Great Experience 2/27/2012

After reading some of the negative reviews here on yelp, I went to Macy's Manhassett Bridal Salon with some trepidation. I knew that they exclusively carried Demetrios, in fact that was the specific line that I was interested in. This was the only store I could find that carried all the samples of the dresses I wanted to try on. So, I took my chances and made an appointment there in spite of the less-than-stellar reviews I saw online. Upon arriving at the salon about 10 minutes early for my appointment, I was promptly greeted by Shanequa, who was courteous and eager to help me. I gave her a stack of printouts of dresses from the Demetrios website that I wanted to try on, which she quickly rounded up for me. I was also thrilled to find out that my appointment happened to coincide with their annual Trunk Show! They had all the styles that I wanted to try on. I know that some of the dresses were only in-store for the Trunk Show, so you should call in advance and make sure they have the style you want, if you REALLY have your heart set on a particular style. It is common for many salons to not carry EVERY sample in the designer's collection, so you should do this research before going to ANY store if you really want a particular style. I was able to try on about 12-15 dresses, before deciding on the very first one I put on! All the staff in the store were friendly, accommodating, and seemed genuinely happy for me. I did NOT feel that they were pushy or rushing me at all. You are not required to use the in-house seamstress, however I probably will use her b/c she seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. I had a great experience, and I would definitely recommend Macy's Manhassett Bridal salon to any bride seeking a Demetrios dress. more

What a Con Game 11/5/2011

What a rip off and con game! They ordered me a bridesmaids dress 4 sizes bigger than I actually needed. The salesgirl said the dresses run small. When the dress came in it was HUGE!!! They only have a seamstress there 2 days a week (Tues and Weds). What about people who work? No weekends??? I had to pick up the dress and have it altered near my house. Good thing because the other bridesmaids had to pay for 3 alterations because their dresses were way to big. So that's how they get you..they charge extra for a bigger size and for every alteration...RIP OFF!!! more

not worth it 9/22/2011

For anyone looking for a great experience, do not go here. To begin with, you must be familiar with and love Demitrios. The dresses weren't my style, so I couldn't find too many to try on. My low review isn't for the style of the gowns though. I'm sure some people would like them... The consultants at Macys were so rude. I called for a last minute appointment. The salon closes at 7. We showed up at 5:15 for what was apparently a 5pm appointment. The consultant was snotty. When I apologized for being late, she gave me even more attitude. Maybe it was the end of the day and she dealt with bridezillas all day, but who wants to try on wedding gowns when their consultant hates their job? Definitely will not go back. more

I think that this salon is by far lacking in selection, good customer service, and everything else that makes for a good boutique experience. Horrible wouldn't even begin to describe my experience with Macy's Bridal in Manhassat. More than half of the dresses I wanted to try on weren't in stock, and they would have had to borrow them from other stores and waste more of my time waiting for them to come in. Needless to say, I didn't wait. There was hardly any variety in terms of dresses, as the only lines for brides they had was Demetrios and some of Marisa (I've never heard of it). The bridesmaid's lines are Bill Levkoff, Jordan, Betsy, and Alfred Sung. I personally feel that is a rather small selection. All of the dresses I tried on were like from size 8 to size 10 (the highest sizes), so I again couldn't get the vaguest idea of what they would look like on me, and again she would have to get a bigger size from a different store for me to try on. Needless to say I didn't want to waste another week (that could be spent looking elsewhere for dresses) for it to come in at Macy's. If you are looking for the Demetrios line, this might be the place for you (even though they hardly have Demetrios in stock) , but if you have no time to waste on having your right size come in to try on a dress, then go somewhere like RK Bridal that has everything ranging from good customer service to hands-on attention to plus sizes. Good Luck!!!!!\r Pros: NONE!!!! Cons: Small and stuffy, not enough helpers, limited selection, no plus sizes more
