Great cakes and cookies and sweet stuff... 3/2/2010

Magee's has the best cakes ever... Whenever we have an office party, we have to have a Magee's cake. I actually went there for breakfast though and it wasn't so wonderful... well for my tastes anyway, I love a down home cooked breakfast, and they didn't have what I wanted. But it was ok. So I don't think I will go back for any food, just cakes, cookies and muffins and , you know, the good stuff!!! So on the sweets, they get a 5 but on the food... ummm not so much... more

Pricey but worth it! 8/13/2008

We like Magees for special occassions. One of my favorites is their carrot cake. It is HUGE and moist, and covered with the best cream chees frosting. They are great with special orders, and if you are hoping to stop by on the week-ends, be prepared to wait in line. It is well worth it. more

good food, but price gougers 11/30/2007

I've heard about the $3 plastic cup of orange juice and yes, that's correct. Their pricing seems a little pretentious considering what you get. They breakfast is good, but expensive and served on paper plates without garnish or sides and you get a little tiny plastic fork. Still, it's always crowded. more

$3 for orange juice in a plastic cup, seriously 11/28/2007

I really wanted to like Magees, but seriously, folks, when they charge $3 for a glass of orange juice and $1.75 for a 1oz cream cheese to go with your bagel, I'm just all tapped out. They even had a sign up at one point that read "due to the high price of milk, our coffee prices have increased." They nearly doubled the price to catch up with Starbucks around the corner. They should have just been honest about that. I'm very disappointed. One good thing: their sugar cookies are really the best on earth and cost only $1. more

Best Bakery In Town 11/15/2007

Magees Bakery is the most delicious bakery in Lexington. It has been around for a really long time, and the service is just as amazing as when it began. The donuts are always warm, and the other pastries are delicious too! The pricing is also very cheap, and is not a common chainstore pricing. more

Homemade delights, great atmosphere! 5/2/2007

Magee's Bakery is a great place to hang out in the late morning when you're skipping a day of work or school. The smell of the bakery combined with the old-fashioned atmosphere really take you back in time! Their cream horns are amazing (and huge!) and their donuts are great, too. The only downside is that parking is terrible! The lot is cramped and always packed! But, it's located in a good neighborhood where you can park on the street and walk a block or two there. more

Best Bakery in the Bluegrass 1/5/2007

We've been buying cream horns from here since I was a kid, and it's still a family favorite -- even though the price keeps going up and up. Luckily, they're worth it. I also love the scones and muffins with flavors varying from day to day. My husband loves the danishes. And the doughnuts are awesome. The atmosphere is great. If you are visiting Lexington, this is a great spot for local flavor. Pros: So delicious. Cons: The calories are irresistable. more

Great Bakery!!!! 8/21/2006

Magee's is a Lexington classic. The cakes are amazing and a must at every birthday celebration. Don't miss the non-sweet items either. Their tuna salad is flavored with dill and is amazing. Plus Magee's has free wi-fi inside. What more could you ask for? Pros: Great tasting cakes and sandwiches. Fantastic service. Cons: Parking lot can be crowded on Sat mornings more

The place to go for baked goods in Lexington! 3/19/2005

Magee's is a classic Lexington destination, filled with delectible baked goods (especially the donuts!). The atmosphere is that of an old bakery that has been well-kept and provides a great ambience. The staff are intelligent, attentive and very good at what they do. This is a family owned and operated business that everyone who lives in or visits Lexington should sample at least once! ~R more
