Whos the Coward 9/1/2010

To all McM Clients Past and Present,\r \r It is with great regret that I have to inform you that my doors are officially closed. The 31st of October would have been our 20th anniversary but sadly, I am unable to continue. I have anguished greatly for many years to overcome the hardships of the last five years, and alas, I was unsuccessful. \r \r I have worked 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, I have not brought home a check to my family for months, and nothing substantial prior to that. In the end it simply was not enough.\r \r For those of you who are wondering what happened, I will explain it to the best of my ability.\r Maurice, my business partner, passed away April 2005 after fighting a losing battle to cancer less than 4 months after we embarked on a massive expansion and purchase of our new building.\r \r In 2006 and 2007 we attempted to reassign my role as field supervisor and production manager to several other employees. Unfortunately, that turned out be an experiment that failed miserably. \r \r In 2008 we were continually robbed by 2 employees, who were swiftly terminated when caught. They in turn began to picket the business, claiming that McM owed them money. That matter to this day has still not been resolved and we have defended ourselves at great expense. \r \r 2009 was the infamous CT Carpentry fiasco. MCM completed a 500 square foot roof that we put $40,000 of our own money into and were not paid for. The job resulted in a total loss of over $100,000.00 dollars. We could not afford to even pursue the money in court because we simply could not afford the lawyers. The choices were buy materials and pay the help or pay the lawyers. We of course chose to do the right thing and complete the project for the sake of the customer. \r \r In 2008 and 2010, with the economic decline, we could not locate banks to finance projects for customers, leading to rejections on credit apps and an all around crash of large scale projects. There was millions of dollars in cancellations I could not overcome. \r \r I have put everything I have ever had into saving McM and it was still not enough! To add insult to injury, Thursday, 8/5/10, I was robbed yet again by two other employees of every nail gun, compressor and an assortment of other hand tools. At this point, I cannot even cut a 2x4.\r \r I do not even have the ability to finish the projects I have already started. \r I am in financial ruin and will be personally on the hook for a long time. \r I am deeply sorry for the pain that our demise has caused your families and am tirelessly working to help get coverage for your projects. \r I am including the information to recover the funds that you had entrusted to McM Restoration Corp.\r With Great Regret,\r \r \r \r Patrick M. McAneeny \r HIC License #0610201\r \r The only coward is the one who would blindly bash un named from behind a dirty computer, a good family who served this country as a army ranger and this beloved comunity for just short of 2 decades, who has done 100's of hours of community service, and thousands of projects. You sir are the coward!!! more

Pat and Kimmy MCM are cowards 8/23/2010

If you are at this site, you have also been hurt by Pat and Kimmy McAnneny, they have closed and stolen hundreds of thousands, call him and ask him why he stole, he is at Advanced like so many have reported, Call Dave the president and ask him why he would hire someone like that? Also go to small Claims and try to get your money, there are many but you never know. Look at ct.gov both in civil and small claims on him to keep track. Good Luck they will both self implode shortly..... more

**WARNING** 8/14/2010

It wasn't an option here, but this company deserves no stars. It's apparently closed now. more

****Warning****** 8/3/2010

Stay away from this one. They want a heavy downpayment and once you give it to them they don't come back when they say. Owner has many excuses and sub contractors and workers complain about getting paid. I noticed all the good compnts were around the same dates which seams to be odd and makes me wonder if they are by customers or the company trying to look good. Read all the real reviews and avoid this contractor. Cons: Why are all the good reviews on the same date? I wonder more

Never on time and don't pay the subcontractors 6/4/2010

Before writing this I want to point out that the good reviews seem to have all the same date. Seams fishy to me.\r As a subcontractor for MCM I talked to many customers and the complaints are endless, didn't start the job on time, asked for advacements in pay before they were due, sub contractors would not show up because they were not getting paid, the company is in financial trouble and has several legal actions in progress currently. Improper job site management. Every job I was on the customers were complaining that they had paid and the work was not getting done . Cons: poor management and lies more

Superior treatment and workmanship 2/4/2009

Our first experience with MCM was a small job of replacing some roof windows that had been installed years ago. The work done was exceptional. It was far superior to the original work done 24 years ago. All of our experiences with MCM were handled efficiently, courteously and the workmanship was of very high quality. We called them back to complete another job a few years later. This was also of high quality. When we were ready to add an addition onto our home, they were the obvious choice to contact. Pat McAneeny and Beau Lucas met and worked with us on many occations to finalize a plan of approach and to meet the needs of our addition. They also involved their work foreman and builder, Rick LaCombe in the meetings so that everyone was aware of the scope of the project. To date we have very pleased with the attention to detail, the pricing of materials and work, and the treatment we have received from MCM Restorations. They are indeed a great choice for any work to be done around your home. The Lambs, Ashaway, RI Pros: Willingness to pleae the needs of the customer. more

the absolute best 2/3/2009

These guys tranformed my tired looking beach shack into a classic New England beach cottage. Patrick, the owner, did the estimate himself. The cost was 15% less than other bids I received. There were no addtional costs other than changes I requested. Beau and the project managers began the work at the schedulled time and completed it quickly. I did not occupy the home during the work. I relied on their expertise, their confidence, and their professionalism. I was not disappointed. more

PROFESSIONAL SERVICE WITH ATTENTION TO DETAILS AND GREAT FOLLOWUP 2/3/2009

I shopped around for roofing bids this winter and MCM Restoration was an easy pick! \r \r My quote was delivered to me within a few days of estimator looking at my house and they beat all of my other bids. I loved how they offered me several options and were concerned with my budget.\r \r During the work, I had questions and was called back within a half hour of leaving a message.\r \r My husband was a contractor and I know what makes a GREAT CONTRACTOR:. 1. Professionalism 2. Quality 3. Follow-up. \r \r I plan to use MCM again this spring for a remodeling job and I am actually looking forward to the project. Pros: All pros with MCM You will be psyched with their customer service! more

Excellent employees provide outstanding service 2/3/2009

MCM is nearing the completion of a large renovation on my parent's home. I looked far and wide to find the best company and they have exceeded my expectations. Everyone, and I mean everyone, that I have met and dealt with @ MCM has been more than courteous and each of them has gone above and beyond to make this project really a pleasure for me. The house is beautiful! Even the building inspector and zoning officer have commented on the excellent design and workmanship. I would not hesitate to contract with them again. Special thanks to Jim, Jeff and Beau. Job well done. Pros: Really experienced, understanding, practical supervisors and workers Cons: None, everyone from the company has been top notch more

Best Remodeler in New London County!!! 2/3/2009

I love my new addition from MCM Restoration. The construction team was friendly and very helpful. I will admit that while the work was being completed it was like shoveling before it stopped snowing, which is typical in any construction project, but the end result is just totally awesome. I am thankful that my salesman was not as dishonest as the ones picketing on MCM's front lawn. Can you imagine admitting on national television that you under bid jobs on MCM's part to win the job for yourself? Shame on them!!! I highly recommend MCM for any project in your home. Pros: excellent production dept Cons: none - I love my new addition. more

Excellent company 2/3/2009

The previous reviews seem to be contrived... It appears quite strongly that the picketing ""subcontractors"" (ex-salesmen let go for underbidding MCM and taking contracts to do themselves -- hence confusion by customers not knowing who they were actually buying from) could very well have the motive to write in the reviews below from 1/18, 1/9, and 11/28. I personally have not had a problem with MCM. They have always gotten back to me on work they've done for me and honored their contracts. I would highly recommend Pat and his crew. more

Beware! Get everything in writing and follow up on everything! Be home when they do the work. 1/18/2009

MCM estimator gave a quote on a job. I called to scheduled the labor. The estimator claimed he never gave me the quote. I went to the MCM office to see Patrick McAneeny who told me he would take care of it. Several days later, Patrick McAneeny called me to say I was ""a liar"" and that he wouldn't do the work for the price the estimator had quoted. About a year later, work from a previous MCM job at my house broke down (a roof). MCM came to look at it but said it wasn't their problem. I went to my town hall and found out that MCM never took out a building permit for the roof. MCM still refused to fix the problem until I finally threatened to take legal action. After my threat, they finally did fix the problem and did a good job, but it was unpleasant. I would never do business with this company again. I've never been called ""a liar"" before by anyone, let alone a business!!.....then I saw the headlines that they didn't pay their contractors. I certainly believe the contractor's story after my interaction with MCM and Patrick McAneeny! Pros: After unpleasant confrontation, they eventually did fix the job properly. Cons: I don't trust them. more

BEWARE 1/8/2009

Does not show concern for honoring a contract. The contract is to protect him not you. Be aware that this man will put a lein on your property if he does not get every cent he wants, even if he does not do all the work in the contract. Be ready to go to court if you use this company. They not only don't honor it, they don't even bother to read it after getting your deposit. more

Worst contractor in the New London County area! 11/28/2008

MCM is the worst possible contractor to deal with. They are constantly giving out change orders and they are not organized at all. The owner is an egomaniac who could care less about the customer, and today I was driving by and his employees are out front picketing for wages not paid. Stay away from this company. Cons: They are way over priced! more
