We had a short move from a downtown apartment to midtown. We chose MSA Moving Company in Kansas City simply because they were recommended by a friend, and were also the lowest priced we found. These guys were fast, courteous, and did everything possible to protect our stuff. We were shocked that the move was completed so quickly. We had minor damage to our bed, and when I pointed it out to them, they offered to pay the entire expense of the repair, well beyond what we should were insured for. The harm was so minor, and really beyond what they can control, so that I decided to not even pursue it. If we have to move again, we will be using MSA Moving Company. more

I moved my business in Kansas City to a new location. I had many valuables which were very high priced including paintings, sculptures and numerous works of art that were irreplaceable. I had learned about MSA Moving Company and decided to call them to get an estimate. I was greeted by a very courteous sales representative, who reassured me of MSA Moving Company excellent level of service, as I was very nervous with all the expensive items I had to maneuver. Every piece was moved without a scratch on it. The movers knew just how to wrap and pack each item. They were the greatest bunch of guys, and turned what could have been a very stressful experience, into one of the best moving experiences. The service at MSA Moving Company is flawless, they arrived on time, took great care with my belongings, were polite and friendly, and as if all of that isn’t enough, I even got free boxes!. I was so nervous about moving however their impeccable service calmed me and I felt at ease throughout the entire moving process, from the moment I spoke towards the friendly and knowledgeable sales representative, to the time I paid exactly the estimated price. I did a lot of online research into well-rated Kansas City moving companies and called a number of movers for quotes. MSA Moving Company provided the best hourly rate, and I decided to go with them. The 3 movers were promptly, very professional, and incredibly helpful. They completed my proceed to a new studio in lust a few hours, and everything arrived here in fine condition. The fee at the end of the move was as decided, although there were a couple additional $10 charges for shrink-wrap for the couch and a bag for that chair. Overall, MSA Moving Company made moving day manageable. Five stars and I would definitely recommend them. more

Same company as all state movers A-1 Allstate Movers Inc Category: Movers Neighborhoods: Fourth Ward, Downtown 10/24/2011 Allstate movers said 4 times that my move was good to go - and once I signed an agreement, paid my deposit - they emailed (couldn't even call) to let me know they didn't have a truck available. Once I mentioned my signed agreement as well as verbal email agreements - they rudely mentioned "i waited to long to contact them and I should have contacted two separate moving companies". There are much more responsive and respectful companies out there - I wouldn't waste your time risking this experience. (3 days before my move they cancelled - and this was a multi-state move. Try someone who actually has 24 hour customer service - All state is a small company with a small office, they don't care if they mess up! here is the email from them : Mind you this was 3 days before my move???? It absolutely was my first move, so naturally I have lot and lots of questions, and all sorts of were answered patiently from the very patient Christi who won my business with the professionalism. Every little detail she provided and my husband when we conference called about the hourly price and extra cost of supplies, was a big help on the move day. We were packed and ready for the movers, and had an easy, surprise free move. Well, no damaging surprises anyway. There were nice ones: they provided an arrival window of 8:000-10:00am, and arrived on 8:05. Which was a good start and I was glad the afternoon kept going in that direction. They were always smiling, even with the super hot day I wound up moving on. MSA Moving Company made my move quick and easy. more

When my mother chose to move from Kansas City to Southern California, I decided to use MSA Moving Company. I had moved earlier from San Francisco and had great service from their store. As with my previous move, MSA Moving Company sent an excellent team of workers. Jesus and his crew carefully wrapped my mother’s furniture and possessions. When they arrived with her items, I was happy to see that Jesus and the crew were going to unload her things. It had just rained very difficult and they took extra measures to insure that doesn't only were her items moved in carefully but also that her floors were protected while they walked through her new home. My husband and I had a terrible experience with this company. Sherry Clark at MSA gave us a quote of $2,480 and a truck came to picked up our belongings on May 14th, 2011 at which time we paid $1,200. A week after they picked up our stuff Sherry told us that it would need to pay an additional $2,900 (stating that the weight of our belongings was 6,660 pounds way over the estimated of 4,000 pounds she originally told us). So the additional weight was the reason for the extra charges. We were supposed to get our stuff by June 1st, around June 10th we started to get really frustrated and thats when we read all the negative reviews (and we realized all the positive reviews written months earlier were all fake). I contacted the Department of Transportation (DOT) hotline at 1-888-368-7238 we learned that Moving Services of America (MSA) is really a company called "Allstate Relocation Van Lines". They WERE a licensed company (DOT #1462677) however their license was revoked in April of 2011. Therefore Moving Services of America (aka Allstate Relocation Van Lines) is not currently licensed. We filed a complaint with the DOT and if you have been a victim of this company I encourage you to do the same. The truck arrived in our town on June 29th, 2011. Sherry Clark told us on the phone that they would not unload our stuff unless we paid the FULL balance upon arrival (the full balance meaning the $2,900 that she told us we had to pay because of the extra weight). We had a cashiers check ready for roughly $1,200 (which was the remaining balance of 110% of the original quote. We learned from the DOT that legally a customer only has to pay 110% of the original quote to have the shipment unloaded, and then any additional charges can be billed within 30 days). But Sherry told the truck drivers not come to our house until we agreed to pay the FULL balance, so we finally agreed to do so. Sherry said we could pay the remaining amount with a personal check. So we wrote our a personal check for around $1,700. We told Sherry Clark on the phone that we wanted our belongings reweighed at the weigh station close to our home. Sherry agreed to this (legally moving companies have to reweigh your belongings if you request it). We met the truck at the weighed station before they unloaded our stuff and got an initial weight. Then the drivers followed us to our house and we gave them the cashiers check (for $1,200), PLUS the personal check (for $1,700). AT that point they then unpacked the truck (a few boxes were missing, we lost about $500 worth of stuff). We then all went back to the weigh station for a second weigh-in and that is when we discovered the TRUE weight of our belongings was only 3,500 pounds! At this point the driver GAVE US OUR PERSONAL CHECK BACK for $1,700! Thank goodness that the driver was at least a reasonable person. The driver did demand that we pay $325 for "packing materials" which we just gave him in cash. But the point of the story is, having the truck reweighed saved us over $1,400!! If you are in this same situation, DEMAND TO HAVE THE TRUCK RE-WEIGHED! The way this company is scamming people is by lying about the weight of your items and telling you that you owe a few more thousand than you do. This post is meant for people who have already had their belongings taken, if you have paid a deposit with this company, please DO NOT LET THEM TAKE YOUR STUFF. It may take months to get it back, some of your stuff maybe stolen, they will lie to you about the weight of your items, and try to trick you into paying more money. I suggest cancelling your credit card (if you used it for the deposit) and look for another company more

STAY AWAY! MSA Moving Company was just Moving Services of America in June 2011 but have changed their name (once again) to cover up the fact that they're not a legit company that will hold your stuff hostage. Google every one of their addresses and you will come up with a storage facility (who knows nothing about them). You will have a recording of a Nichole or Sherry (ext. 14 and 15) who will NEVER return your calls once they have your credit card number and your possessions. Google MSA and Moving Services of America and compare the websites and phone numbers... they are all fake and there are several all over the US (midwest, CA, CO, KS, NV, WA, UT, WY, etc). They will hold your items hostage and double the weight of your shipment and the total amount due and you will not get your belongings back until you pay what they demand. If its too late have your stuff reweighed. Call local police and request civil standby during delivery and police at reweigh. Call the many #'s for the company and be persistent - someone will answer eventually and cancel your credit card. They are not a registered company, are not licensed with DOT and have over 53 complaints with the BBB. Contact FDOT and google Mover Rescue. DO NOT LET MSA drive away with your possessions!!! MSA picked up our belongs on 6/13 and told us 5 to 10 days; 21 days worst case scenario on delivery from Denver, CO to NH. We were quoted with an estimate for 2500 lbs (one bedroom and office) a total of 41 boxes and 20 miscellaneous items. Was informed by driver our shipment weighed in at 4,560 lbs!!!! (FYI... we were 240 lbs UNDER the 2500 we were given not 2000+ over their #) We NEVER heard from them again until we found another # on the internet since their 800# went into automated voicemail with no return phone calls 2 weeks after they took our stuff! After numerous calls to them almost daily on where our belongings were (Sherry said in storage - didn't say where this storage was) we finally got our delivery on July 17th - 5 weeks after it was taken. Drivers demanded that we would not receive our stuff unless we paid another $2500!!!! from the original quote! CASH! We are fortunate to have played our cards well and did a fair amount of research on how to get our stuff back and not get ripped off at the same time. Having police be there for delivery (they took the drivers license and registration information) and calling the town of where the reweigh took place and having the officer present while disputing the difference in weight was a huge help... have to mention the driver seemed nervous while on the phone with "dispatch" after inquiring why the credit card had been cancelled. (Cancelled the night before so that they didn't try to run it if a refund was issued) sure enough that's what they were trying to do run the card while refunding us... while the officer was right there. It worked in our favor we left with $1500 cash and our belongs back. Save yourself the stress and go with another company!!!! more

MSA Moving Company is the best moving company I have dealt with and helped me move everything from my bed to my bike. My family used MSA Moving Company movers for the past 9 years. Their packers were and quick and very careful. I used them to pack my 2 bedroom home and I thought it would take them at least 10 hours. They were done in 5 hours with 2 packers. MSA Moving Company moving crew and also top notch. Movers were running 15 minutes late and called me to let me know that they were stuck in traffic. When you are packed, they really can pack the van quickly. I highly recommend MSA Moving Company movers in Kansas City! more

I just moved and it was a fantastic moving experience. The crew of 3 was fast and efficient and damaged nothing. They even had to go up 2 flights to get all of my stuff and go up 2 flights to put it away in the new place. They asked me where I wanted stuff placed. The price didn't change even though there were a few extra items not mentioned for the estimate (that must always happen). I highly recommend using MSA Moving Company.
