Unremarkable Italian food 6/28/2010

Not awful but I don't understand why people rave about this place. An antipasto should have artichoke hearts, roasted peppers, anchovies, and several kinds of meat - Maggiano's has none of the above. The sausage was too salty and was given just a cursory browning before being steamed with a skimpy amount of green peppers and onions. The red sauce was basically flavorless but thankfully not sweet. The waitstaff wasn't rude but seemed kind of distracted and kept trying to take the food away before we were finished. One highlight - the veal raviolis in Alfredo sauce were pretty tasty. Pros: umm...close to the mall??? Cons: uninspired food more

NO flavor and waitstaff are clueless 10/7/2009

I was expecting, for the price, considering everything is ala carte to be at least above average. We were seated and I ordered lasagna and my sister ordered basil pasta with chicken. We ordered house salads. They are huge but mostly lettuce and the cheese that they shave on it is like wax. My sister got her pasta, and it was tasteless with the bottom of the bowl full of water. Chicken had grissle all over it. Waiter was quick to drop off food and run away. I told him I did not like the pasta, which I traded my sister for, so that she could enjoy her meal, and I ended up eating nothing but salad and bread. When I told the waiter the pasta was awful, he said so, would you like the check then? His name was Moses, Mexican guy with NO server skills. Give me Bravos or anyplace but this. Waste of money and time! Cons: Waitsaff and food are awful more

Just another disappointing chain restaurant 11/16/2008

Large portions can't make up for poor service and quality. Our server NICHOLAS was short, indifferent and unaccommodating. Here are a few examples: We were left without bread for 15-20 minutes after our drink order had been taken, and we were only served some after someone in our party asked a random waiter/busser who was walking by. My friend was served a whole chicken and never offered the option of getting the half, which is both what he wanted and expected to receive. Really, what one person eats a whole chicken in one meal? During our meal, I asked for a specific beer. Nicholas returned to our table 3 times before he actually brought the beer, which was the wrong one. I explained that it wasn't what I had ordered and he told me that they didn't have the beer that I wanted. Now, not only had the bartender told me they had this particular beer, but i had ACTUALLY SEEN IT in the fridge before dinner. I asked Nicholas to please check, but he just said they didn't have it and walked away before I could respond. I have been a server and bartender for years and while I am understanding of mistakes regarding service, I will not accept that someone is unwilling to accommodate their guests. Now, onto the food. The whole roasted chicken was said to be good, but my chicken saltimboca was waaayyyy over salted (it's already got prosciutto on it, you can give the salt a rest). The other guest had shrimp arrabiata. The sauce, which was supposed to be a fra diavlo tasted like nothing more than the most basic tomato sauce, no spice or garlic whatsover. Big portions, poor service, sub-par quality. But really, what more can you expect from a chain restaurant? Pros: Large portions Cons: service, food more

Average at Best... 3/29/2008

I had a party of 7 with me. We were celebrating a friend's birthday party. The server, a guy name JEROME, was absolutely terrible to us. Not only was he very rude and lazy, but he obnoxiously suggested items that we should and shouldn't get, and told us to ""hurry up"" our dining experience. He looked uncomfortable at our presence and seemed bothered everytime we asked for something (which wasn't much). He definitely didn't deserve the gratuity that was implemented on the bill. more

One of My Favorites 2/22/2007

This restaurant probably has the best deal for food that I've come across in a long time. The food is always great and the cost isn't too bad. The only downside is the crowds because it is so popular. Pros: Great Food for the Price Cons: Too Crowded at Peak Times more

Bad night in KOP 1/11/2007

Over rated, Over priced, stay home and boil your own pasta and put some ketchup on it and it would be better then this place. The staff must be the people who can't get hire at Burger King or Taco Bell. Pros: Ambience Cons: Everything else more

Great food, good value 8/13/2006

We went with another couple and dined family style the other night. We were given a choice of ordering off the regular menu with large individual portions, or eating a three course family style meal, we chose the family style. We got 2 of everything, appetizers, salads, pastas, entrees and desserts! Had we stuck to the basic menu it would have cost us $25 per person, but we chose the beef medallions and crab cakes so we spent $35 per person on the meals. The food was great, and if we wanted more of anything, our attentive server was there to get it for us. By the end of the meal, I couldn't imagine I would have room for the two desserts, but the tiramisu was the best I ever had! Pros: large portions, attentive staff, large variety Cons: difficult parking (recommend valet), noisy more

Big and Bad 1/17/2006

This place has just gotten steadily worse. The food is at best average Italian fare but the last meal I got there was absolutely unedible (burnt eggplant parmesan). Service was unattentive and extremely amatuerish, the only thing our server said to us the entire meal was ""What can I get for you"" when he took our order. No check back which is really bad considering i was sitting there with a barely touched entree in front of me. It doesn't matter how big the portion is if you can't eat it, get over the large portions and try for some quality. Pros: Looks nice on outside Cons: Food, Service, Crowded more

Far from the real deal! 4/15/2005

If you like large monster like portions this is your place. The food is bland and a poor excuse for Itallian food. Everyone appears to be impressed with the portion sizes, I personally am interested in quality and could not find it here. I also tried the same chain in Houston, TX and they are very similar. Pros: large portions Cons: poor quality more

best italian restaurant in king of prussia 3/29/2005

I love this place, the portions are huge, and the food is delicious. they have a great wine list and and other alcohol you can imagine. have you seen there banquet space? its awesome. this place has got it all!!, great homemade tasting food, like grandma used to make, good service, great value, and easy to get to location. try the tiramisu you won't be dissapointed. I would go back again and again. keep up the good work. Pros: atentive to allergies, FROM SCRATCH KITCHEN, great value. Cons: reservations a must, limited parking, very busy more

why? 1/1/2005

Philadelphia is blessed with a bounty of unique, delicious, personable Italian restaurants. So why, people, why would you go to a boring chain restaurant that serves you frozen dinners and/or pasta from the box? Just because they serve it in a big ol' trough? C'mon Philly, you deserve better. Pros: oversized portions, large tables Cons: , zero atmosphere more
