This is THE needle in the haystack. I can't believe I almost let my ""fear"" of a restaurant in Kingston Springs prevent me from enjoying one of the best dining experiences of my life! My wife and I visited Mack & Kate's for my birthday dinner, and we were both very pleased from start to finish. We started out with the crab cakes ($11), which were cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the scallops ($24) and I ordered the 16oz blackened ribeye ($32). The scallops were presented on a bed of lentils, and my wife was kind enough to share a bit with me. They were amazing! A properly cooked scallop is truly a wonderful thing. My steak was served with pommes frites, and it was prepared exactly the way I like it. The marbling was perfect and the spices were just enough to accent the richness of the steak. Some places think blackened means ""douse with spices"", but M&K's nows how to let the quality of the product speak for itself. I actually couldn't finish my steak because of it's size. (Well, I also didn't want to miss out on dessert.) We finished our meal with a complimentary birthday pots du creme au chocolate and a chocolate, caramel bread pudding. Both desserts were delicious! The entire staff was very warm and welcoming. It's obvious that these people love what they do! I'm sorry it took us to long to make out first trip to Mack & Kate's, but it most certainly won't be our last. I wouldn't be surprised if my wife chooses Mack & Kate's for her birthday dinner. Here's hoping...
Pros: Food, ambience, pricing, wine selection (glass & bottle), service, very visually appealing.
Cons: Can't think of a single one. Seriously.
