My husband and I were new patients recently where he was seen by Dr. Paul and a week later, I was seen by Dr. Emily. They were both very friendly as well as the dental assistant. However the problem arose when one of the front staff members told my husband that we were out of network but they could work it out with us if we gave them the 2 checks for $135.50 and $122.00 from our insurance company. This was ONLY a cleaning which should have been 100% taken care of if we had gone in-network. We gave them the insurance checks graciously and then the front lady responded that we still owed them $208.00! My husband explained that another lady said we wouldn't owe anything else but she said my husband must have misunderstood. REALLY???? I have sent them their $208.00 if it means that much to them to be dishonest. It's really a shame considering the dentists are nice and they could have gotten even more money from us since we had future appointments and we are always telling others about the places we like which would mean more recommendations for them. I'm at least thankful I hadn't made app'ts for my children yet. In return, we have cancelled our total of 5 appointments where we were needing some dental work done (which would've been more than the $208.00) and I am glad to be able to rub my hands off of this situation knowing there is a lesson to be learned from this: No matter what you think of the company or how nice they may seem: Please please get it in writing.
