I took my 03 Jag to have the transmission fluid and filter changer at Magic Mechanic on Lee Rd on Friday July 29th at 1pm. After picking up my car later that afternoon, I went home to change clothes before I went out. As I got out of the car I noticed lots of scratches on the passenger side front fender just behind the headlight, and leaves stuck in the bumper where it meets the fender. These scratches had not been there when I dropped off the car at Magic Mechanic. I went inside to change then drove back to the shop only to find it closed at 5:55pm. I had to wait untill Mon morning to returned to the shop as they are closed Sat and Sun and no one would answer the phone. I showed the shop manager the damage and was told that they are not liable for it. When I asked the mechanic that had worked on my car if he had hit anything while test driving it, he couldn't even look me in the eye when he said no. The manager said he would try to "buff it out" for me if I wanted to bring it back when they weren't busy. I then asked about the transmission fluid that was left in my trunk that wasn't used when they did the fluid change. He said that they don't flush out all the old fluid, they just drop the pan and refill. If I had been told that in the first place, I would have taken it elsewhere and not have a scratched up fender. The manager simple turned around and walked back inside. I have taken my previous car to this same location several times before when there was a different person managing it, and never had any problems. more

As a 20+ year customer it is nice to know there are still some companies that you can trust. Theres not many companies that you can say that about anymore. more

I took my car to Magic Mechanic because I have heard good things about them. I saw the owner Larry Perry at the front desk and he arrived for work. I attempted to say hello and how much I enjoyed his radio show. He looked right at me and then just walked away. Granite I was wearing shorts and an old shirt, it was my day off, but it gives you no right to think you are better than anyone. After he went into the back room I could hear him yelling and ranting about something someone did. You should keep those things private and not let everyone in your waiting area hear you. very unprofessional place and owner. The radio show is just face he puts on, I saw his true colors and he thinks he is above everyone. more

Listen to your radio show faithfully. Enjoy the technical knowledge you impart. Suggestion, avoid all public policy and political topics of any stripe. Stick to where your expertise lies. Imagine if a someone who was highly qualified by degree, training and practice who spent years honing their craft had a talk show about public policy matters and routinely opined about the auto repair industry on technical matters. You greatly diminish the credibility of your message when you venture into an area you are unequipped and ill informed about. There is nothing wrong with being a great auto expert. There is everything wrong with interjecting policy beliefs most of which are ill founded and uninformed. more

The Magic Mechanic conducted a complete brake job on my 2005 Odyssey mini van. About a year later, the van started to shake when my wife applied the brakes; apparently, the front rotors were warped. Larry replaced the front rotors without question. Magic Mechanic may not be the cheapest mechanic shop around, but you get what you pay for. If you want a quality repair and deal with an honest outfit, bring your car to The Magic Mechanic. more

5/14/2010: I have been a loyal customer of Magic Mechanic for four years. They are the only place I trusted to touch my car. No more. \r \r I took my car in at 7:30am on Monday morning to have them look at the burning oil smell I was still having after they had already said they repaired an oil pan leak. (I was pretty sure it was the CV boot leaking on the catalytic converter). I also was now experiencing strong vibrations when driving. They said they would be looking at my car at 12:30pm.\r \r Monday at 4pm I called and they still had not touched my car. They said there were three cars still ahead of mine. \r \r Tuesday at 3pm I called and they said their were 3 cars ahead of mine. I was rather upset that it was day 2 with still nothing done on my car and still, supposedly, 3 cars ahead of me. I wished they had told me Monday morning it would be 3 or 4 days before they would even look at my car. \r \r At 4pm I called to tell them I was going to take my car to a mechanic who has time to wo more

These guys are amazing, Our Range Rover transmission had a problem so we took it to the dealer where we got an estimate for almost $7000.00 to replace it! I remembered hearing a Automotive Radio show by these guys so we thought we would have them give us a second opinion. First off we could not get over how nice this shop looked it was nicer then some dealerships, and while they were getting our information they asked if we needed a loaner car? Stunned we asked them to explain they offered us a car to drive while they had ours, we took them up on their offer because of our work schedule. The next day we got a call from JD the manager he said he had good news, he said the transmission pressure tested OK and they could get it to shift with a tool they use, they said their wasn't anything wrong with the transmission it was the transmission module or something like that, they said the good news was we did not need a $7000.00 transmission but we did need a $1600.00 module from Range Rover more

These guys charged me $85 to remove a screw in my motorcycles master cylinder (the place where the screwdriver should have fit into the master cylinders cap was mangled and I didn't have the proper tools). The job was well done but they really stuck it to me on the price. They claim to have done me a favor because it was a motorbike which they don't ordinarily work on.\r \r WELL THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!! but favors usually feel better than that. more

I have been a listner to the Magic Mechanic for a couple of years and thought this guy (Larry Perry) is just too good to be true, so I gave it a try. The rub is I live in Melbourne and I knew I would be waiting for some time since it is first come first serve. I brought my '04 Yukon in for A/C service, steering column replacement and patch a tire. The service manager put 3 techs on the car at one time, getting the truck out in less than an hour and a half. The car feels like new again and blows cold air.
