuine, honest, knowledgeable, dependable, and all of the fluffs in between.AGAIN, this office knows what they're doing, so I'm not going anywhere else. Work is supurb (ok.. spell check).Likeable staff. Cheerie (spell check again). Knowledgeable.Very clean office. Very personalized. They take the time to explain everything. I had Dental Dental pay for most of my dental work here after I complained to the Dept of Managed Care about Delta Dental not paying for services rendered & I talked to my boss about paying for better dental benefits. The Doctor and the staff are doing a great job of taking care of my mouth & making sure my questions& concerns are answered and resolved. Pros: Detailed. Knowledgeable. Great Dental Office more

They charge 1.8% a month on balances that are not paid right away, plus $15 fee. Also their billing statements are unclear and the staff has made many mistakes. I have also received a letter threatening legal action for my posting, but have decided to keep this posting and stand by my opinions. more
