Madoka is a lovely restaurant. They call it fusion, but the mix of Japanese and Northwest is far more complimentary and harmonious than some of the crazier, contrasting, yet still very good, fusion restaurants like Indian and Italian. As an islander, one of the problems I face is finding a nice place to have a top of the line meal without having to spend an arm and a leg getting to Seattle. There are several restaurants on Bainbridge that satisfy this dilema, and Madoka is definitely tied for first. It is romantic, the crowds are reasonable, and it never gets too loud. It has a wonderful upstairs dining area if you really want to get away from the other tables, and the service is very good. There's plenty of parking around the area and the menu is mouthwatering. The wine list is decent, but I go there for the tea, not the wine; the tea is top notch and truly accentuating. Then there's the food! It is cooked excellently and prepared artistically. From appetizers to desserts, they are all very fine. And I almost forgot to mention, the prices are great too!
