I've never been to this restaurant, but I am a die hard wrestling fan!!! Rumors are surfing the web saying local oregonian wrestling legend Billy Jack Haynes owns this restaurant...

It's your fuctioning alcoholic co-worker that only talks about sports. Pros: tv's everywhere, outside patio Cons: tv's everywhere and everything else

We went to Macadams for lunch on 11/12, 2/29/2012

We went to Macadams for lunch on 11/12, here is my review: bad food, bad service. The turkey noodle soup: The noodles tasted like they were straight out of a top ramen package, and the soup was barely warm. It was so chunky, my sister referred to it as, ""dog food."" The grilled cheese sandwhich: bread was dry and you could taste the burn marks from the grill, no butter or olive oil or anything was used to grill it. The cheese: dry (although the cheeses they chose to put in it are naturally on the dryer side), no flavor. Our friends were not impressed with their food either (breakfast burrito which was mainly egg), my husband said his burger was OK. Service: Our waitor didn't know what the soup of the day was, nor what the sandwich special for the 1/2 sandwich/soup/salad was. Instead of finding out for me, he stood there for a while explaining, ""well, they just put the soup out, so I don't know what it is yet...I'm just not sure. The sandwich special changes every week, so I don't know what it is..."" blah blah blah--as if he wasn't going to find out for me. I just stared at him until he said he'd go find out. (didn't mean to put him out.) Lastly, after paying our bill, we ended up sitting at the table for a good 30 mins longer as our conversation continued. Had they been full and people waiting, we would've been out of there, but this was not the case. When we did leave, a blonde waitress walked by us on the way out and said sarcastically, ""And they leave..."" I couldn't believe it. We will NEVER go back, nor would we ever recommend this place considering the vast variety of other [awesome] Portland bar and grill options. more

Sub-par, will not return 11/13/2011

A favorite sports bar 7/4/2010

I love coming to Macadam's when I am in town. The place has a friendly atmosphere and always serves up a great drink. It's a great place to see the game because there are many well placed TV's around the place. Also a good spot to play pool or shuffleboard. I have also been there when they have live music and while it can be hard to hear conversations, that's pretty much standard when attending live events anywhere. I've recommended the spot to several friends and they were all thankful afterward! Pros: Diverse menu that is flavorful. more

Watch out for the Grilled Cheese 4/27/2010

Overall, I like this place, but I have been unhappy on a couple occasions with the food. Example: I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich this last time and it was, by far, the worst grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had. How it is possible to mess up such simple fare is hard to believe, but they managed nonetheless. First off, the cheeses used were all fairly tasteless, the bread was thick and grilled dry and the warm melty goodness of a grilled cheese was completely absent. If they had buttered the bread and toasted it, it might have helped. If they had chosen some type of cheese that melts and had flavor, like cheddar or American, it might have helped. If they had added some salt to give what was there some flavor at all it might have helped. As it was, it was awful and I left feeling like I'd just eaten half of the Sunday Oregonian instead of a sandwich. I'll go there again, but I won't be ordering any more grilled cheese sandwiches that's for sure. The fries were good though. Pros: Great service and very friendly Cons: Some items are not that great more

Best Onion Rings Ever! 2/20/2010

Just went to Macadam's Bar and Grill for the second time. First visit was good - near closing and just stopped in for a couple drinks. Good service, and awesome mac and cheese (especially when expecting typical bar food). This visit I had the opportunity to listen to some live music and enjoy the shuffleboard (my first time playing on a regulation length table in Portland!). My significant other asked me to grab a burger for him before heading home, so I chose the Dagwood with onion rings on the side. When I got home and he bit in he was in heaven! I tried an onion ring and just about died! I usually hesitate on onion rings because I can't stand the soggy mess of frozen, but these are delicious and very fresh. Huge crunchy onions with an exterior crisped to perfection! For a place that doesn't brag about the food, they are really good. I plan to go back and try a steak dinner next time! Pros: Live Music, Games, Great Food Cons: Service was good but a little bit slow more

great burger 1/21/2010

Great place to watch a game, get a burger and a couple of cold ones. The service is excellent and the shuffleboard kicks ass. Pros: parking is easy Cons: it is not cheap more

Quality food - great place to kick back and watch a game! 12/9/2009

This place is great - probably the best sports bar around. I've been coming here for about a year, whether to meet with co-workers, clients, friends or to cheer on the Ducks I've had nothing but great memories and good times there. The food during lunch is great and their happy hour rocks. I haven't had a chance to have dinner there yet. Their menu specials is constantly changing, and their soup is made from scratch. I've been eating there for about a year for lunch and I'm yet to be tired of it. Pros: SOUP! atmosphere - staff and TVs! Cons: baked potato soup needs to be served everyday. more

go for the game - and nothing else 10/7/2009

It's your fuctioning alcoholic co-worker that only talks about sports. Pros: tv's everywhere, outside patio Cons: tv's everywhere and everything else more

Centrally Located - Great Place to Meet! 7/25/2009

Macadam's has become a favorite place to meet friends since it's centrally located with lots of free parking and easy access to freeways. It also has a great atmosphere, not too loud, excellent TV's, nice bar, just a great casual place with outstanding food! Pros: Great pear slaw - original menu - no corporate food here! Cons: Can't think of any. more

Not for me 4/21/2009

Decent place, went there on a Saturday night, but the crowd is on the fratty side. I got called ""Bro"" a lot and saw more aluminum budweisers being carried around than I would care to see. If throwing on a button down shirt and drinking light beer out of an aluminum bottle is your thing, this is your place. There was quite a bit of ""talent"" throughout the bar however, if you know what I mean. That being said, the beer was in abundance, the bartenders were cool and attentive, and it's pretty nice inside for a sports bar. I'd recommend coming for a game. Pros: Good beer selection, nice interior, good service Cons: Too many people with aluminum bottles more

Best Spot In PDX 11/14/2008

By far my favorite place in Portland. There is great food, I have never had a black and blue burger that is as good as theirs... I think it is the crispy onion strips they put on top of it. In any case, the services never lets me down. Always friendly, and actually helpful for whatever you need. They have modified an entire section to accommodate the party I am with. Pros: Great Food, Good Atmosphere, Best Service Cons: It is not right next to my house more

Best Sports Bar TV's everywhere! 10/29/2008

The best sports bar in the City, for that matter the nation. I have watched it grow from its infancy to its current age of 2-1/2 years. Owners Ryan and Tally are without a doubt the most enjoyable, honest and hard working restaurateurs. Because of their pleasing nature, they have surrounded themselves with by far the most accommodating, fun filled, expert staff in the business. Now to the really good stuff, the food is out of this world, the menu has something for everybody, and no one week is the same; they have weekly special?s, and I don?t mean just one weekly special a half of dozen items. There is simply no reason to ever have to eat the same thing again, except for the flat iron steak, just cannot get enough of it. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and head to Macadam?s for the best in food, atmosphere, company, and sports, I promise the friendly staff the great food, and the reasonably pricing will win you over. It has me; I rarely miss a day without my Macadam?s fix. more

Best owners in town!!! Just pop in to say hi and you will agree!!! 10/28/2008

I had the best experience ever at Macadams Bar and Grill. I had an excellent salad before dinner. Then I had the best burger ever!!! Then I splurged on desert and was very pleased. The customer service was unbelievable!!! The owners, Ryan and Tallie, are two of the nicest people I have ever met!!! They made me feel like I was watching my team play in my very own living room!! The bartender Matt was the best bartender ever plus, WHAT A CUTIE PIE!!!! So I totally give Macadams my upmost, sincere reccomendation and have exclusively made them my spotrs bar!!! So thank you Macadams for making my boring little life really, really exciting and enjoyable!!! I love Matt!!! Pros: 1st- Sports...2nd- Food, 3rd- Staff, 4th-Friendly parking,5th-Drinks,6thPrices Cons: They are not open 24 hours more

Cousin Oliver would have loved it if he only had a touch tone phone. 10/28/2008

What's not to love about this bar? Great food and atmosphere! The service is always good and I don't feel like I'm beeing treated like cousin Oliver. more

Great steak! 10/28/2008

I am used to spending $20-30 on a steak ala carte. By the time i get my starch and sides its another 5-10 bucks. Not the case at Macadams! I was very pleased when i got a 7oz sirloin with garlic mashers and fresh sauteed veggies for under 17 bucks. It was juicy, flavorful and cooked my temp preference. The bartender, Chad I think) was very helpful and made me a great Manhattan. My wife had the mango salmon which was also exceptional. She had some drink that was fruity and strong. She loved it. Not sure what it was since he appeared to have made it up on the spot. Looking forward to the next time we are in town. Pros: Great food & drinks, plenty of parking Cons: too Bright inside more

My favorite place to work and play 10/28/2008

This restaurant has exceptional food and service and can accomodate for business meetings, parties, and fun any night of the week. I love the owners and the staff in general is awesome! I eat here at least once a week and hold an event there at least once a month. What a great neighborhood establishment should be. Thank you Macadams! Pros: Parking, Seasonal Specials, Service, Accomodations for Events Cons: More locations would be great! more

good food, good beer, clean, no smoke, lots of TVs 10/22/2008

I really enjoy this place... they have a good selection of beer, good food, and lots of TVs to watch all the games on. If you are craving for a good burger that is what I recommend. Very high quality beef. Service is ok, pool tables are new, bathrooms are as clean as a hospital, lighting is comfortable - not too bright and not too dark, shuffle board is free and overall it's just an enjoyable place to relax, have a few drinks and some food. Also it's smoke free - so this sports bar is actually one of my favs. Pros: clean, no smoke, tons of TV, and fresh food Cons: Kinda big place - so everyone is spread out. more

Best All Around 10/20/2008

Macadam's is the best all around. The game's always on, the drinks are stiff and the shuffleboard table is salty. And bonus, it's smoke-free so you don't leave smelling like you just spent the evening swimming in an ashtray. more
